Excellent environment and service
Being my first time as a solo traveler in a hostel, I'm glad I've chosen High Street Hostel as the place to stay during my visit to Edinburgh. Its location is perfect, since many tourist spots and the train station are close. The common spaces are comfy, and the staff are very kind and helpful. The breakfast has a low and decent price, considering how much it costs in other places: you can have bread, cereal, fruit, and juice for £1.90, and coffee and tea are for free. As for the room's, they're good enough to have a good sleep; they weren't as clean as I expected them to be, but maybe in my case it had more to do with my roomies. And last but not least, the bathrooms: they're very clean! And to me that is one big plus, considering the number of people that stay here. So, to sum up, I really would recommend this place if you're searching for a low cost, centric, and friendly stay in Edinburgh :)

Fue una buena experiencia, los desayunos muy buenos y económicos, solamente "sufrí" porque mi habitación estaba en el 7mo piso, el resto todo bien.

Lo recomiendo
Es muy bonita la recepción, el comedor, la cocina también. Ofrecen un desayuno muy barato a 1,90 que está muy bien. La habitación que nos tocó era pequeña pero estaba muy bien, solo faltaba una pequeña taquilla o algo así. Los baños compartidos son básicos pero están limpios y tiene todo lo necesario además el agua sale caliente. Todo muy bien. Lo recomiendo y volvería sin pensarlo allí mismo.

Muy buena estadía! Excelente la atención del personal muy amable y atento a todo! Muy bueno la sala de estar y cocina. Habitación chica pero para solo dormir está bien.

una escapada a Edinburgh
yo estuve solo una noche previa a tomar un tour por el lago Ness. El hostal es limpio y puedes desayunar a un precio economico y también tiene una amplia cocina.

The room was small , but very clean. All the staff where very friendly and helpful. Breakfast for £2 unbeatable. The location is set in the centre of Edinburgh. Lovely weekend thank you.

A Place to stay.
1staff member (male) great worker, good for the hostel, sorry cant remember his name..... great eclectic hideaway, lovely and cosy, comfy beds, easy check in, deposit of Drivers licence or £10 or passport-returned to you upon check out. kitchen, lounge downstairs and an abundance of everything the city can offer.

Huge hostel
It's a big hostel. The room was nice but lack of storage space. The kitchen and lounge were spacious but pretty crowed all the time. If you prefer quiet place, probably here is not for you. But overall here is nice and reasonable price.

Dejligt, centralt beliggende vandrerhjem
Et virkelig dejligt vandrerhjem med god value for money. Beliggenhed ideel i det gamle Edinburgh lige ved The Royal Mile. Meget billig og til prisen helt ok morgenmad. Fine køkkenfaciliteter, gode toilet- og badeforhold og gode madrasser. Værelserne er små, men der er små skabe, der kan låses. Atmosfæren er meget venlig og imødekommende.

Wonderful location! Fun and quirky. My only issue was the showers. They need better drainage and/or a place to put clothes - especially if the shower rooms are mixed sex

Great for location
I booked a private room. It was very small and bed was hard pillows too. It was noisy but doable. The shared bathroom is coed with two showers and three sinks. No amenities and for the price I paid I would not recommend.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, even when we arrived late at night, and the quirky decor was great fun. We wished we had more time to spend to enjoy the squashy sofas, tv, books- even guitars and pianos to use, but were too busy seeing Edinburgh. The simple breakfast on offer for £1.90 was excellent value. There was a good mixture of ages and nationalities staying when we did. The only people I wouldn't recommend this hostel to would be those who can't manage a lot of stairs.

Guesta in the dormitory were up & down all night & naking noise & having conversations :( Curtains around each indivudial bunk would be nice touch for more privacy especially when sleeping :) Guy in front dress very helpful, pleasant & tasty too ;)

Great location in Old Town with comfy beds
Great location and the facilities are clean & spacious. Decor is not as modern or hip as other places but I prefer it’s laid back charm. Guests kept to themselves a bit, but that may be just when I happened to be there.

I stayed two nights and had no issues. Hostel was super easy to find and a few steps off the Royal Mile. The kitchen was always busy, but there are several sinks and stoves and plenty of space to prepare/cook your own meals. Chill hangout space too. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms and showers were kept clean throughout the day. Overall, no problems and I recommend the place.

I can’t believe that in all my 44 years I’ve never stayed in a hostel. Thought I’d take the plunge because fed up of sitting on my own in a hotel room, sitting in my own in a restaurant eating food I didn’t really want, and hugging a pint on my own in a bar. 2 nights at the High Street Hotel in Edinburgh has changed my idea of business trips to the city forever! Eat what I want, when I want, sit and chat with friendly people of all ages from all over, or just quietly on my own I wanted. Film night, WiFi, no faff, no fuss, no pretences. Comfy bed, though beware if your a bit older or less agile as upper bunks take a bit of leg strength and control to do with finesse! I went in mixed room as doesn’t bother me, but could do single-sex if wanted. Now I’m left asking...why did I never think of it before?

Dirty but excellent location
So stinky that my pijama smelled of the hostel’s stinky duvet even after check-out. Horrible. Location is good though.
