Stunning Royal Mile Penthouse

  • Steeped in history, James Court was built in 1723 and has housed many notable figures in its lifetime. A stone archway leads to a fairy tale traditional spiral staircase which rises to this beautiful charming apartment - just off the Royal Mile in Edinburgh's historic Old Town. The property itself is a fifth floor apartment laid out over two levels & joined by an inner spiral staircase. Elegantly furnished, & with stunning views over the city, this will provide a dream stay in Edinburgh.

    This is a fully licensed apartment, with a spacious living room, a fully stocked kitchen and 3 bathrooms.

    Despite being right on the Royal Mile, a stone's throw from the Castle, it is a surprisingly quiet flat.

    You will be renting the entire apartment.

    One important thing to note: The flat is on the fifth floor, and there is no lift access. I can arrange for someone to meet you at the apartment to assist in carrying your luggage upstairs if required - it would be no problem at all, and this would be free of charge.

Location could not have been better! Directly on the Royal Mile and very easy access to train & bus. The multiple keys allowed our big group to pursue different interests. Well furnished and outfitted.

Yes there are steps - but Scott was brilliant and helped us with luggage. An the view and locations makes up for a few ancient and beautiful steps x

Wonderful location

The location was wonderful--right in the heart of Old Town. The apartment was comfortable and beautiful. The stairs were amazing stone--but not for the faint of heart! Thank you, we had a wonderful time.

Great Location! Great Host!

Perfect location for our group of 8 that only had one day to see the city. Walk to the castle and many pubs and restaurants! Just be prepared to take the steps up to the penthouse! Scott was an awesome host and very responsive when we had questions, he even helped us with our luggage!

Second Honeymoon and high school senior trip

We had an amazing time in this flat. The view is something that you wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. The stairs going up to the flat are an amazing workout. The flat was super clean will described in the description. Staying in the royal mile was so much fun and busy.

Very accomodating

The host was amazing! He allowed us to drop our bags off hours early, eben before he'd had a chance to get there to clean up from the last guests. When we left, my son forgot his sketch book amd he even mailed it back to the US for free. So pleasant to deal with! Be warned though, there are a Lot of stairs going up to the flat. Worth the climb once you get up there though

Good Unit bad Entrance

I knew it was a 5 story walk up but what I didn't know is that 95 steps straight up a narrow spiral staircase. Not secure from the outside into the staircase as there was a homeless man and his dog hanging out in there. 2 of the bedrooms are up another spiral staircase without a bathroom. Unit itself was otherwise OK. Great location.

Great Space and Great Host

We had a great stay in Edinburgh! The place was perfect for our group of 8 adults, 1 child, and an infant. The property was clean, we had all the amenities that we needed, and it was close to all the tourist attractions we wanted to visit. The location was a little tricky to find (the listed address was not correct on Google and Apple Maps), but Scott was great about meeting us and getting us to the right address. Important to note that there are 5 flights of spiral stairs to reach the apartment. Our group was all able-bodied and Scott was AMAZING at helping us carry all of our luggage UP and DOWN, but this could be a challenge if you have any individuals who may not be able to take that many stairs. Scott was so kind and also flexible about check-in so we didn't miss any must-see parts of Edinburgh. Highly recommend this property!
