    Egmond aan Zee is the most famous place of the three Egmonden and originated as a fishing village in 977. Egmond aan Zee (6000 inhabitants) has been very important for tourism since the beginning of the last century because of its beautiful coastline. The history of Egmond aan Zee is still clearly present in the beach village. Jan van Speijk's lighthouse, the village's landmark, stands prominently on the boulevard.
