Lovely little cabin tucked away at the mountain top! The road is quite challenging to get to the cabin but beautiful view once you arrive. Make sure you have everything you need upon arrival and be sure to follow travel instructions from owner! Host is very accommodating and pleasant although sometimes response via email is delayed. Property caretaker was quick to respond to minor issue. If looking for a quiet, off the grid space, this is a great option!

The host was amazing. Very proactive communication and was very helpful. The cabin was a nice setup for my wife, my elderly parents and our two small dogs. If there will be any strong rains or snow you will need an 4WD/ AWD. My Subaru Outback had no issues.

This probably wouldn’t bother most guests, but I love to cook and there was no light above the stove , so it was hard to see what I was cooking. Everything else was really wonderful!! The host was great too!

Perfect weekend getaway! Cabin was perfect and was exactly what was stated in the listing. The cabin was clean and had the perfect amount of room for our weekend. Excellent, Private, and Peaceful

Marilyn was an excellent host and the entire trip was enjoyable. The house was clean, and the resources/info packet and email made the trip even better! We would recommend this location over any other property we’ve stayed at on Vrbo.

Great stay!

The cabin was wonderful! The power was out when we got there but Marilyn communicated to us before we even go there and the generator provided power to enough of the house to be able to make it work until the power was back on the next morning. We really loved playing scrabble and scattergories (both at the cabin) on the swinging daybeds on the lower deck. We even saw a little armadillo trekking down the mountain one night. Highly recommend! Great host and amazing place to stay :)

One Night is Too Short

Beautiful property! Beautiful, clean cabin with all the amenities. The stay was both relaxing and fun with our family. The only problem was we didn’t book it for more than one night!!

4x4/AWD Recommended!

It's buried in the fine print of the property details, but a 4x4/AWD is recommended for a reason. I didn't read that far into the listing before booking it. I wish they had put that at the beginning of the listing because I wouldn't have booked it if I had known what we were in for. I've done a fair amount of off-roading in 4x4s, 2x4s, motorcycles, etc. and this was a challenge in a 2x4. We were slipping and sliding up the hills. It rained one of the days we were there and we felt stuck in the cabin because, though we could have gotten down the mountain safely, we couldn't have gotten back up it in the mud. There are no guardrails on the roads either. They say it's part of the adventure, but I wanted a relaxing weekend, not an adventure.Once we eventually got to the cabin, it was nice enough. They have a covered hot-tub, which I really liked, but it was set to 80 degrees F. It took several hours to get up to 100, where we like it. We were unable to use it the first day, like I was looking forward to doing after that drive!Their internet service had a few hicups, but nothing major. Verizon reception was good. The power never went out, but I saw what I think was a generator for when it does. Very nice! The smart TVs were nice, but you have to log in with your own info. No services (Netflix, Paramount, etc.) were included. There were some free, Sling channels with ads available, but we grew tired of watching the Dog Whisperer after a few episodes.

Always good to get away from it all.

The property is exactly as it looks in the pictures. Having two seperate king suites with their own bathroom was ideal. All 3 TV's have apps installed so all you need to do is log in with your own information. The Wi-Fi was strong and supported all use. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything needed. When we arrived there was already some ice made in the freezer. The fireplace is as simple as turn on and off with a remote. The temp was very easy to set with a Nest Thermostat. Having two seperate balcony's is a nice touch. The top balcony can only be reached from the interior of the cabin. On that balcony is the hot tub, chairs, and a gas grill. Tub was 100 degrees plus. Gas grill was clean and worked well. View is amazing. The only way to reach the balcony below is by walking on the side of the cabin down. On that balcony are two large swinging chairs/beds and a bar. There is a set of stairs down to the firepit from this balcony. The firepit can also be reached by walking around the other side of the cabin. When we arrived their was some wood already stacked on a wall. Our host Marilyn was very easy to deal and communicated with us often. We had read many comments saying you will need a 4x4 to get to the cabin. We went in April with a Chevy Traverse and had no issues. It was both dry and rainy during our visit. Stick to the directions given and go slow in low gear. As they say, getting there is part of the adventure. We will be back.

Quiet relaxing place to stay high in the mountains

There were 4 traveling for a few days of R&R. The trip up the mountain was a little rough but we managed with a 4 wheel drive. The kitchen had adequate table ware, and coffee pot. We cooked most days using the grill and stove.We had windy days, so we didn't get to use the firepit. If you are looking to have a peaceful relaxing week at a cabin, this is the place. We went several places to hike while we were there so we made trips up and down the mountain several times (20 minutes each way). We enjoyed the stay and Marilyn was very accommodating. Place was clean and plenty of room for 4 adults (separate bedrooms with ensuites was great). Very little traffic comes up as far as we were. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets. I am sure in the Fall it is beautiful with the changing of the leaves. We were there in mid-April.

Perfect Romantic Stay!!

My boyfriend and I had a great time at “A Rustic Hideout.” It was clean, beautiful, and the property manager is THE BEST!! definitely recommend this place to everyone
