Welcome to The Big Dipper - your own secret summer camp tucked into 4 private wooded acres at the top of Wallace Mountain in Ellijay, GA. Up here, the air is genuinely cooler - the thick forest canopy keeps you in deep shade all day, a steady mountain breeze moves through the trees, and the temperature just feels different than the city you left behind. If you've been melting all summer and need a real escape, this is it. Step outside and the whole mountain is yours. Wander the trail down to Tickanetley Creek - a spring-fed mountain stream that runs cool and clear all summer, perfect for wading, splashing, or just sitting on the rocks letting the sound of moving water do its thing. Kick back in the hammock, roast something over the campfire ring, and end the night under dark skies packed with more stars than you've seen in years. The wraparound covered porch with its outdoor fireplace and string lights is your summer headquarters - equal parts slow morning coffee spot and late-night hangout where nobody checks their phone and everyone forgets they had plans to go to bed. When you're ready to venture out, downtown Ellijay and Blue Ridge are an easy drive - wineries, cideries, tubing, waterfalls, and all the small-town summer charm you can handle. What a great camp! The hostess was very communicative throughout our stay, the cabin was so adorable, clean, and cozy. We were able to bring our 2 dogs with us which was an added bonus. It is very private and it felt like we were in a treehouse. Went on a hike in the national forest which borders the property and found a beautiful waterfall. Great time. So relaxing!

Quiet little cabin
Great little cabin for a couple! It was big enough to not feel cramped but cozy enough to get away and relax. We didn’t spend enough time here with all the activities in the area available - Amicalola Falls, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, White Water Rafting near Bryson City, SC. Next time we will plan a day of no activities to enjoy more of what the cabin had to offer.

Down time getaway
We had a great stay at Camp Away. Getting in touch with the property manager was a breeze. The cabin was neat and clean and perfect for my husband and I to get away and spend time together. I only have positive things to say. I will add that the cabin is 30 minutes away from anything to do or eat. We knew this when booking. The road there is a little rough but expect that in the mountains. I would recommend getting there before night fall. The property is great for a romantic trip or even a family trip.

Renew your soul in this comfy cabin
Shinrin-yoku is a form of meditative hiking, and evidence of its benefits is so compelling that writing a prescription for the practice has become standard in Japan. If you want to write an Rx for yourself, make it for The Camp Away! The cabins’ setting is so perfect for R&R that you will not want to go anywhere else. Stock up on groceries, swing by R&A Orchard, then head on over! It’s a little off the beaten path but driving instructions are easy to follow. A bonus of being away from crowded towns is the breathtaking number of visible stars in the sky. And by day, you can take the easy walk down to the creek (a walking stick or trekking pole is recommended) and lose yourself in the forest. You have a porch and a balcony from which to enjoy the view, soak in the sun or feel the breeze. The cabin itself is welcoming and cozy, with charming personality and attention to detail. Despite being away from it all, the wi-fi and TV streaming worked just fine. We cooked all our meals in the kitchen and even enjoyed clean up - the tree view from the kitchen window was positively delightful. This is a perfect getaway and little adventure for couples or families and we will definitely be back

Prior to arriving, I received an email stating the checkin and parking information was included. I messaged that I didn’t receive the parking pass in the email. I was informed it would be in the condo when I arrived. When I opened the condo at 4pm with the code I was given there wasn’t any parking pass. I called multiple times and sent chats texts for help. Finally someone told me I needed to checkin. I was not aware of this and they acted like the check in was in the building, it wasn’t. The next call gave me address but they didn’t know the times it was open and told me to call another number they gave me. That person didn’t know at all. In frustration I drove to the Vacasa location and it was closed at 6pm when checkin was 4pm. I thought that was odd. I did see a drop off and pick up box so I called back again and the person had no clue. It took forever and I went back to the condo, where we found out we couldn’t even be there without wristbands!! So after another call I got a code to try for the lock box and drive back over. There was an envelope with my stuff. Then I return back to the condo where we took showers in a tub that didn’t drain and became a bath plus shower. I lookup and see mold on the ceiling and a dirty washcloth hanging that was dry so must have been there for sometime. Needless to say, I left the shower feeling dirtier than when I entered. I immediately texted about it and a photo. Someone never came. When I grabbed the extra sheets rolled up on the couc
