Awesome mountain cabin in Estes

My son and I had a great staycation in Estes and really enjoyed the Blue Jay Bungalow. It was the perfect size and had everything we needed. I loved my mornings on the porch with the view of Longs Peak. The location was great, too. Close to town but far enough away to have peace and quiet. I would stay here again!

Perfect little cabin, great location

We visit Estes most summers and this area is a favorite for getting into the park. This was a perfect cabin for my husband and I. Looks exactly like the pictures. We didn’t cook but kitchen has all the basics. Water pressure in shower was fabulous! The couch is a bit tired but other than that, the house is comfortable and we would definitely rent again. Oh and the king mattress was super comfy.

Estes Bluebird stay

Extremely close to the action, but at the same time very quiet and peaceful. We saw deer and a bobcat from the property. Never Gabor’s we’re closer than I thought from the pictures, but still very quiet and peaceful. We had a lovely time.

Small Cabin tucked away in the mountains

The cabin was clean and served its purpose. It did not have TV’s in the bedrooms but we really only used it for a place to rest our heads. Our kids used our iPad at night to wind down in the bedroom. It’s located at the end of a road away from town and offers a little bit of privacy. It was nice that they had fans in the closet for night time to pull in some fresh air. Beds were comfortable. Only negatives was there is not a washer and dryer on site. We typically stay at bigger cabins where we wash clothes before our next adventure location. This was owned by a property group and they have washer and dryers in their main location off-site. It also would have been nice to have a light out front for unloading the vehicle. Bring a flashlight so you can see in your car. There is a front porch light for the screened in porch which offers a little light. Internet service worked great for uploading photos of our journey. We saw one elk on property early morning. When we leave a property, we make sure we clean it up and leave it the way we found it.

Cozy Getaway

Loved getting to stay here! My husband and I were on our honeymoon and the cabin was perfect. Conveniently close to a variety of activities and we enjoyed getting to enjoy just relaxing. Having the kitchen to cook meals on was a definite plus. Everything was great!

Beautiful cozy cabin

My family had a wonderful stay at this cabin. The views are excellent and neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. One thing to note is during our stay there is no recliner as pictured (we were disappointed bc my dad needs a recliner to sleep due to reflux), and the pullout couch is slanted when it pulls into a bed (my kids slept on it ok but it was not ideal). A few small fixes and I would rate it as perfect.

Exactly what I expected

We really enjoyed our stay in Bluebird Bungalow. It was in a great location, and although it was nothing fancy it was a perfect little getaway after long days outdoors. My only suggestion would be that some of the windows need screens. But I would 100% stay there again!

Hand-me-down feeling

We would give 3.5 if we could give half points. The location was great- close to downtown Estes and RMNP! The beds and sofa were comfy. The owners responded when I reached out. Overall I would say it was a pretty clean, very basic cabin. However, for the price, I would say this place needs a sprucing up or start charging less to reflect an older cabin. There were nails in the walls where decor used to be. There was a note on the fireplace saying it wasn't working. The kitchen faucet had issues. The toilet functioned just fine, but was wobbly when you sat on it. There was some sort of dribble on the bathroom wall and there was a lipstick lip print on the bedside table. There was about a half-inch of hand soap in the bathroom and no hand soap in the kitchen. The policy gives one spare roll of toilet paper, but what I found strange is that it doesn't matter how long your stay is; you get the same amount of supplies if you are staying two days or seven days. If I am paying the same amount every night of my stay (no discount for staying a full week) then I think there should be ample supplies to cover every night of my stay. Needless to say we had to go buy our own TP. We made the most simple of meals (eggs with toast, pasta with broccoli) and that was all this kitchen could have handled. The dishes were fine, but the cookware, silverware, and utensils were aged. There was one teeny tiny sauce pan with a lid and one average size sauce pan without a lid, so I used a random casserole lid with that pan to steam the veggies. I couldn't cook the pasta and the broccoli at the same time since there were not two pans big enough. I called the owner about a mildewy cutting board and the sharp knife that was so old it bent when we cut apples. I suggested they drop off these supplies along with hand soap and we were very pleased to find these items on the doorstep that evening. There were many suggestions from guests in their sign-in book inside the cabin and I do hope the owners read them- new pans and skillet with lids, scissors for opening food packages, a DVD player, etc. I also suggested actual kitchen towels, but there were paper towels. The cabin (and the kitchen in particular) clearly has a 'hand-me-down' feel which would be fine if it were a personal cabin, but not so fine or expected when families are paying good money to rent it.

Out dated and in need of repairs

Location and cleanliness are all this place had going for it. Many areas in need of repair-screens missing, windows did not all open, refrigerator froze food and drinks even on the lowest setting, hot water in shower screeched when on, sink stopper broken and plugged up sink. Too many issues to name them all.
