The Lodge is about 20 miles from downtown Fairbanks, but if you don’t mind being out of the city, this is idea, especially at this time of year. This is not a “cookie cutter” hotel, but it has the basic necessities. If you’re looking for the Ritz, don’t come here! However, it DOES have spectacular scenery of the mountains and of the night sky (even though there’s not much “night” at this time of year!). Breakfast (eggs how you want them, bacon, and waffles or pancakes) is made & served by Max every morning between 8 & 9. Delicious! Rooms are small, but you won’t be in them much. They are not soundproof, and the floors creak, but the building is historic, so it comes with the territory. All in all, an excellent experience.
