  • Welcome! This newly expanded beach cottage is a peaceful retreat for you. Dog friendly home. Very clean, sunny, quiet and steps away from the private beach and town boat launch where the swimming is incredible. Bring your boat and enjoy Little Bay or cruise over to Cape Cod or the Islands. Separate parking for boat trailer on the property. Come and enjoy Fairhaven at its finest. The cottage has 1 bedroom with a queen bed, and sofa that is a pull out bed that can sleep 2, newly added full sunroom, 2 flat screen televisions, washer/dryer, outdoor shower in season, towels, and a fun outdoor fireplace with comfortable seating. There is also a fully applianced kitchen complete with cookware, silverware and utensils. Just across the harbor visit downtown New Bedford boasting fine restaurants offering the freshest seafood on the East Coast. New Bedford is experiencing a cultural renaissance in the downtown area and there are great art galleries, the Whaling Museum (awesome), gift shops, and specialty stores. Hop on the "Fast Ferry" service at the Port Authority Terminal in New Bedford and take a day trip to Martha's Vineyard, CuttyHunk, or Nantucket. Heading east on RT195h and your at the Bourne bridge to Cape Cod. Chose to just settle in for a "off the grid" quiet romantic weekend or an intimate gathering with family and friends! Fairhaven offers some of the most serene coastal nature preserves and bike trails the region has to offer. Take advantage of all the beauty and amenities of a Cape Cod vacation with out all the traffic and expense. If you have a boat the loading dock is at the end of the street...free!. Great restaurants and places to visit all around the area. We provide maps and detailed fun things to do in the area at the cottage....Bring your kayaks, bikes, water shoes and flip flops! Enjoy!

    West Island is located on Buzzard's Bay in Fairhaven, Massachusetts.

    It is 65 miles south of Boston and 50 miles East of Providence, RI.
    The bridges to Cape Cod are 30 miles east, Plymouth, MA is 35 miles away and Newport, Rhode Island is a short 38 mile drive.

A wonderful 9 days! The owners considered our every need. Close by there is so much fresh sea food The bay at the end of the street is warm, great for swimming. Nights are quiet, cool. And the cottage is “home “. We will return, but for longer!

Enchanting stay

We would agree that the place was absolutely comfortable and cozy. We highly recommend this cottage. The amenities, location, and comfort was everything we hoped for. The host were outstanding and very responsive.

Charming Beach Cottage

The lovely garden cottage is so picturesque. It is a stones throw to the beach & has an incredible outdoor shower - I didn’t want to leave !

Best Little Cottage in Fairhaven

The cottage was cute, comfortable and had everything we needed. It was a 2 minute walk to the beach and a short drive to to shops and restaurants. We will definitely stay here again! Thanks for making are stay enjoyable!

Nice and cozy. Pretty small main cottage but with a very attractive sunroom across the patio. Perfect place for 2 and within very short distance of the water.

Enchanting garden cottage offering , private outdoor rain shower, fully stocked eat-in kitchen with gas cooking, open floor plan with queen sized bed, large indoor bath with in-unit laundry, tile floors, recessed lighting, double skylights , 2nd cottage offers stunning sitting room with pull out couch for additional sleep area, large outdoor dining patio area perfect for grilling & private beach ! Great little cottage

Cute beach cottage, very clean and decorated really nice. Enjoyed our stay there and the host, Joan is wonderful. She even left snacks and lots of supplies if you needed them. Thank you again, Joan for your hospitality and letting us stay at your home. 😊

Quaint and Cozy Cottage Stay

This was the best cottage with everything we needed. So close to the boat ramp and beach with excellent views. The cottage was clean and quaint with plenty of space for two. Backed up onto a preserve-like backyard, this gave us privacy when we were enjoying the patio space. Super inviting and host was easy to communicate with. Loved it and would stay again. :)

Dominant house in photo is not rental. House obsequred by tree is the rental. Not enough hanging space. Single room in left house is part of rental.

By the Seashore

We were delighted to get there from Vermont. Our weather was not great, but we kayaked, biked, enjoyed the historical sights, the Whaling Museum a lot and Rick swam. Had sensational food at Ricarrdi's. We would not recommend the Bait and Hook out by the west beach at all = Very Disappointing. As for your accomodations we both fit in well. We would suggest that perhaps you take some of the items off of the book case so there is more room for our odds and ends. In the batheroom perhaps some of the space on the little shelves to the left of the toilet might be freed up for a few of you guests things. Also maybe move the conch shell on teh back of the toilet so there is room there. Not much space for toiletries. Also, a towel rack in the bathroom or somewhere would be helpful. Our weather was not clear enough to put our towels outside. We loved the outdoor shower.We have one too and that was ideal. And you had so many things for us to use that were so useful in case we forgot. I loved the space in the next door house. That was my favorite. In your ad it looks like that is the house you are renting. We did not know there would be two "houses". Thank you for your generosity. We may come again. We enjoyed the neighborhood. Everyone was very friendly. It was too chilly for the beach, but so convenient. We had a very nice time. Again our thanks. Jody and Rick

Great weekend getaway

Overall an amazing stay. Cute little cottage with a nice relaxing patio and sunroom. I loved being close to the beach and close to all the local attractions. The Hosts Joan and Mike were very responsive and easy to get in touch with. We look forward to visiting again.

The property was adorable, everything one might need being away from home was there for you. Host thought of everything. Very clean, cutely decorated, awesome area, so close to the beach. Host responded quickly to any questions we may have had. Very accommodating. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone. We would love to stay there again.

Owners responded quickly to any issues. Could have provided more info onTV use as well as trash/recycling pick up day.

Quiet retreat

This tiny cottage worked well for me and my small dog, very cozy but cheerful. The neighborhood is quiet, except for a little road traffic to the.boat ramp at the end.of the street. A good spot for restful getaway. The kitchen is tiny but well supplied. While I would suggest an upgrade in the.bed linens, overall the place gets very high marks.

Once again, we had a wonderful stay at Joan”s cottage and look forward to returning next year! It’s great to have every need anticipated. The beach is beautiful and private. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient to everything.

Great little get-away

Fun little property to be by the water and get off the grid for a bit. Easy to get around. Great to be by the water and have access to a beach. Able to bring pups for a convenient bonus. Nice town center with quaint streets and nice bike path. Excellent location to get to the fast ferry to Martha’s Vineyard etc. Enjoyable time…thank you for the stay!

Perfect way to relax

The location and logistics were very easy, which is good for us seniors. Simple unpretentious seaside area, and quiet with lots of birds right next to the patio. Would return. Easy to explore from if the spirit moves you. Water close by. Great Portuguese food in New Bedford.

Great cottage in coastal Massachusetts

We had a great time staying at the cottage- we found the location perfect. My kids loved walking down to the beach on the bay! The location is also in close proximity to bigger beaches, New Bedford attractions, the ferry to the islands, and cape cod. Our teenager loved her pull out couch in the separate building - three steps away from the main cottage, close enough yet separate enough, the perfect teenager haven. My little one stayed on the pull out futon in the main cottage. Everything was well stocked, super comfortable. The hosts were easy to contact and super helpful. Highly recommend this delightful rental!

Great getaway to refresh and rejuvenate!

My husband and I like to find quiet space to rejuvenate and this was perfect! Spent hours on the beach - litterly watched the tide role in and out. Lots of good food close by and quiet neighborhood. Lisa (neighbor) was super nice and enjoyed walking our dogs together.

Quaint and convenient

Joan’s cottage sits near a bay and is a great place to walk to and enjoy the scenery. The neighborhood is quiet and the home has everything you could need. Joan was easy to reach if needed and the check-in and check-out process was easy. Thanks Joan!
