Weekend getaway
We love this property! I love the cleanliness of the cabin and the amenities. My husband and kids love playing in the river. We didn’t get to see a train this time, but hopefully next time. We all love this cabin and will be back!

Almost Heaven
On the wall of the Wildwood Cabin at Paradise in the Woods is a poster that says, "And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul." Our experience there provided the perfect opportunity to detach from our workaday world, listen to the river, and watch the leaves fall. Cheryl was an incredible host, providing detailed directions to the property and responding quickly to my pre-visit questions. The cabin was very clean and bright and loaded with amenities to make our stay comfortable. The decor was "woodsy" and complemented the mood of the property. There was ample room for our group of 5 adults to spread out for "me time" and gather together for meals, games, and camp fires. There are a few things for which travelers must prepare: The private "driveway" to the Cabin is long and narrow, a combination of dirt and gravel, with lots of ruts. Winter visitors are advised to bring their four-wheel drive vehicles. The circular stairway leading from the main floor to the ground floor is very narrow and almost impossible to navigate while carrying luggage or munchies; however, it is possible to go outside and around to access the area. The water smells of sulfur. It is soft and fine for showering, but we recommend bringing drinking water. Finally, the Cabin is truly out in the middle of nowhere, and there's little to do in the "nearby" towns (besides the Insane Asylum), so plan to stay in and enjoy the togetherness. We did.

Beautiful Seclusion
We were there in early August of 23. The cabin is beautiful and in a beautiful setting, but it is very secluded. 40 mins or so to any gas or groceries so plan accordingly. The road in is pretty rough, but we made it with some non 4 wheel drive vehicles. The cabin has lots of great amenities and the owners are very attentive and friendly. The AC died a couple of days after we got there and they showed up almost immediately with window units. They got the AC fixed within a couple of days. The river is close and very walkable and was fun and/or relaxing depending on what you want to do. There is a sandy beach like area to hang out. We took inflatable tubes and floated down a mile or two then walked the railroad tracks back which go right by the cabin. Only 1 train went by the entire week we were there so train noise wasnt an issue. Even though it is remote, the wifi worked great all week. There are several parks less than an hour away with great trails and a wildlife center 15 mins away where you can see some cool animals. We had a great trip and would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a beautiful place in the woods

Secluded Family Getaway
The house is very nice, the area is beautiful and very private and relaxing. We came with extended family (6 adults, 3 children) and had plenty of room for everyone. As everyone has mentioned, the stairs can be challenging, but are not unmanageable. Some in our party preferred to walk the driveway up and down. The fire pit is great. I recommend ordering the wood. It was there, stacked, covered, and ready for us when we arrived. Cheryl is a great host, very helpful, and responded quickly to messages. The beach area is a short walk, but worth it. I would recommend life vests for littles as the water is deep and swift in some areas. However there are other areas that are calm and more shallow. Plenty of areas to fish as well. All in all, we had a wonderful time. There was something for everyone to do, if they wanted to do more than just relax in the peaceul surroundings. If I were to make any suggestions, I would say maybe a few extra towels for showering or cleaning up spills and a new set of tupperware as some was cracked or missing lids, but we really did not have any complaints at all. We had an amazing 7 nights. We would definitely go again.

Really is Paradise in the Woods!
We loved our stay here. The cabin is very isolated and at the bottom of a gravel driveway that made us a little nervous the first time down. The cabin itself is clean and well kept. We enjoyed swimming and fishing in the river and walking up and down the train tracks, as well as having a campfire at night and playing cornhole, pool, and lots of board games. We did do a bit of exploring in the area which meant a lot of driving as the cabin is really out there! If you want to get away from it all, this is a great place to do it!

Wonderful Scenic Get-away

Nice getaway
We would stay here again, the cabin was cute and cozy enough room for everyone that stayed. The host was very nice and accommodating. It was secluded, no one bothered us and it was close to a river to fish had a little beach area to sit and relax and swim or fish . It had everything we needed, and was clean. We would definitely recommend staying here.

The cabin is well secluded but in a nice piece a land. The creek access has a large swim area unfortunately it was too cold for a dip (I visit in February) but we still sat there and just enjoyed the view and the sounds. The cabin itself was well stocked, with wifi and entertainment. We didn’t get bored my family didn’t even have the urge to venture around the town all they wanted to do is stay in. I do recommend to order the wood and fire starters from the host, it rained but she had covered them and it was dry and waiting for us to be ready for our night around the fire. It made it easy. It was great, we enjoyed it very much.

Shaky Start but a Wonderful Time
There had been snow prior to our arrival which had apparently melted some during the day of our check in. As the temperature dropped, the long, hilly driveway became ice. Our expedition turned in to a sled but luckily did not go down the hill on the side of the drive. After parking and walking to the cabin, roughly half mile, we figured our trip was doomed. After talking to Cheryl and sliding some more the next day, she made arrangements for gravel to be delivered. The temperature rose enough for the driveway to be drive able the next two days so all ended well. Cheryl was great and was very apologetic. The trip otherwise was amazing. The property was super clean and welcoming. The cabin is very cute and was just the right size. The spiral steps are kind of a pain for non children sized people but that and the softened of the downstairs bed were our only gripes if we're being picky. The location near the river was peaceful and private! We loved the full kitchen and having a charcoal grill was nice. Sitting by the electric fireplace, with a small Christmas tree nearby was an amazing way to end each night! We will be staying again as we loved the property and Cheryl was a great host!

Perfect christmas getaway
First off, we stayed during the crazy snow and wind storm christmas of 2022. The drive to the cabin is very hilly and windy and narrow. But we did it even in the snow and ice (4wheel drive was a must for that). You truly are in the middle of no where. But the cabin was beautiful, clean and honestly very spacious. The kitchen was very well equipped. Wifi worked great (all 4 of us were streaming and watching tv). The pool table was so fun. Yes the staircase is small and throws you for a loop the first time or two. but then it was fine. Up and down we went. We played lots of pool, watched lots of tv and just relaxed a ton. They had a tiny christmas tree there, which was perfect. Great deck if the weather was better. Master is downstairs and is chilly. but they had an extra heater for us. We just stuck the heater in the room a few hrs before bed with door shut and boom we were super cozy! We would like to come back and hike in the summer. Owners were prompt at answering and just the sweetest!

Cute cabin on nearby river in the woods.
My husband and I stayed there for a weekend get away for our 41st wedding anniversary. The cabin is so cute and cozy and well decorated. It was very clean and just as described in the photos and the ad. It was not exactly on the river though and there was a short walk to get there.. Everything was very clean, in great condition, cozy and comfortable. The only downfall was was there was a very narrow straight up and down spiral staircase connecting the upstairs to the downstairs and it was very narrow and very hard to climb. That was a little disappointing. To get to the pool table we had to go outside and around the cabin. It was easier on us this way. Also we barely had enough water pressure to take a shower. We brought our own drinking water because the cabin's water had a mineral taste which we knew about from the ad. Bring lots of water!! Overall it was a great place to stay.. We would recommend it.

Green Crider Family Retreat
Family members (8) came to the cabin on Monday, 1 spent the night and 4 of us enjoyed eating, cooking, the wild life. We saw Buchannon and joined family in Elkins for a day of laughter and cold trout fishing. The property was just what a group of 68 plus year olds get off the grid for awhile. We came for the colors and the wildlife and it might be the last time some of us will see each other!

Perfect Family Getaway!
This property and surrounding area is absolutely beautiful and was a perfect getaway for our family vacation. The pool table was great for friendly family competition. The river was great for morning walks and relaxing. The fire pit was a personal favorite for relaxing each evening after a good grilling session. The kitchen was very well equipped as well!! Thank you for such a wonderful getaway at the Paradise in the Woods.

I rented both cabins situated along the Buckhannon River and will be short and sweet in this review. Hands down, these two rentals are the most peaceful and cleanest properties I've ever rented via VRBO. I highly recommend!

We have stayed at the other property at this site 4 years ago. We had such a wonderful time then that we decided to come back and stay at both this time! The house is beautiful. The views are breathtaking. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation home to stay at. I am sure we will be back in a few more years!

The property was a little harder to get to then we expected. The electric went out quite a few times, which also knocked the wifi out so we had no way to communicate with the outside world in case of emergency - we had people coming to join us wouldn't have been able to get ahold of us if needed. I had to drive 40 minutes to get a signal, which was inconvenient. HOWEVER! Cheryl did EVERYTHING in her power to help us out. She bought candles , flashlights and a lantern in case the electric went out again. There was a place in the driveway that washed away, we were afraid the non 4 wheel drive cars wouldn't be able to get out, but they came and fixed that too. Overall the property was beautiful and peaceful, I would definitely stay there again!

Nice stay, hard to communicate with manager due to no service.
This is definitely in the middle of no where. We enjoyed the river a lot, caught some fish, kids swam and had a great time. Even got to see the train go by. We did have one incident where we didn't have any internet for most of the stay. It never did get fixed. We found ways to entertain ourselves but made it impossible to communicate with anyone including the owner.

This is definitely a Cabin in the middle of the forest. Very modern and cozy and a great place to spend time with family. We enjoyed swimming in the river and on the rainy days, we had fun in the pool room and playing board games. A great place to spend quality time with family.

Great long weekend get away!
Family from NY and NC met in the middle and we had such a relaxing stay! Great gathering space, plenty of sleeping space. We had everything we needed. Beautiful house with upper deck to view the woods, river and tracks. The sound of the river was soothing. We walked the trail to the river and skipped rocks and built a rock tower. Great stay!

Winter paradise.

This was a great experience for my family and friends. Great weekend getaway. You will need a all wheel drive vehicle to get there in the winter or whenever it snows. Very clean cabin, very unique. Will be visiting again soon. Few suggestions: Please add curtains to the windows and all doors. The kids were scared at night since all windows are open and door downstairs had no way to close up with a curtain. Also not sure if the heater isn’t worker at it’s full potential, but downstairs is freezing cold and the small heater provided does not do anything to heat up downstairs.

Beautiful secluded cabin with river!
Our goal was to take our Floridian family to see snow for the first time and boy did we get a full on experience with about a foot plus snow! It was beautiful!! The property has so many views that you could imagine in a painting, we came away with family memories and great pictures! The property manager was amazing! Cheryl and her husband checked in on us a few times knowing it was our first time seeing snow and that we had a little more snow than anticipated. Cheryl was very responsive to our messages and they went above and beyond making sure we had supplies. In the end they also helped us get out to the main roads! (Make sure you have an AWD vehicle if you go in the winter, we had no issues until the snow fell and our 2wd car could not handle) thank you Cheryl and Greg for helping us out! Your hospitality was greatly appreciated! We will definitely be back….. in the summer 😅😂

The cabin was very wonderful, we came during the snow and luckily had a 4wd car which if you didn't you would of never made it to the cabin. The cabin was very clean, everything worked fine. would recommend if your just wanting to get away from everything and relax with family or friends.

Amazing weekend!
We were able to stay the weekend before Christmas and the house had everything we needed. It was cold outside due to being December but we were able to take a walk along the river and skip rocks and the kids loved the basket hoop outside and we were able to build a fire in the fire pit one of the nights. The inside of the house was awesome. The kitchen had everything we needed, bathrooms had plenty of towels and the bedrooms were clean with lots of extra blankets. There were also lots of things to do indoor including a pool table, board games, Roku TV and there was also corn hole. We had ages 8 to adult and everyone was entertained and had a wonderful time! We will definitely be back in the summer to play on the river and hike in the woods some more!

Great two family get away.
Everything was new and clean. Beds very comfortable. Loved the creek and property. Spiral staircase was unique and a little tight, but no issues. Definitely use the extra blankets if you are in the downstairs bedroom in cold weather. Overall loved it.
