  • Set your sites on a Hatteras Island vacation and navigate yourself to Steer. Located in Frisco on a serene canal in Brigand's Bay, Steer has advantageous one-level living, great views, and miles of quiet subdivision streets perfect for a relaxing bike ride or evening stroll. When you arrive, excitement will surely set in when you find the large yard and private boat dock suitable for a boat or kayak and perfect for fishing and crabbing. A boat ramp is available next door at the owner's home. A lockable storage room is also accessible from the ground level.

    The living area welcomes you with warm wood floors, high ceilings, and breathtaking views. Boasting new comfy furnishings, your home away from home provides ample seating for everyone to gather and spin tales of the day's catch. The galley-style, eat-in kitchen is ready to prepare the catch of the day or your family's favorite dish. As the sun begins to set into the Pamlico Sound, dock yourself on the deck to watch the picturesque sunset as you blissfully lounge. The bedrooms are all freshly furnished with new queen beds purchased in 2024, ensuring a good night's rest. Set sail for Steer!

The house was super comfy and clean, and it was the best-stocked kitchen of any vacation rental we’ve ever been to. Clean bathrooms. Loved soaking up the November sun on the deck. We really love this peaceful, quiet, and friendly neighborhood. The host is nearby and was so friendly and eager to help, though everything went so smoothly all week we didn’t need anything we didn’t have. 10/10 would stay here again. Thank you!

Great place

This is our second time staying and we love it. It’s a very comfortable cottage with everything you need to enjoy your vacation. It is in a great neighborhood that is quiet and peaceful. Communication with owner is very good. Would recommend as a great value and a very comfortable place to stay. Hopefully we will be back soon.

The Perfect Home!

This is the 2nd time I have booked this home and will again. I love that it’s one level, with minimal stairs. The beds and all furniture are very comfortable and it has everything you need for cooking meals. Its location in a quiet, residential neighborhood with areas to bike are a major plus. The dock provided hours of fishing fun and it is pet friendly.

Loved it!

The house was the cleanest house we have ever rented on Hatteras Island. The house and furnishings were very comfortable and the house felt like a home, not a rental. The location of the property was perfect for riding bikes and Kayaking to the sound and other canals. In other words, it was a perfect vacation and a lot of that had to do with the accommodations and friendly neighbors! Thanks to the owner for allowing us to stay in your home and for being a great neighbor!

This was our first time staying in this house and really liked it. The house was very well stocked and clean. The beds were firm and very comfortable (this alone will be a reason for us to stay again). The biggest complaint has nothing to do with the house, but the rental agency in that check in time is at 5:00 which seems really late. The only other issue with the house is the very finicky door lock, it works but it takes more than a second to get it to work.

Beautiful location and property

Vrbo turned into Vacasa. Ended up with inaccurate listing of amenities but they did refund us for our losses. Just need to make sure Vacasa is now on the same page with owners.

Vascasa overcharging

Travis the owner is AMAZING. Having him as our neighbor could not have been any better. This review however is for vacasa... The pictures were incorrect i have screen shots of them and the emails i got. The listing said outdoor recreation and stated i would receive a separate email to get discount rentals. WRONG!! After several calls and emails they claim they do not do this. Again i have screen shots of everything. Then to beat all they changed the pictures after i questioned about the kayaks in the pictures. All the fees they charge and the hassle DO NOT USE VACASA!! SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

Home is FANTASTIC! Vacasa leaves much to be desired.

I wish Vacasa would not be so vague about their request for reviews, and ask a few more questions about THEIR performance and my satisfaction, or in this case, lack thereof. The home itself is awesome. Been staying there many years. The owners are even more awesome than the home. 37 years dealing with Outer Beaches Realty, and Vacasa has owned Hatteras Realty for several years now??????? Vacasa has no clue what the long term vacationers to this Island want. This WAS an affordable place for middle class people to come and enjoy a week. We do not need all your fees for linen service, nor do we need to pay the $250 for "free" beach gear rentals! We already have what we want and need, and don't need your outrageous mark ups to sugar coat your alleged bargains. Why, Vacasa, do you not allow early check-ins? If a home is ready to be occupied, what do you have to gain by telling people who have traveled many hours that they must wait until 6PM to check in? Especially when the office closes at 5. Are we not worthy of confronting y'all face to face? We were told a week in advance that, being we know the owner of the property, and that he allowed us access early that they would check us in at 4PM. We arrived at the home shortly after noon. We had the vehicles unloaded, entire house set up, and even the crab pot baited and in the water by 2PM. I went back up to Avon to check in at about 4:30PM. After much confusion, I was told at nearly 5PM that the home was not ready yet! STAY AWAY FROM VACASA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will be screwed with the outrageous fees, the lies, and many conflicting e-mails regarding check-in/check-out procedures. Stay with one of the remaining locally owned realtors while renting on this Island! Vacasa, you have no idea about what Hatteras Island is all about!
