Perfect House for a Family Vacation with Children

The house was perfect for our multi-generational family vacation. The children (2-5 years old) loved the yard and game room, and the adults got the game room to themselves when the children went to bed. The grounds are lovely and well maintained and the house is very comfortable. Martin, our host, was very responsive. We did not rent cars, so we used a tour company for day trips and also used taxis for nearby destinations. Thank you Martin!

Annual Easter getaway

What a fantastic Arts and Crafts house. It didn’t fail to impress huge space we weren’t falling over each other kitchen was fantastic with plenty space to cook all utensils glasses plates etc were excellent. Absolutely loved the huge dining table can only say fantastic

Family 50th birthday

Fantastic property. 16 of us for a family birthday. Lots of different spaces so we werent on top of each other all the time. The teens really enjoyed the games room. It was also great having all of us round the huge dining table. Location is ideal so we walked in to Galashiels and also in to tweedbank , no need to get in the car.

60 years married

We celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary with friends and family. We had a wonderful time. The house is ideal and the location excellent for touring the beautiful towns and countryside of the Scottish border country. The owner was extremely helpful and welcoming. We made wonderful new memories!

Great House and even better owner

Weekend Break

Exceptionally beautiful period property. Stunning. Online pictures do not do it justice. Perfectly clean and has everything you need in the kitchen ( although kitchen is a little quirky and it might take you a while to find things). Plenty of exercise circumnavigating the kitchen island. But we did venture out further in the rain and easy walking from the house to and then along the river and to The Great Scottish Tapestry. The property is on a busy road but well set back so that is in no way an issue while in the property but does mean each walk started and ended along the road.

Best stay ever!!!

Martin was a great host. From booking to check out was perfect. Martins home is the very best we’ve ever stayed in. Absolutely perfect for a large family/friends gathering. We hired a private chef to cook for my husbands 60th birthday and the chef was delighted with how well laid out the kitchen was and she found everything she needed to cook a fab dinner. The dining room had ample space for the 12 guests and could easily accommodate more. There were several areas for us to sit together or sit in smaller groups. The bedrooms all had lovely en suite bathrooms which was good for all of the guests. We would definitely want to stay here again and Martin was a brilliant host!!

Fletcher family at Maplehurst

The property is exceptional. Everyone in the party of 14 adults was very impressed. We loved the house (bedrooms were amazing), its facilities (games room, especially), and we really enjoyed exploring the well-maintained gardens. The kitchen was well-appointed, though not so easy to work with when cooking for 14+ people. But, we got by ok in the end! Being able to sit everyone in the dining room was fantastic! The property ouzes class and refinement. Brilliant!

Large family trip abroad

Our family plans an annual trip every year and we are always looking for a large house to accommodate our group, that includes outdoor space for kids to play, multiple living spaces, and plenty of rooms/bathrooms. Martin's home in Galashiels exceeded all of our expectations. The house was perfectly situated to walk or easily drive into town and very close to Melrose, which is also lovely. Martin was easy to access via WhatsApp for any needs and permitted us to have an early check-in as we were traveling from the States. We took several day trips by train to Edinburgh and also went fly fishing on the River Tweed. Our kids loved playing soccer in the croquet area and there are many hiking trails in the woods in the back. Would highly recommend this house for large groups and Martin is a wonderful host.

Would love to have stayed for longer!

Booked this as it suited a large family gathering for a 50th birthday. Everyone loved it, space was amazing, kitchen very well equipped (although I think we could have filled the fridge twice over!). We were very lucky with the weather so made the most of the garden, would only say that a few more seats or loungers go down well in this instance. Plenty of parking spaces and well set back from the road. Owner contacted us before arrival and communication was clear. Can’t really fault it and would love to stay again!

Arts and Crafts beauty

This property is the best I have ever stayed at. After many visits to Scotland we decided to take 6 of our best friends on a Borders tour. This location is very central to many places we visited 7 days passed too quickly. The property owners were so kind and generous with their time, their knowledge of the home and the area were very helpful. I would encourage anyone looking to snap this up. Maplehurst is a diamond.

Family birthday celebration

Just returned from family weekend break at Maplehurst House Have had many weekend family breaks in past but this stay was exceptional. Martin our host was wonderful and could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The house and grounds were beautiful with many extra little touches which we really appreciated. We all agreed we would definitely return here.

Perfect House

We had an amazing time at the property. This house had everything we needed for an amazing weekend family gathering. The Borders is such a beautiful area and this house is a perfect base to explore the area.
