Staff excellent but hotel misdescribed…

Beautiful setting, our villa in the trees was very nice with a downstairs plunge pool. The hotel is amidst thick jungle habitat with walkways between the residences. Service from the staff was second to none, Gayan, Sanjeewa and the chef were excellent and so friendly and professional. I was very disappointed that this hotel is advertised as having a gym and other leisure facilities but upon arrival were told we needed to either walk or drive the km to the Jetwing Lighthouse to use their facilities. It took the shine off our two nights at Kurulubedda, also this property does not have an alcohol licence so we were unable to even buy a beer to cool off after a hot day.

Trevlig personal. Mycket god mat, både frukost och middag. Personalen kom med förslag på goda lokala rätter. Fantastiskt djurliv utanför dörren. Perfekt ställe för att uppleva naturen.

Valgte å ikke bo på dette hotellet pga svært ustabile tilbakemeldinger og usikkerhet omkring hotellet. Vi prøvde å opprette dialgo med Jetwing for å endre reservasjonen til deres Lighthouse hotell, men Jetwing var direkte svak i kundedialogen og vi fikk aldri noen tilbakemelding fra dem. Fraråder å benytte Jetwing generelt pga deres kundeservice.

False advertising.Not recommended.Daylight robbery

Not sure what the hype is about this place, but just as you enter this hotel you may be confused and dissapointed as we were. You will be driving through residential areas about 1km from the main road, and entering the hotel right next to random local backyards. The hotel is situated inland, built around a small man made paddy field next to a swimming pool, which is your 'view' for the entire stay. What they do not explain when booking the hotel is that the lighthouse hotel is the main hotel (where you have to go for meals,spa,or any facility you would expect in a normal hotel including a reception to check in and check out) and these are only rooms that you spend the night in at night, and that in the event that you do decide to use a hotel facility for your leisure, you will be paying for a taxi from your own pocket everytime to get to the main hotel, as the hotel does not cover this.My friend and I both being female, did not particularly feel safe during these taxi rides at night as the road inland does not have street lighting, and passing through local deprived housing in the dark does not make you feel safe.We made a complaint to the main hotel's manager and requested to switch rooms to a room at the main hotel, which initially the gentleman at reception agreed to and said he will check as there was a room available at a cheaper rate than what we paid, to which she declined saying that is not allowed and that they do get similar complaints frequently.Not worth the$paid.

Secluded luxury 10 mins from Galle

We booked this hotel last minute and knew that jetwings was a good local company but it was difficult from the description to understand how close it was to everything and how easy it was to get to the jetwing lighthouse. We arrived and checked in at the main jetwing lighthouse hotel and it was a very short tuk tuk ride (100 rupees) or walk between the 2 properties (the local driving is pretty hectic so whilst it was a short 7-10 min walk-as a non local and there being no footpath we took the tuk tuk most times) Kurulebedda is a beautifully designed property with I think 5 rooms which overlook a small paddy field. You can choose to have breakfast in the villa or go to the main lighthouse for the excellent buffet breakfast. There is an infinity pool at the villa property and they arranged a small boat trip as part of the stay. There are a couple of full time staff available at all times and they went out of their way to help, very friendly. The Lighthouse main hotel has 2 large pools and a great spa and you can use. We dined at the fine dining restaurant one evening and the food and wine was excellent. The hotel is beautifully clean and well maintained and the ac was very good the best we had in Sri Lanka! Highly recommend for a secluded location (with own large patio and outdoor lounge area) but with access to large hotel facilities and all that Galle has to offer.

Expect to forgo the experience

Booked Kurulubedda for 4 on Expedia but the reception staff informed us that they could accommodate only two. Check in is at the affiliated larger property Lighthouse. The reception staff at the Lighthouse were trying to make it out that we should have known that the Kururulbedda property cannot accommodate 4 people in one villa. After a lot of negotiating, management intervened to accommodate the party of four at the Jetwing Lighthouse. However, the rooms assigned at the Lighthouse were not the best with little to no privacy when the room windows were kept open. The restaurant staff are excellent the and other facilities such as the pool are OK at the Lighthouse. The management at Jetwing need to make sure that correct information is given to travel agencies such as Expedia so that the customer is not inconvienced and does not lose out on the expected experience.

Hard to review when we didn't stay

We actually stayed at the jetting lighthouse as there was an issue with our booking - be warned the Kurulubedda is not where the map indicates and you have to check in at the jetting lighthouse. The lighthouse is a great hotel - very comfortable stay

Pretending in luxury

A delightful setting, comfortable facilities and obliging staff who couldn't do enough yet respected privacy. Food superb, individually prepared and in amounts to feed an army! Private plunge pool a real asset. For a few days pretending to get away from it all, cannot be beaten. Only criticism is that check-in and check-out at the main hotel (The Lighthouse) was rather chaotic - forgotten about (twice) during the former and charged twice during the latter. Oh yes.... and don't forget the Jungle Juice!

Romantic hideaway

The ideal spot for a romantic hideaway .... it has no restaurant or other facilities, breakfast can be ordered .... one can use the superb pool at the lighthouse hotel (1km away) ... and also the restaurants there for the board purchased .... very humid ... you would stay mostly in your room I would say ... or walking the gardens with local produce outside ... not recommended for a single lady ... due to remoteness ....

Kurulubedda or not to bedda!

Kurulubedda is an anexe of the excellent Jetwing Lighthouse, we booked Kuru' for 6 nights after a weeks touring in Sri Lanka. Luckily this was reduced to 3 after the Lighthouse found a room for us for 3 nights. Kuru feels a bit neglected and although it trades on being 'in the jungle' it isnt really. The houses are OK and the view good and you are surrounded by trees alrthough we had a view of tower block over the trees. There is a chef who tried very hard to please but his recourses are limited and food no more than average and no beer! OK for a couple of nights for honeymooners I would say but not an experience we would repeat.
