Our trip started arriving at this property and it was clear that there was no outside attention to the property in quite some time. We feared this as we have been down in Galveston on previous weekends since we have bought a beach home there now and we would drive by the rental as we were looking forward to our vacation there but noticed nothing was being done, post the freeze as the outside looked unkept. Regardless, we hoped for the best when we arrived in week but alas, nothing changed when our we got there and our vacation time started. There was a lot of dead vegetation around the property and leaves and palm litter everywhere. All three trash cans were full and smelled terribly due to an apparent previous renter putting a lot of dead bait shrimp in them. Thankfully, the inside of the home had been cleaned and was of what you would expect from a well run rental, this part was good. Once we got our belongings inside we went outside to use the hoses on the upper deck to wash the table and white chairs up there off to enjoy them. When my wife turned on the "pocket hose", it was split, apparently from the freeze we think? We let Nicole know this and she said not problem and she would replace it. After our stay, she gave us 5 stars as a renter but now we have been advised by our travel insurance, Nicole turned in a damage claim against us for the replacement of the already split hose and in addition claimed we damaged two small throw blankets which has left us scratching our heads ??? sinc we left the home absolutely perfect as instructed. Our family is very clean and we take excellent care of our property and treat others the same at all times. Overall, this property is in need of maintenance. The outdoor shower did not work as it was damaged during the freeze and not fixed also no water at the downstairs Tiki bar so we did not ever use that during our stay since it was non-functional. The boat slip was also unusable since the boat straps are mid way down and there is no power at the electrical switch to raise them so you can pull your boat into the coverd slip. I had to tie our boat to the outside of the boat dock area and anchored my boat using it's dual power poles in the canal. We hosed off all of the debris downstairs on under the house so it would be clean during our stay. There is also a water pressure issue in the master shower. Good luck if you rent and if you do, definitely get renter's insurance to protect yourself.
