Beachfront Designer Home on Pirates Beach

  • This water's edge house sleeps 12 and has interiors by Houston-based designer, Jeanne St. Paul of Merritt Lauren Laine. It includes a gorgeous Master Suite with private bath and home office area on its own floor, accompanied by two luxurious Queen bedrooms and two bunk-bedrooms on the second floor. You will never miss the ocean in this house, as every room has an unobstructed view of the water and direct access to one of the two outdoor decks. The large open kitchen features new appliances and marble countertops and overlooks a spacious den with room for your entire group to spread out and relax, whether it be watching TV on the oversized sectional, cozying up by the wood burning fireplace, or entertaining at the dining table. If you venture out onto the deck you will find chairs for lounging, and a space for entertaining. The Master boasts its own private deck on the top floor, ensuring that you are just steps from the salt air no matter where you are in the house. This beach retreat is also equipped with the best internet available for the area allowing for great streaming or if needing to work while visiting.

    Pirates Beach is a private beach. The benefit of a private beach is they are better kept and much less crowded than the nearby public beaches. Pirates Beach is also a vehicle free beach.

I was here with my husband, sons, daughters in law and my 5 grandchildren. The location could not have been better!! The grandchildren played in the sand while we sat next to them on the porch. No packing chairs, shade snacks or toys. Every thing was right here. We will definitely be back

Location was Awesome! There were a few minor maintenence items needing done Didn't get to use hot tub, no water in it, no furniture on lower deck. Its a cool house, and the location is awesome. Thanks

Right on the Beach

What a fun-filled trip! The owner of the property could not have been more kind and accommodating. We loved our time there and can't wait to go back. This was perfect for families with small children - the space downstairs, right on the beach, can't be beat!

Overall a great time!

This was the second trip we had to this beautiful beach property. Overall, it was a great stay. Check in and check out went smoothly and the place was clean but definitely starting to show some signs of age. The hot tub was unfortunately out of order and drained so we didn’t get any use of that. The electronics/wi-fi/kitchen and bathrooms all worked perfectly. I definitely can recommend staying here. Great location as well.

Spring break trip

beautiful spacious home on private beach! Older home but with all the amenities you need: gas grill, hot tub, 3 bathrooms, large kitchen, kayak & body boards, sand toys & chairs, etc. Thank you for renting your home to us!

On the Beach!

This unique home sits right on the beach! We enjoyed being so close. The home is an older home that has been remodeled. We cooked every evening and the kitchen was great. We had one issue with the air conditioner in the bunk room, but the owner was very responsive and sent someone to repair the problem. Our family had a great time!

Nice location, quiet, air conditioning working well

Hard to reach out to the property manager. I couldn’t use hot tub. It’s an aged house and master bathroom on top had no curtain- difficult to use shower booth with open window. One, two bunk bedroom had no air con attached- hot and not air flow if the door closed. Overall beautiful house, many rooms, and close to beach

Terrible stay!!!

This property is messy, rodent infestation, cleaneness a major yuk and I can go on with this “Luxury Waterfront “ rental as a joke! Do not for any reason, rent this property, you will be so disappointed!!!!!!!!

Some of the major issues we experienced included:A strong mildew/musty odor throughout the house.Rat traps placed throughout the home.Multiple bottles of disinfectant spray and odor-eliminating products in nearly every room, which made it seem like the owners were aware of ongoing odor issues.Multiple roaches during our stay.Sliding glass doors would not lock. Instead of functioning locks, PVC pipes were provided to place behind each door for security, which did not make us feel safe.The shower/tub combinations had soft bottoms that flexed and caved in when you stepped into them, making it feel like they could give way.A large unfinished plywood patch on the ceiling from what appeared to be a previous repair.Worn weatherstripping and visible gaps around one of the exterior doors.The shag rug in the living room was filthy and looked impossible to clean properly.The outdoor walkway was noticeably slanted, creating a potential safety concern.The hot tub steps were being held up with 2x4s instead of being properly supported. No outside furniture it enjoy the view. Bottom porch had one high back plastic chair and several banquet chairs. Upstairs by the hot tub only had one lounger and a table with bench. All very in comfortable. Only bath towels, no hand or wash towels. Ice machine did not work. Many closets locked.Great location being right on the beach was the best part of the trip. Having two dishwashers was also convenient for our large group. Plenty of bedrooms.

Booked this house for my 60th birthday. I loved the location and the appearance of the property on the ad! There are dozens of cheaper places to stay in the same area, but I wanted an "unobstructed and direct view of the water." That is the ONLY thing this place had.Lets start with check in. We live in Dallas, began our drive to Galveston at 12n to get there by 4pm. We were 200 miles into our drive when we realized that we had not recieved ANY check in texts, emails, nothing! We called and while we got an answer, we were not happy with what we were told. We were told the upstairs barthroom had been "damaged" by the guest before us and it would be locked up and unavailable. We asked if they would send maintenance to fix it and they said they would try, never happened. The house is cool, but he upstairs bathroom was indeed locked and it smelled like absolute hell! Imagine foul feces smell covered with Fabuloso! It was nauseating! It lasted the entire weekend! As it was, we had to go downstairs in the middle of the night to pee! My wife just had knee surgery, NOT ideal!We were told the hot tub was up and ready for us, it was not. The railing outside is a lawsuit waiting to happen. There were NO lounge chairs at all, anywhere. except one broken one.We rented the ENTIRE house, not the house minus the one bathroom that mattered. We requested a refund and they sent us less than 10% of the entire rental, I request one nights stay refund 3 weeks ago, they have yet to respond.

Majestic Ocean View

If location is what matters most to you, this property can’t be topped! It’s an elderly majestic modern home showing its age at every turn and listed on Zillow for sale. While making sandwiches and relaxing in the family room, a group of 6 or 7 adults showed up peering in our windows and walking around the decks. We asked them to kindly leave and they chanted, “It’s listed on Zillow ! It’s listed on Zillow!” We took it lightly, but it was annoying. Sagging draperies, moldy carpet, no towels in the master bath; no open closet (all locked) to hang clothing in the Master, many many “little things.” However, location is fantastic!

Not worth the money !

Way too much money for the issues we had!!! Downstairs on the porch were notices to stop work orders posted so to start we had to call and make sure we were even allowed to be there. Understandable there had been a storm & work was being done but should have cleaned up all the nails all over the porch with kids coming! Trash was piled up all over the porch and the big trash cans were full too! Description says there was a grill but there was only a broken grill in pieces so we couldn’t even grill the steaks we had brought. The microwave was broken until they finally sent us a new one the last day we were there so all the quick food we brought for the kids went to waste The plumbing backed up into the showers on the first day July 3 & although they sent a plumber out on the 4th of July we still had to stay in a house that had poop filled showers & still wasn’t fixed until July 5th. So 12 people with 1 bathroom wasn’t the plan. the hot tub didn’t work. I did buy a broom and left it for the next guest because how can you not sweep for 5 days with a big house full of kids. There is no air flow in one of the bunk bed rooms so don’t even count that in your places to sleep. If all you want is a place to sleep close to the beach this is a great location but they need to update their pictures and description online for sure ! Also get up very early to have your space on the beach because people come and set up right in front of the house bright and early !

Celebration for a 60th Birthday

Everyone loved the house. Views were beautiful especially at sunrise and sunset. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of room for 14 people. The children loved being right on the beach. We are all hoping to be able to go again.

Amazing location

House was great and accurately described in the listing. An initial problem with lock code, but host was available on the phone and solved the problem. Great layout for big family. Kitchen great layout. A few more microwave safe serving dishes would be helpful, but overall well stocked kitchen.

Beautiful Beach House

Enjoyed spending Thanksgiving at this beautiful place with my husband and son. We had a great time - the home is very spacious and gorgeous. The hot tub was very enjoyable especially having the ocean just steps away from us! This place is one of our favorite locations. We loved it so much that we look forward to enjoying a future Holiday with my family. Also, Leah is excellent! Thank you!

Property was misleading

Listing was misleading. So many places had paint missing, small chunks out of wall. Screws exposed on closet doors, ripe for a two years head! Railing on deck totally unsafe for young children, 1/2” pvc plastic pipes! List is LONG, photos taken. When the storm started the rain came through the light fixture in one bedroom and a door in the dining room! We left with pots and bowls catching water surrounded with towels. Hot tub was dirty but when we saw the lack of support we decided it was better to just stay away! One 66 feel to the ground when one of the plastic chairs broke, just sitting!!!! Such a beautiful location in a home that just has not been taken care of.

Overdue honeymoon

My wife and I stayed here, loved it. Very clean, directly on the beach. You can step off the lower deck onto the sand! Loved the hot tub, very romantic. Everything you need is in the house, dollar general and small store across the street from neighborhood just in case. 10 minutes from pleasure pier and all the action, but quiet beach at the house! Love it!!!

Great stay at a great location

This a unique looking property that really stands out from the cookie cutter beach houses in Galveston. As other reviewers mentioned the property has some wear and tear, but otherwise its a great location. A lot of beach items are provided like floats and chairs. The rooms are all well appointed. We had a great time here.

Beachfront home vacation!

Best location in all Galveston. Beautiful beachfront home allowed our children to conveniently run to the ocean to play and run back to the house for snacks. The hot tub was a huge success with the family. We were not use to the charcoal grill so had a learning curve and our food was delicious. We loved our stay and never wanted to drive into Galveston for anything. We want to return someday

Family vacation

Location was amazing! Property itself needs some repairs and updates. Kitchen was well stocked. Air conditioning in a couple of the bedrooms was struggling to cool and fans were a must. Views from every room were amazing.

Great stay

So the house is showing lots of wear both inside and outside but its an older house and the salt, wind and renters do tear things up quicker. That being said the location and house layout is great. The selling point for me is the deck under the house, even in the heat of the day there is shade there for the kids to play in the sand! And as the day progresses it gets even better!! Its probably the closest house to the beach that we have ever stayed in. The hot tub was a nice addition too! At night you can enjoy it and overlook the waves.
