Property was and had not been deep cleaned in months. Property manager offered to do a touch up after we had already brought all of our stuff and had brought all our Christmas presents, I really did not want to wait around for someone to come do something that was supposed to already be done. I had already started cleaning areas we would be using. A “touch up” would not have been nearly enough. The floor had not been mopped in a long time, cabinets were filthy, window AC unit were covered in dirt and mold. The sliding glass doors on the front deck and back deck had not been cleaned in a long time, simple glass spray would have done the trick. Blinds in majority of the windows were broken. The entire house smelled terrible, musty and mildewy from not running AC. The floor had cracks and pieces missing everywhere, cabinet and drawers were broken in different areas of the house. Kids found some sort of beetles in their beds. The best part was missing planks of wood on the dock, seems like a major liability to those renting this property. The entire house is in need of a remodel or at least some minor repairs. The only thing worthwhile would be the pool, but it wasn’t heated so we weren’t able to use it. So all in all the off season pricing should definitely be a lot lower. The house needs a lot of work.

This was my 2nd stay at the property and I was prepared this time and had a extension cord for the outside TV. Only to find out that the screen is broke. One of the TVs didn't work in the downstairs rooms either. The light in the pool only worked in the day time. Although none of these were deal-breakers for us because we love the house it was plenty of space perfect area to teach the kids how to fish and crab we enjoyed ourselves, this was for our Thanksgiving vacation.

Plenty of parking, there's a great amount of beds, privacy was perfect. There is plenty of areas to just chill. Few things to bring: can opener if you're cooking anything in can, an extension cord long-the TV downstairs outside at the picnic table was not plugged in nor near a plug. Be careful on the deck while fishing there are like 2 boards on the low side that I almost fell in because they go all the way down in the water. If you use k-pods bring your Keurig. OH and quite a few outlets upstairs are not working, so find the ones that do and use those. Host was very helpful and everything was good , I'll be staying again in November so I'm prepped on what to bring.

Our stay at the Canal House was perfect for our family of 10. The home was spacious and welcoming, easily accommodating both our family and our pets’ outdoor needs. The pool was amazing—clean, refreshing, and a favorite gathering spot.We loved the two covered porches—one in the front and one in the back—and the deck had plenty of seating for everyone to relax and enjoy the breeze.Communication with management was excellent. They responded promptly to all inquiries before and during our stay, which gave us peace of mind. I particularly appreciated their thoughtful response to my concerns about past reviews mentioning refrigerator issues. We brought extra coolers just in case, but there were zero problems. In fact, the additional small fridge was a great bonus—we used it for drinks.One important note for future guests: during our stay, a double high tide—combined with a strong north wind—caused the water to rise 8 to 10 inches over the lower deck. Thankfully, we had only left chairs and a few fishing rods out, none of which were swept away. It didn’t rain, so this was purely a tidal event. It would be helpful for guests to be made aware of the potential for rising water in the Jamaica Beach area, especially during certain weather conditions.The Canal House exceeded our expectations in every way. We will definitely return.

I wanted to take a moment to share our experience during our recent stay at your property. Overall, we enjoyed our time, especially the pool and the fishing on property.However, there were a few areas that we felt could use some improvement. We noticed that the cleanliness of the place did not meet our expectations upon arrival. Additionally, the refrigerator was not functioning properly, which resulted in us having to throw away some spoiled fruit. We believe it would be beneficial to have it replaced.Lastly, we encountered some raccoons that seemed to have taken up residence in the garage. They would venture upstairs looking for food during the night, which was quite concerning.We appreciate your attention to these matters and hope that our feedback is helpful for future guests. Thank you for your hospitality!

DO NOT RENT THIS HOUSE!!!The fridge did not work when we arrived didn’t know and spoiled our food. It didn’t work for our trip so we had to eat out and coat a lot more money. Beach box refused to give us any money back it cost us over 400. I told them I was going to share my feedback they did nothing to help me. The house is very shaky the decks are warped and falling in the water.

We had a good time but the home needs work. We had a lot of fun at this home on Jamaica Beach. We enjoyed the pool a lot, which is the main reason we chose this home. However the home was very dirty and in disrepair (many lights didn’t work, loose rotted boards on the deck were a hazard, dart board was unusable, and the bathrooms were not in good condition). Besides the pool, the amenities were not good. The positive things are that the house can sleep a lot of people and since it’s on the canal and has a boat slip, it works well for bringing a boat to take quick trips out to the bay. Overall we enjoyed our time there but next time we would probably choose a different house.

This property definitely needs some love. The deck upstairs is super loose and wobbles as you walk. Many of the boards on the stair railing is loose and comes off. The wash machine is full of mold and smells terrible. The location of the home is perfect with proximity to the water and the beach.

The worst absolute worst rental ever.

Check in was 6/28-7/5/2025 this is the worst rental I have ever stayed at. I will continue to post this review on Beach Box, Yelp, and anywhere else I can warn people of this listing and those renting this property. The stairs going into property are not up to code the 2 year old grabbed a rail and it was lose and she almost fell. The dock is very unsafe. Refrigerator seal is busted we lost food and had to ice down everything and buy ice chest. The furniture was broke. House was not cleaned well at all. AC froze up and never got any cooler than 75 in house reaching 80 at peak of day. Being a holiday weekend we were at the mercy of Beach box and vbro. Do not rent this house! I repeat pass on this house unsafe stay. Very moldy vents are nasty. Dirty dishes in cabinets. Showers had no water pressure in all three showers. Upstairs Jack and Jill bathroom will not drain. No hot water in kitchen sink. Cabinets are old and drawers won’t open well. Mattresses are on the floor. Lock box is rusty and doesn’t open well or not at all. They know the AC is crap because almost all bedrooms have window units and the fans they supply are covered in dust and cleaner didn’t even clean them off. The gate has a busted wheel and you have to struggle to open and close the gate. I can go on and on. I post this to make sure no other families go through this heart break. The photographer needs a raise because we got scammed.

Perfect property for our beach/fishing getaway! We loved fishing on the canal, and the short drive to Jamaica beach was perfect! The house had great ourdoor space for hanging out, and nice cool AC after a hot day at the beach!

Overall Great Stay

The house was great for our readers retreat, With many beds to accommodate everyone in our group to have their own bed. It was a group of 10 and not all beds were used. One room on the lower level was hot, it had an AC window unit. It did not bother us because no one slept in there but I went in there several times and it was hot in there each time. Two rooms were on the lower level separate fromThe house with its own entrance. That was sort of a downer for us because we wanted to be together, but it was OK. I must’ve missed that part in the description of the house, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker besides that the house is perfect for any questions and concerns I had I got a quick response from host. I would love to stay here again in the summer if they fix the AC unit in that hot room because I loved the amount of vets it has. I would recommend for big families and groups.

Wonderful Family Weekend Getaway

We had an amazing weekend at this rental! The property manager was extremely communicative and responsive after booking, prior to check-in, during our stay, and after check-out. The home was absolutely beautiful and spaciously accommodated our big family! I loved that we were able to have everyone under one roof. The kids enjoyed the amenities. The multiple decks and swimming pool were a huge bonus! Plenty for the family to do. The neighborhood was nice, clean and safe! Perfect location for families. We loved our stay at this home and definitely plan to return!

Pre-cruise

I had a large group of 10 staying the night prior to a cruise out of Galveston the following morning. The house was PERFECT!! It was clean, comfortable, and so cute! We just wish the rainy, cold weather weren’t a factor as we would have loved to spend time out by the pool or the beautiful decks. The house was wonderful and our host was very quick to answer my questions. A wonderful experience!!

Family Time

The accommodations were great! There was plenty of room for everyone. There was plenty of things to do at the house, swimming in the pool and fishing from the pier.

There were certain details of the property that we didn’t like (fridge not working properly, mold in the building and in the washer, some furniture being damaged), but we overlooked those details and made it work. We still very much enjoyed our stay and given the opportunity we probably would stay there again.

Great house but dirty

Overall house and location were good but floors were extremely dirty, multiple cigarette butts on inside patio and outside deck and a used band aid stuck on the pool. Not sure this house was cleaned after the previous use.
