Our stay at this stunning Victorian home in Galveston’s historic Strand District was nothing short of perfect! Built in 1895 and beautifully restored, the house has an enchanting Hemingway-inspired decor that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another era. The original stained glass windows are simply breathtaking, and there is authentic charm in every room.
Four of us planned a weekend in Galveston. We are women over 55 who love to go to the beach, shop and spend time together. The three spacious bedrooms were cozy and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We felt right at home cooking fresh fish from Katie’s Seafood Market in the well-equipped kitchen, which had everything we needed. Mornings were made extra special as we enjoyed coffee on the large front porch, soaking in Galveston. Evenings were so much fun, spent chatting and laughing in the comfortable upstairs den.
The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to both the Seawall and the vibrant Strand, so we were never far from fun. Whether you’re planning a girls’ weekend, a family getaway, or even a business trip, this home fits the bill. There’s even a small desk upstairs for work, and the basement is a fun bonus with a foosball table and bikes to borrow.
While the house is a dream, be aware that the stairs could be a challenge for older guests or families with very young children. But for us, this place was absolute perfection! We can’t wait to come back!
