The cabin was just perfect and well cleaned. 2 full bathrooms and kings sized bedroom made us wish we had invited another couple to join us. We really enjoyed the indoor, upstairs, oversized Jacuzzi tub (much bigger than a tub). Great porch/balcony off the living room. We ate and played games out there.
FYI There are no kitchen amenities. You will need to buy everything (i.e. slat, pepper, cooking spray, coffee, creamer, sugar, etc.). We spent a heap at the grocery store which had empty shelves due to supply chain issues. Budget accordingly.
Entrance has 3 flights of stairs. Grocery and luggage were a pain. But after that, we got used to them. Maybe not for someone who has difficulty with stairs.
Surrounding area (many, many trees) was so beautiful. We couldn't really see any neighbors. One neighbor came over to warn us about a group of bears in our driveway. But we never saw them. We saw several black bears on our street (from the in the car). Not an issue, kinda exciting, but do be careful.
The streets are really, really steep and narrow. DO insist on a 4WD or AWD. It's a must! The driveway is also really steep. We were given a Chevy Silverado by the rental company which was fairly difficult to turn around in the driveway. But we were extremely thankful to have a 4WD. Also, if you can't see over the hood to see the extremely steep street "lean forward". We looked ridiculous but continuously leaned forward to see the road every time we drove too and from the cabin.
If you like short hikes and don't mind a 30 minute driver, we recommend Spruce Flat Falls (not too crowded and beautiful). Enjoy.
