The most perfect cabin! Nestled away from it all but only 15 min to downtown. Very spacious and immaculate inside. The views are spectacular. It’s quiet and peaceful and I never wanted to leave. The video game console and game room was so much fun, my 15 year old never wanted to leave. The hot tub was clean and hot upon arrival no need to heat it! The kitchen was stacked with anything you needed the hosts Mark and Cindy have thought of everything! Every time I messaged the hosts I got a response within minutes. And on our last evening there, a family of 4 bears hung out in the backyard it was magical. I’m sure there’s tons of cabin rentals that are amazing but I’ll never see any of them because I’ll be back at “A Bear Above” every time! Thank you! Tom and Michelle and family kids 15,11,10

Pros: Responsive owners; old but very clean, beautifully decorated home; spacious living room with ample seating; gorgeous views; close to the center; well-equipped kitchen.Cons: Only one small roll of thin cheap paper towels was provided for a group of 7 adults plus children; the mattresses were very uncomfortable; no towels were provided for the hot tub, and we had to use bath towels to wipe up bleach-treated water; floors/beds creak through the house

We Loved the cabin! It had everything you could ever need and was so clean. Communication with host was excellent. It is way up the mountain, which we loved. The garage was tight- but we were able to get our Tundra in. The view was pretty and it was decorated for Christmas

Everything was absolutely perfect, besides the weather which obviously can’t be controlled. The host and cabin were great! I would highly recommend this cabin for a wonderful stay in the mountains. Be prepared to drive curvy, narrow roads to get to and from the cabin but once you do, you will be glad you did! We hated to leave!

The place was even better than the photos! It was cozy, and the kids had a great time. We had such a happy and relaxing stay. The host was incredibly kind and thoughtful, paying attention to every detail. Communication was great, and they really took good care of us. We would definitely love to come back again

The chalet was beautiful and the mountain views were magnificent. The hosts kept us informed on the snow alert, and even offered to let us stay for free if we were snowed in. That was impressive and demonstrated their concern for the safety of their guests.

We had an amazing stay! The cabin was stunning and very clean. All amenities were spot on! Very close to all attractions and convenient to restaurants. The views are breathtaking! We even had bear visitors. Will definitely be returning. Communication with owners was top notch! Highly recommend.

My friends and I had a great stay at this cabin! There was ample sleeping space, and we appreciated being able to park in the 2-car garage. It was a short 10-minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg, and the views from the deck were beautiful!

The ‘A Bear Above’ chateau was beautiful! Very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the view of Mt. Leconte from the deck and loved seeing black bears near the property. We also enjoyed the game room in the lower level. If you want to be up in the mountains that is the place to stay!

Beautiful Cabin with Mountain view

My family and I had a wonderful time. The view from the cabin was breathtaking. Several levels of outside decks gave us a view of the mountains. The decks were nice to view the bears too. We saw bears daily throughout the neighborhood as we drove to and from town. The cabin itself was beautiful, very clean and cozy. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we could possibly need for our stay. Property owners were readily available to answer any questions.

Amazing getaway

The property was fantastic. Six members of our family rented this cabin for a long weekend getaway. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and updated. We took a blow up mattress with the intention of sleeping 2 people. We tried the sleeper sofa in the gaming room, and were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was. We used that instead. The cabin was very well stocked. Can’t think of anything we wish we would have had. We brought a crock pot which we could have left at home as there was one at the cabin. One of the best supplied cabins we have rented. The deck was an amazing place to hang out in the evening. The view from the deck is great but the trees are beginning to block the view a bit. The laundry facilities and garage were very nice and convenient . We saw bears around the property everyday so be advised to keep the front gate secure. The bears were not aggressive toward us but we stayed inside when they were around. It was a beautiful property that we highly recommend. It will not disappoint!

Absolutely Wonderful

This property is the best property I have ever booked. It is so clean, the views are amazing, and it was large enough to hold my bigger family very comfortably. There was something for every person in the family: game room, hot tub, pools nearby, and of course the bears. We had more fun just hanging out at the cabin than we did exploring the town!

Beautiful cabin with beautiful views

We did not want to leave this cabin! The views from both inside and outside are fantastic. You can see the mountains and the city lights down below. The cabin is very comfortable with a lot of seating. The game room was nice for some family fun. It was great to soak in the hot tub after a day of hiking. We loved being able to park in the garage. We would love to rent this cabin again for a future vacation.

Family Getaway in the Mountains

My wife and I decided to bring our two youngest children and her parents, visiting from Italy, to experience a relaxing break in the mountains. We're so glad we chose this home for our getaway. The home was spotless, extremely comfortable, and perfectly conducive for wonderful family time. The views are breathtaking. We're already planning our return trip! The hosts were extremely responsive and accommodating.

Gorgeous views, spacious cabin, and multiple bear sightings!

I didn’t realize while booking, but this cabin is UP in the mountains. The roads are not for the faint of heart, but the view is 100% worth it. We saw two bears on our drive in, and two more while we were unloading. The cabin had all the amenities we could need, the hosts were extremely responsive and helpful, and we had an amazing time! The Christmas tree was still up, which was perfect as we were still celebrating the holiday. We probably won’t be back to the Smokies for a couple years, but we’ll be staying at A Bear Above again!
