We had a wonderful weekend here and can’t recommend it enough. Beautiful property lovingly restored. The owners were perfect hosts and the hotel and gardens are a calming oasis in the middle of town. We will try to visit Ghent again in a quieter time and will definitely head for the B&B The Verhaegen.

A Very Special Place. Would definitely stay again

One of the best places I have ever stayed in anywhere. The attention to detail was unbelievable, the decoration of the whole mansion was incredible, it could easily be a museum. We stayed in the suite. The room was very spacious, clean and very very comfortable. It was walking distance from all the main sites. Would definitely stay again.

비싸지만 최고로 예쁜 B&B!

숙박 룸에서 주는 고풍스러움과 부티크 바이브는 매우 만족스럽습니다. 다만, 비싼 가격의 숙박비에도 불구하고 마이크로하게 과금을 유도하는 서비스 구조가 맘에 들진 않았습니다. 조식 인당 25유로인데 치즈 추가하면 4유로, 햄 4~6유로를 더 추가로 지불해야 합니다.(?) 심지어 룸에서 마시는 커피 마저도 한잔 당 2.5유로를 지불해야 하죠. 차라리 숙박 요금에 10유로를 더 추가 지불하고 양껏 마시게 하는게 더 마음 편할 것 같다는 생각이 듦. 그 외 모든면에서는 만족스러웠습니다.

We had a wonderful Ghent escape in this extraordinary accommodation. Our hosts, Marc and Jan, were welcoming and knowledgable, every aspect was beautiful and considered. We look forward to returning to this stunning and romantic B and B.

Magnifique

Nous avons passé une excellente nuit dans une magnifique demeure. Il se dégage un parfum de passion immodérée pour la déco dans chaque pièce. Nous avons eu droit à un petit déjeuner servit dans de la vaisselle digne d'un roi agrémenté de produits succulents et très frais.Ne craignez pas les poussières en voyant tous ces tissus, moquettes et tentures, le ménage est parfaitement fait, je n'ai aucunement souffert de mes allergies aux acariens. Vous pourrez faire une petite caresse à Kandinsky, le sympathique labrador chocolat qui vous accueillera affectueusement. Les hôtes sont très professionnels et vous donnerons de bons conseils pour parfaire votre séjour. Notre véhicule est resté à l'hôtel dans un parking fermé et nous avons loué des vélos pour visiter la ville...superbe

A bit of luxury in Ghent

The hotel Verhaegen is so close to the centre of Ghent which makes its perfect for sightseeing during the day and popping back before going out again in the evening. The hotel is an eclectic mix of very old and very new. It is superbly comfortable and very quiet at night. We didn’t pay extra for the breakfast which was €20 per person per night but we did use the parking which was also €20 per night. I thought that was quite expensive as we were staying there anyway but our car was secure and close by. Our room has a fantastic bathroom attached to it and assisted in the whole relaxation at the end of the day. We stayed here as a bit of a treat at the of a week traveling around Belgium and Germany and weren’t disappointed.

The hotel which is also a home to the owners was breath taking. The photos on the website do not do the hotel justice. The owners treat you like family and the location is perfect to enjoy the city treasures of Ghent. We look forward to returning to this hotel in the future.

Excellent and opulent

The place was really nice. The decor was excellent and very fancy. The gardens were also very nice. It felt like you were staying in a castle. The breakfast was also excellent, I travel a lot and this was the best breakfast I have had before and the best fruit salad I have had at a hotel. The hosts were very helpful and friendly too. It is a perfect place for a romantic stay.

Too noise, room window adjacent to busy street

They rush you out of the room at 11:30 even with an empty day. They charge you for your breadht if they can. They follow your steps never leaving you alone. Real bad experience in such a beautiful premisses

Beautiful historic home in the heart of Ghent

This a wonderful house to stay in Ghent. The owners couldn't have been nicer and their home which they restored themselves is a wonderfully updated 18th century villa near the old center of Ghent. We got a suite which had two large rooms with a master bed in and fold out couch in the other. It was a special place to stay with tons of character. Great those looking for something high end but different from an ordinary hotel.

Un petit château dans la ville !

Quand vous prenez le petit déjeuner dans cette somptueuse salle manger, admirant le jardin à la française clos par un pavillon lui aussi XVIII siècle, vous êtes hors du temps, il ne vous manque que la perruque pour croire que vous êtes un noble personnage.

Tja, wat kan je ervan vinden; er is veel gedaan om een huiselijke sfeer te creëren met originele elementen. Echt bijzonder te noemen. Je voelt je gauw thuis, het personeel is zeer attent en vriendelijk. Ikzelf ben zeer onder de indruk geraakt van het binnentuin en architectuur. Wil je iets bijzonders ervaren? Dan moet je hier een aantal dagen (b.v. weekend) verblijven. Wat mij betreft een aanrader!

Beautiful, attentive B & B, old world charm

Peter is a delightful host, extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful, and we were not at all put off like some of the other reviewers who commented negatively on the interior decorating business. This added charm to the experience and didn't detract in any way! The area feels totally safe but the location is for people who are comfortable in an urban setting with graffiti nearby the surrounding streets which are not perfectly polished. Along with the charm, and impeccable design and comfort, some of the rooms do not have a traditional shower. Our bathroom was gorgeous but the hand held shower for hair washing took a little getting adjusted to. Great experience. Would cheerfully return.

Amazing find in my home town

Living abroad, we usually travel back to Ghent a few times per year. Hotel Verhaegen was an amazing find for our new home away from home. The 'house' is truly unique in the historical sense, interior design sense combined with a homely environment. The staff are very welcoming and clearly have a very high standard of service. We will certainly go again, next we go home! Anniek

Terug in de tijd?

Heerlijk hotel met fantastische gastheren. Als je eens terug wilt naar een klassieke omgeving maar niet terug wilt in luxe moet je hier zijn. Eigenaren Jan en Marc zijn twee interior designers die een heerlijke plek hebben geschapen op vijf minuten lopen van het historische centrum van Gent. Het gehele gebouw ademt (liefde voor) historie, luxe en schoonheid. En als je jezelf dan toch verwent, neem dan ook het ontbijt erbij.

Vraiment superbe. Cette hôtel est dans une jolie maison du 18ème siècle magnifiquement restauré...avec des propriétaires charmants. Très fortement recommandé!
