At The Gentle Villa Retreat we aim to please we are opened year round and our staff is here to help you enjoy your time away from home. Our goal is to make your vacation with us a life time experience by simply reconnecting with your mind, body and spirit to renew you. Just by simply calling our information line during your stay we will do our very best to fulfil your request. At this location you will enjoy our Contemporary/Spaniard style home with all it’s amenities. This home is fully equipped to serve you. The Home is approximately 4,424 square feet 2 1/2 stories in height that consist of 1 unit.
It sits on 1 acre and is surrounded by the beautiful nature and sounds of country life. The home is equipped with Central air conditioning and heating and it has a elegant electric fireplace in the lower living quarters to keep the air warm and toasty during the cooler months. Gentle Villa has 8 bedrooms that are designed to accommodate 4 people per room in its cozy twin bed settings. The Villa has a Full Kitchen equipped with all the amenities necessary to help you prepare your meals and even your clean ups, it has a electric dishwasher, Microwave, electric stovetop and oven, pots & pans and even plates, cups, saucers, glassware and silverware to meet your needs.

Gentle Villa is a place where you can reconnect with nature and spirit. It is surrounded by tall Texas Pines, Pin Oaks and the sounds of country life. The Villa is perfect for small groups in numbers of 28 or less for overnight stays. If you love fishing, hunting, thrift shops or just time alone this is the place for you. The home is fully furnished with a Contemporary/Spaniard Country feel. At the Villa life is made simple our motto is "The place where all worries are left behind".
Have you ever watched movies from the 60's and early 70's where there was soda pop fountains, Ice Cream parlors at the old merchant store? Well, snuggled in the piney woods of Goodrich is a merchant store called " Gokey's Old Town Store approximately 5 minutes from the Villa that is only opened on weekends. It is filled with your favorite Ice Cream, homemade taffy and soda pop along with all kinds of interesting items including antiques that date back as far back as the late 1800's. In Gokey's you are guaranteed to find something you'll like!
Gentle Villa is located in the heart of country living. You will capture a glimpse of life made simple. Come and experience night life in the country where the stars shine bright and sounds of crickets and frogs still exist. Gentle Villa location is about 7 miles from Lake Livingston Dam and State Park. We are approximately 1hr. 4 minutes from Downtown Houston, Texas and 52 miles from the historical city of Lufkin Texas. Did you know that In the early teens, Lufkin's water source was a standpipe in Cotton Square.

The standpipe was drained in 1913 in the hope of finding the body of one Frank Parsons who disappeared after a violent explosion that destroyed a good portion of the railroad station. The blast must've been stronger than they thought. Frank's body turned up in California three years later, with Frank in it. Lufkin is filled with many interesting historical places such as Cavanaugh House built between 1900-1929, Angelina River Bridge built 1925-1949, Behannon--Kenley House built between 1924-1949, Casper House built 1900-1924 and Banks--Ogg House 1900-1924, While at Gentle Villa schedule yourself some time to visit these historical places.

Gentle Villa is also known as a Writer’s Paradise because of it's unique design and quietness to help you capture every thought and imagination. Gentle Villa has 8 bedrooms that are authentically design according to its own characteristics. Each room is named from a biblical prospective and fine tune for perfection to suit every need spiritual and natural. The home is equipped with 3 full bathrooms that completely stocked for all your necessities and decorated in a contemporary style, it also has 2 Living quarters both furnished with a 60' color televisions and fully furnished with Contemporary furnishings and wall deco. The upper living quarter has a DVD player and surround sound component that emerges directly across form it open Game room area that is available for lots of fun filled activities, Washroom equipped with washer and dryer free to use for your convenience during your stay, Full Kitchen and lots of outdoor relaxation space.

Gentle Villa amenities consist of 8 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 Living quarters, Washroom, 2 Office Spaces, Dining Area that is decorated for formal dinning, Conference Room with table and chairs the sits 24 or more, Outdoor Patio Area nestled under black walnut, Chinese plum and Texas Ruby Red Grapefruit Trees, game room with Pool and Air hockey table, Outdoor picnic tables, 2 Hammocks nestled between the Tall Texas Pines and our outdoor Jacuzzi to bring relaxation to your evenings.

Gentle Villa also is equipped with lots of board and card games available such as Checkers, Clue, Jenga, Uno and many more. Basket Ball and Volleyball Equipment is also available. We are located approximately 7 miles from Lake Livingston Dam and State Park. The Lake Livingston State Park contains 635.5 acres along Lake Livingston a 84,800-acre reservoir. It's located near the ghost town of Swartwout, a steamboat landing on the Trinity River in the 1830s and 1850s and the meeting place of Polk County's first commissioners court before voters selected Livingston as county seat.

Native emergent plants are limited to the upper areas of the reservoir and in the backs of coves and embayment. The floating exotic water hyacinth is found throughout the reservoir. Lake Livingston is a notable white bass fishery. White bass are plentiful and grow to large sizes. The catfish fishery is dominated by blue catfish. Largemouth bass, striped bass, and crappie are less abundant but good catches are possible in areas of the reservoir where habitat is available.

Before leaving:

1. Bring all used towels down to washroom before leaving.
2. Bring all trash to lower floor, trash is to placed in outdoor blue trash container before leaving.
3. Please leave all beds that are used with covers pulled back this helps us identify which beds need laundered.
4. Please make sure all items are placed in there original location before leaving.
