A fully renovated traditional Japanese house available for whole-house rental | Opened in 2023 · Accommodates up to 8 guests
"Komorugoshogawara" is a whole-house rental property that opened in 2023 after renovating a traditional Japanese house.
Located in the quiet, snow-covered region of Tsugaru, guests can enjoy exclusive use of the approximately 200 m² property, which accommodates up to 8 people.
While preserving the structure of the traditional Japanese house, we have carefully curated every detail—from the way light enters to the materials, furniture, and connection to the garden. Inside, traces of traditional Japanese living remain, such as wooden beams, a tokonoma, a tsuchima, and a tsuboniwa.
Another distinctive feature of this inn is that each guest room has a unique layout, natural light, and view of the garden. Whether you’re reading, enjoying a leisurely conversation, or simply taking time to do nothing—all while admiring the architecture and interior design— Please enjoy a stay that takes you a little away from everyday life, in whatever way suits you best.
At Komoru Goshogawara, we value not just packing your schedule with sightseeing, but also taking time in a quiet environment to reflect on yourself and connect with those you’ve come with.
■ About Renting the Entire Property
The property has a total of 5 guest rooms and can accommodate up to 8 guests.
It’s ideal not only for trips with family and friends but also for small group trips and those seeking a peaceful environment.
Since the entire property is rented out, your group has exclusive use of the approximately 200 ㎡ interior and garden.
■Guest Rooms
There are 5 guest rooms in total, each with a unique layout and features.
[Room 101] This guest room features a tatami area and a small courtyard. The guest room measures 13 ㎡, and the courtyard is 22 ㎡. You can enjoy a peaceful stay while gazing out at the spacious courtyard, which is furnished with chairs.
【Room 102】 This 14-square-meter guest room features high windows and a double-height ceiling. Soft natural light streams in through the high windows.
【 Room 103 】 This guest room features a double-height ceiling with high windows, a dirt-floored area, and a tsubo garden. The guest room measures 14 ㎡, and the tsubo garden is 15 ㎡. It is characterized by the wooden beams running through the double-height space and the narrow, elongated tsubo garden extending from the earthen floor.
【Room 104】 This is the largest guest room in the inn, featuring a tokonoma, a tsuchima, and a tsubo garden. The guest room measures 30 ㎡, and the tsubo garden is 21 ㎡. We have preserved the tokonoma, which dates back over 50 years, creating a space where guests can experience the traditional architecture of a Japanese house.
[Room 201] This 15-square-meter guest room features a raised seating area. It is the only guest room on the second floor and offers a view of the garden from the window.
■Garden and Architecture
From various spots throughout the inn, you can admire the garden, which changes its appearance with the seasons.
From the small courtyard incorporating a dry landscape garden to the natural light streaming in through the atrium, and the exposed wooden beams and tokonoma niches preserved in the building, each guest room offers a unique view.
Rather than simply aiming to give the traditional Japanese house a modern look, we have renovated it to ensure a comfortable stay as a contemporary inn while preserving its original structure and the layers of history it has accumulated over time.
