Self check-in went smoothly, however, I want to make sure the host and future guests are aware of the condition of this VRBO. It wreaked of chemicals when we walked in, but the place wasn’t very clean. There was dust on all surfaces (I’m highly allergic and suffered). The kitchen could use improvements: stocked with essentials (like a wine opener), organized properly, cabinets wiped of coffee stains, fridge cleaned, dishes put away and not left in dishwasher, sink wiped clean (my partner ended up cleaning it because it looked so bad), restock spices (they were expired). The bathroom smelled of urine. We thought it might be the bath rug so we removed it and the smell subsided. The bath towels had a smell to them so we washed them before using. You could see the scum along the bathtub walls. The bed was not comfortable, I now have a kink in my neck. There were supposed to be more pillows and sheets in the closet, but the pillows all looked like couch cushions and I didn’t see any extra sheets? If the host hires a cleaning crew, I’d fire them or, at least, conduct walk-throughs until all issues have been addressed. We almost went to a hotel but everything was taken and we didn’t want to go through the hassle since we were only there for 2 nights. We decided to just suck it up. The place would benefit from a bit of effort.
