forest hideaway

Overall, we had a lovely time. However, there were some maintenance issues the first night. the door to the game room would not open and the members of our party who were staying in that room had to go outside and walk around to the front or back slider doors to access the house (and the bathrooms) during the night. They were not happy about that and reported that they had a difficult first night. However, I contacted the property manager the next morning when I became aware of this and Asha immediately took steps to get the door fixed the following day. Overall, the property is really lovely. Sitting outside in the early mornings sipping my coffee, listening to the birds and the sounds of the breeze through the trees was wonderful! It is a bit of a hike down a large set of stairs to the pool. I had a broken foot and was in a boot during our stay, so getting down to the pool in a boot with crutches was very challenging.

Plenty of room for large parties

I booked this stay for an out of town crew working in the area. I checked in with them to see how the accommodations were and was told they had no complaints. They enjoyed how the quiet surroundings and the ease of checking in and out.

Escape from the city and fireworks

We had a sweet and nourishing stay in this house which was perfect to have Swim/Eat/Sleep/Play on repeat for grown ups and kids alike! The property has really cool gardens that have a variety of herbs and fruit. We got to enjoy some apricots that were ripe by the pool area. Asha was an awesome host who went above and beyond to help us through a hiccup that happened - even through a holiday! Our family is definitely interested in returning for another getaway. Thank you Asha!

Family wedding weekend

We had such a great time at this little hidden gem! Asha was super accommodating with us coming into town a little earlier and allowing us to drop our stuff off so we can grocery shop for the weekend. The kids enjoyed the game room! Fire place kept us cozy and the property is just beautiful! Thank you for sharing your incredible home with us!

Great weekend retreat

We had the opportunity to use this home as a weekend retreat for our youth leadership training weekend. The newly elected officers of Northern California DeMolay used this cabin to plan next year’s programs, events, and visits. The home was well appointed, met all of our needs, and had a beautiful views and landscape. This will definitely be one to look at next year if we choose to come back to the area.

Lovely retreat

It stayed surprisingly cool in the house despite 100+ degree heat and the pool was a delicious respite as well. Plenty of room for friends, family, and dogs in updated comfortable home. Caretaker and owner were around, helpful, and respected privacy too. We’ll be back!

Perfect mountain retreat!

My family and I were in town for a wedding at the most beautiful time of year! We were a group of 4 adults and 2 children (ages 5 and 2). We had an absolute blast at this home and surrounding area. The property is beautiful and well-maintained—my kids enjoyed all the pretty flowers and hunting for lizards! The pool area was a favorite hang-out spot. The kitchen (and home in general) was well-appointed with many entertainment options including puzzles, games, ping pong table, and more. We would come back in a heartbeat! Communication was excellent. Thank you for a beautiful stay!

Beautiful space and friendly host

This property is beautiful and the hosts were amazing. We were in town for a funeral and the host was so welcoming and kind, allowing us to have some family come visit pre and post service. My son also left his favorite stuffed animal and the host ensured it was safe until a family member could retrieve it. 100% would recommend.

Senior Trip

Me and my friends went here to getaway from Rocklin. One of the coolest houses i’ve experienced. Had lots of fun going on hikes/trails, going into town. Overall, this house is perfect for big group events and would definitely rent this house again!

Great Stay!

This is a great house for large groups in a beautiful and quiet location. We had 3 families with kids. Easy access to Yuba River and Nevada City. Pool was great to have on a hot day. Game room for kids kept them entertained and sitting out on the front patio in the mornings for coffee was lovely. We'll be back!

Fun in Gold Country

The property is nestled in the woods and very private. it suited our family of 6 very comfortably. We had a couple of minor issues but the owner was very responsive and remedied the situation. She was very flexible with early /late check in/out very fun weekend

Beautiful Home!

The house and grounds were just beautiful! As lovely as the photos and quiet. The house was very clean and enjoyable. We had a large family group of diverse ages, but we all had a wonderful time from inside the home to the fantastic tea garden, pool and vegetable garden. Host and gardner were very friendly and helpful.

Pros & Cons

I have stayed in over 25 VRBO properties these past 15 years and this property is somewhat difficult to rate as it really depends on your group. It worked perfectly for my visit as was for my son’s family to sleepover as well, which included 3 boys, 13 and under. Pros - Secluded, however the owner was not there during our visit and her apartment is poolside I believe - Heated pool - House is spacious with many sleeping options - Large, well-equipped kitchen - Game room with projection TV and ping pong table - Had deer just outside the front windows - Close to restaurants and shopping (by car) - Owner very nice and responsive Cons - House, furniture, utensils, etc., are dated - No toilet paper in master bath, nor a toilet paper hanger - Kitchen needs cleaned out of all ½ full condiments and other left behind items - No instructions for projector, how to setup, etc. Called owner, she advised look on YouTube for a DIY video - Stairs to pool are steep for children and elderly - BBQ area is in need a complete repair Lastly, and this had no effect on my review, but I left a windbreaker at the property and asked if the owner would mail. She did but charged me $50. Easily it would have fit in a USPS prepaid box for $10.
