Bear Haven | Overlooks a Bass-Stocked Pond | Pool Table & Card Table
At Bear Haven, your days stretch long and laughter comes easy. Trade your notifications for birdsong, your deadlines for starlight, and your worries for woodsmoke. Gather around to play a round of cards and roast s'mores by the fire. This cabin promises pure mountain mischief and well-earned calm in equal measure. -------------------------------------------- Indoor Spaces: - Sleeping arrangements: Sleeps 10. The primary bedroom is on the upper level and features a king bed, private bathroom, and its own TV. A second bedroom with a king bed resides on the lower level. The third and fourth bedrooms are on the main level, one with a queen bed and a TV, and the other with two twin beds. A futon is available in the loft for additional accommodations. - Main level: As you enter the main level, you'll immediately notice the stunning wood walls and pristine tile floors. The great room features plush seating and a gas fireplace tucked into a classic stone hearth. This level is ideal for spending time together thanks to the open floor plan that connects the living, kitchen, and dining areas. - Upper level: The upper-level loft overlooks the great room and is a dedicated bedroom with an open design and additional seating. - Lower level: Ready for some fun? Head downstairs to the den, where you can find another TV, a pool table, and a card table. An electric fireplace keeps you cozy and warm, with a comfortable couch and seating for hanging out. - Bear Haven comes with WiFi, AC, and Smart TVs. - All Stay Blue Ridge vacation rentals include a complimentary starter pack with soaps, one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, a roll of paper towels in the kitchen, dishwasher pods, and trash bags. -------------------------------------------- Outdoor Spaces: - The screened-in, upper-level deck offers protection from the elements (and bugs), complete with comfortable seating and a fire table for chilly nights. - On the lower deck, you can bask in the sun, fire up the grill, and gather around the outdoor dining table for a meal al fresco. - Your cabin overlooks the community pond, which is stocked with bass fish and open to fishing for guests. You can also bring your lunch down to the pond-side picnic tables for a peaceful afternoon by the water. - Up near the parking area is an outdoor seating area with Adirondack chairs and a fire pit, so make sure to pack your marshmallows and graham crackers! -------------------------------------------- Local Surroundings: - You are located just 25 minutes from the lively downtown strip of West Jefferson. With plenty of different shops and boutiques to choose from, like Sisters on Main or the Honey Hole, you can find something to pique everyone's interest. Ashe Co. Cheese Factory is one of the most famous attractions in the county, where you can taste test homemade cheeses and even book a tour to watch how the cheeses are made. When you're ready for a bite to eat, head to Craft Bistro in the Old Artists Theater for fine dining. For more casual fare and local brews, check out New River Brewery or Boondocks Restaurant and Brew Haus. - Bear Haven is roughly 20 minutes away from the rural community of Piney Creek and the highly rated Red Dog Bar & Bistro (which also has a location in downtown WJ!). A little further out, about a 40-minute drive, is the quaint town of Sparta. Here, you'll find all sorts of craft and souvenir shops, such as Sparta Candle Co. and Alleghany Arts & Crafts. - The historic New River is less than 10 minutes from your cabin and perfect for a day of floating and fishing in the sun. Bring your own canoes, kayaks, and tubes, or rent equipment from one of the nearby local outfitters. Riverside Canoe & Tube Rental is just over 15 minutes away and open seasonally from late spring to early fall (official dates can vary depending on weather). - Boone is about an hour away, but is well worth the drive. Home to Appalachian State University, this larger college town has an excellent selection of shops and restaurants to fill an entire day trip. Boone is also close to some of the best Blue Ridge Parkway access points, putting you in close proximity to popular sightseeing spots like the Linn Cove Viaduct and the Rough Ridge hiking trail. If you're here during the fall, taking a day to drive up and down the parkway will give you some of the best views of the High Country's famous fall foliage. - Visiting in the winter? You have to plan a trip up to Appalachian Ski Mountain for a day of fun snowboarding, skiing, snow tubing, and ice skating. -------------------------------------------- Important Notes: - Pet Policy: Dogs welcome! Two dog limit, must be leash and crate trained, two years or older, and 45lbs or less. $50 per pet, nonrefundable. - Access: Once you arrive in the community, gravel roads lead you to the rental. Parking space for four vehicles. We recommend 4WD or AWD for winter guests. - Disclaimers: Bear Haven is best for relaxation. Please, no parties, events, or large gatherings. - Extended Stays: For stays longer than 10 days, additional cleaning fees will apply and will be added to the reservation. -------------------------------------------- Why Stay Blue Ridge?
