I booked this VRBO hoping for a relaxing girls weekend at the Lake, instead, we ended up with a loud, uncomfortable, & miserable experience. The neighborhood the property was in appeared unkept & disheveled. The cabin was swarming with mosquitoes inside & out, making it impossible to enjoy even a moment of peace. Trying to relax on the deck? Forget it. A neighbor using a circular saw & electric sander just feet away. It felt more like we were staying next to a construction site than a lake retreat. Then, a large, 5-mo. old German Shepherd came barreling toward us & jumped on my back while the owner (that same neighbor) stood by & did absolutely nothing. No apology, no leash, no attempt to call the dog back. When we arrived, the inside of the cabin was a sweltering 78 degrees. I immediately lowered the thermostat & turned on every ceiling fan & window unit. Luckily, we brought two extra fans with us. The temperature only dropped to 76 degrees after 4 hours. I contacted Vacasa, the property management company, and they finally sent someone the next day—who was shocked at how hot it was inside & couldn’t believe we slept through it. At 3:15pm on our 2nd day, Vacasa said if we wanted a refund, we’d need to be out by 4pm with no offer to move us to another property. Allotting 45 min. to pack up & leave, & we had nowhere else to go. The coolest it got was still 70 deg. on day 3. Vacasa said they would issue a refund which has yet to happen & have been very difficult to reach.
