I booked this property through VRBO on January 31, paid in full for my arrival on May 31. The primary reasons we selected this home were its location directly across the street from our friends’ beach house and its proximity to the beach with an ocean view.Upon arrival, we discovered the home was occupied by the homeowner and unavailable for our stay. When we contacted the rental company, they indicated it was the homeowner’s error, while the homeowner stated it was the rental company’s responsibility. We were subsequently relocated to a different property that was several houses farther from the beach, lacked an ocean view, and was not authorized by us prior to arrival. All communication was conducted through the VRBO app, and while responses were timely, there was no prior notification that we would be reassigned to a different property. The situation was disappointing, as the location and specific features of the original home were the primary reasons for our booking.
