This is a great place for some families, but not for us. First, props for the creative Harry Potter room—very fun and well done. Other positives—the location feels far away but isn’t a long drive from the Seattle area, the inside was clean, and there were lots of toys, books & videos for younger kids.
But there were disappointments—admittedly, at least one of which was the result of us looking at a lot of listings and not paying as close attention to this one as we should have. But others, too. Our intention is to help future renters find the place that is great for them.
The downsides for us—no grill (the listing doesn’t say that there’s a grill, so it’s not hidden, but we were surprised that a place like this didn’t have one), the seating in the TV area is not comfy (formal arm chairs and a day bed without good back pillows), the outside areas were not well maintained/cleaned up, the kitchen was missing some basic items (like a cutting board…there was a small cheese-platter cutting board, but we couldn’t find an actual cutting board) while there were some neat and unexpected kitchen items (like a cool traditional salsa mortar and pestle (molcajete)), the dock isn’t a swimming dock, and there wasn’t a beach to speak of (just some dirt & weeds by a rock wall leading into the lake).
Overall, this is a lake cabin that seems to be an important place to this family. It’s nice for many that they share it, but it may not be for you.
