The owners were very nice, but this is an older smaller property. Very unique but unless you want your room to be the experience of your visit it isn't great. Not a lot of options in Harbor Beach though, that is something the city should be looking at fixing. We left Harbor Beach three days earlier than intended because the room was tiny and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Drove to Imlay City, paid $2 more a night for a suite that was 3-4 times larger, had two queen beds, a jacuzzi tub and continental breakfast.

I really liked the way I was welcomed. Her husband helped me get the key out of my rental car. My room was clean & I felt safe. In the room, they had papers to differnt restaurants & phone numbers to differant places. If I'm every in Harbor Beach again I will stay there.

friendly place to stay
The hotel is a small personally run hotel. The owner is very friendly. The hotel has some age to it but it has been well maintained.

Pros: There was enough coffee in the room for two people to have at least 3 cups of coffee each!! So many other hotels just don't give you enough coffee to get going in the morning. This hotel is not fancy but was very clean. Cons: We booked a queen bed, but it was only a full size. The walls are very thin. You can hear your neighbors talking. The staff was very friendly but they were outside smoking when we arrived. It just looks unprofessional. Over all not too bad.

Thank you for kind review!! We are pleased to hear your stay was overall ok. wish it could have been better but remember we are a small motel, and smoking is permitted on our property just Not in the rooms, and the ashes and butts are kept picked up and threw away.

Hi Margaret this is the Manager Christina. When things are broken we fix them its just a very clean small motel. We might not be great but we are pretty good id have to say take a look at our reviews we have many good reviews. To us its not about material items. Its about making people happy, giving people a place to stay, meeting new people and making new friends and making unforgettable memories and spending time with family at a little one man owned hotel. We try our best here to make people happy but you cant please everyone. Thanks for giving us a try, we are very sorry you didnt enjoy your stay with us!!

The price was higher than I booked. Owner hard to deal with. They could not understand the problem. I overpaid by $30. Not happy. I will complain with Expedia. Did I say I was not happy? Motel ok but the people running it no so good.

Sorry about your bad experience but our policy states all the extra fees and it also states that there may be more fees when you arrive ar our hotel.

Cleanest and safest property I've stayed on for quite a while. Super friendly staff, very welcoming especially to my dog. It's difficult to find a place to stay when traveling with animals. Not many amenities for the price, but that's my only complaint. And even at that I'll definitely be booking with them again next time thru. Thank you for the hospitality.

We were in town for a funeral the next day. We needed a clean facility and a comfy bed. That is exactly what we got. This is a small old style “motel”, which is what we expected and met our needs well.

Typical ole' roadside Motel f you get what you pay for. It appears that they are working on updating things, the room was clean some stains on floor ,no biggie, the hot water trickled when turned on in bathroom sink, the beds were uncomfortable. There is a dollar general conveniently located in front of motel you can walk to for last minute needs.

The room was clean, beds comfortable, however for some reason the room itself was extremely humid, even with the window a/c on as well as the ceiling fan. The rate to rent this average motel room was extremely high and likely due to the surrounding area, which seems to be more upscale. However, just because you can charge that outrageous amount, doesn't mean you should. Overall happy, with the exception of the rate.

It’s a 1950’s era motel, but our room had been renovated and was very nice. It had everything we needed and was sparkling clean.

Old motel that has been updated. Room was small but clean. It was pricey on Expedia to start with, and we had to add another $20.00 for our dog. Staff was very friendly.

Our stay was good, everything was clean and nice. Early in the evening there was an issue with plumbing and toilets flushing, the staff informed us of issue, and took actions to have it promptly fixed. I was pleased and impressed with their fast actions. We've stayed there many times in the past, I have always been happy with everything.

The rooms are aged and the carpets need to be cleaned. There were damp towels behind our bathroom door and the floor is bad so the toilet was crooked. There is a smell that can’t be identified. Customer service was sub-par. Despite all of that, the worst was the unexpected fees we were charged upon check in. There was an extra $10 fee for a third person (we included the number of people in our party when we booked the room), there was an extra $15 fee for booking the room during a weekend, what??? And then other random fees. All together we were charged almost $30 more than we agreed to and would have stayed elsewhere for that price. I will be contacting Expedia tomorrow.

The room smelled moldy and horrible. There was hair in the tub. It was so disgusting that we left after 5 minutes of being there with no refund. Don’t go to this hotel, it stinks

The quiet and clean room, floor, bathroom, NO musty smell, plus a comfortable bed made the HBI a worthwhile.place to stay. The room a/c unit in the wall was powerful and kept the humid August summer air under dehumidified and well cooled.
