River Retreat - In Town Treat on The Chattahoochee River

  • Gaze out at the Chattahoochee River from just about every room. Open the windows and listen to the rippling flow of the water. Breathe the fresh air and enjoy the view from the deck or from the hot tub!

    This cabin has fully-equipped kitchen and gas grill on the deck for meals cooked at home. Would you rather eat out? River Retreat is within walking distance to downtown Helen! Should you decide to cook and eat at the cabin, the cabinets are filled with all the cookware, dinnerware and glassware you will need. Bring your favorite coffee pods for the Keurig coffee maker.

    The cozy couch is the perfect spot to snuggle up near the gas fireplace on chilly evenings. There is a streaming TV for your entertainment, so don't forget to bring your channel subscription login information. Please note that the Pac-Man game is not functioning.

    The main floor king bedroom has a bath with a walk-in shower. The upstairs king bedroom shares a bath with the guests staying in the loft. This bath features a shower/tub combination and the television is for playing DVDs only. In the loft there is a full size bed for two and a futon for one.

    This cabin has the perfect parking for those riding or bringing motorcycles up to the mountains. Please note that River Retreat has 23 steps from parking to the front door. Pets are not allowed at River Retreat.

    • Minimum Age Requirement: River Retreat is available to families or to guests 21 years or older.
    • Parking: Space is available for 3 vehicles.
    • Access: The road and driveway are paved
    • Pets: Pets are not allowed at River Retreat.
    • Location: 1.2 miles to downtown Helen. Cabin on the River is located directly behind the Helen Water Park on the opposite side of the Chattahoochee River.
    • Steps: The cabin is built on stilts and there are 20+ steps from the parking area up to the front door.

Our Favorite Cabin during our annual trip to Helen

What a nice property right on the water. We comfortably slept 5 there and 6 wouldn't be hard at all. Loved the rustic theme and the deck overlooking the river. Bring a coffee maker and a non stick pan is you are cooking but there are many places to eat in town. In the master bedroom we loved the pillows and mattress. We took the best nap with the door open listening to the river. We will definitely be back!

This was the perfect cabin for our family, we really enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable, the house and hot tub were clean, and the best part was being just steps away from the river. Lots of fishing! The location was close to town, just a couple minutes to drive but also walkable. But far enough from the main road where we got to enjoy nature and listen to the river. The best part was just sitting out back with our feet in the water. Highly recommend and we will definetly be back and would stay here again.

Very clean cabin, and it’s nestled right on the river. We enjoyed that. Things to consider: outdated kitchen, but everything did work. Not enough kitchen utensils, but we made it work. TV in den was on the smaller side, but it did work fine. I did know we would have to climb stairs to get inside, but it was just too much with luggage & groceries. Upstairs toilet could be tricky to flush, but it worked. I also wish the back porch would have been screened in. The hot tub worked fine, but most of the lights were blown in it. All in all, this was an accommodating cabin, but it needs upgrading.

Love the location of this cabin and the peaceful flow of the river directly adjacent. Everything was very peaceful and as advertised. My rating is lowered to 4 stars due to a slight shortage of flatware and kitchen utensils. Also, there was a significant noise issue with the dryer, which worked to dry clothing but drowned out any conversation within the house. We reported the problem to management upon checkout. Overall, we very much enjoyed the house.

The cabin is right on the river and was very nice! It is close to down town Helen but still seemed private! We even sat in the hot tub while listening to the river and it was so relaxing!

We enjoyed staying in the cabin by the creek. Loved the sounds while sitting on the deck. The beds were so comfortable! Very close to town. We'll be back!

Great location near to town, great use of hot tub on back deck, on the river, very quiet. Very clean. My only complaint was we couldn’t get the sound system working on the tv and could not get the volume up with any remote. Loved the wood decor and fireplace.
