Amazing Experience
Holy Cow, that a great place to stay! Our family of 5 had nothing but a wonderful experience. Location is excellent, close to town, high above the cliffs and water, just amazing! Watched whales from the porch multiple times, along with pods of dolphins. Loved everything about our adventure. House booklet has lots of suggested attractions. Downtown market is not to be missed. We explored many places including; Rainbow Falls, Kilauea Volcanoe Nat'l Park, Akaka Falls, Waipio Valley Lookout (great local places to eat/shop along the way), Laupahoehoe Beach Park, and more. Enjoyed a great breakfast @ Kens Diner. Burgers were terrific @ Hilo Burger Joint. Good dinner @ Seaside, casual setting with higher end offerings. Maybe best of all was just enjoying the amazing ocean sounds and views from the back porch of this home. One-of-a-kind, would highly recommend.

Beautiful Oasis
This is a great property! Ideal location, and Saul has everything ready you could need for excursions on the Big Island! And whales and pelagic birds visible each morning when we were there (beginning of April)!

Spectacular - Stay here!
This place was absolutely wonderful. PEACEFUL, welcoming, clean, spacious, unique, stocked with everything you might need (even if you didn't think of it yourself!) We appreciated all of the personal care and the recommendations for our time near Hilo. The sound of the waves against the rocks and the sunrise on the horizon... lifetime memories (even our teenagers noticed!) We watched the surfers sun up to sun down... (don't miss going down to the surfing beach!) If it's the right time of year, you can see whales from the kitchen windows, from the beautiful deck, from the bedroom. Not to mention that we saw whales and smelled plumeria flowers while showering outside. The yoga/ weight room is an extra gem. I never wanted to leave. Thank you!!

Heaven in Hilo
This property is amazing! Our only regret is we were only there for 2 nights. We could have stayed forever. The property is exactly as listed. The views are amazing. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. It is a great place to unwind. The whale watching was out of this world! We are already planning another visit! Thank you Saul!

Wonderful stay
We loved this property and its amazing view of the ocean. We loved Hilo - and we loved spending time here at the property, having dinners, watching surfers and the whales. Saul the owner/manager was welcoming and wanted us to be at home here during our stay. We plan to come back here on our next visit to Hilo.

Magical stay in Hilo
Don’t stay here. Stay in a hotel instead. I want to keep this wonderful, magical, authentically Hawaiian house with the most insane view, and with the most thoughtful owner, all for myself and my family. We will be back!

Magical Place
We stayed at Saul's for three nights, and loved it. The description of the house is very accurate, in that it's not a modern condo type of place. Rather, it reflects an older, more gracious time on the big island and the way it's furnished and decorated matches that. It was charming, comfortable and very clean, and it had everything you could need, particularly in the kitchen. The view from the lanai was incredible, and we loved seeing the big cruise ships coming and going. The location was perfect, very close to downtown Hilo, which we love. We hope to return in the future, but for a longer stay!

Fantastic
We were there for 4 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Lanai is beyond belief with the scenery and ambiance. We spent many hours there and even saw numerous Spinner Dolphins. Saul, the owner, was very easy to deal with. Mahalo

Hawaiian Gem
This is an amazing property. We absolutely loved it. Sunrise on the lanai is incredible. Sounds weird, but I was totally into the outdoor shower. Everything you could need for cooking and adventuring. Host is fantastic, great communication, left house warming presents, very helpful guest book, especially the hike down to Honolii beach, don't skip that. Super convenient to Hilo, five minutes to downtown yet you feel like you are in your own little island looking out the back windows. I would definitely rent again if we return to Hawaii.

AMAZING LOCATION
We had a family trip starting in Maui for a memorial for our Mom. There were 14 of us all together in Hilo. My husband & I stayed at this location with my sister and brother in-law. The owners description was spot on. The house was charming and had one of the best stocked kitchens in all of the vacation rental homes I've stayed. The lanai was to die for. Pretty much every night the 14 of us gathered for dinner or after dinner to end our day and it accommodated all of us very easily. The view was the best, I sat on the lanai every morning drinking my coffee while watching and listening to the waves crashing against the rocks and watching the sunrise. As stated in the description it does not have the high end resort amenities, but the charm and comfort of the home was amazing. If there was a con it would be that there is no air conditioning, which did not bother my sister who is from California, but those of us from cold Washington State found it a little hot, however the location and the charm of the home alleviated that issue. If you are looking for a low key, charming home with an amazing view I would highly recommend this home. If I make another trip to Hilo we will stay again. My brother fell in love with it. My guess is he may stay there when he visits again. Mahalo to our host who had great communication!

Great Place Near Hilo
This house is in a most excellent location, perched above the ocean, facing the sunrise. It is close to Hilo yet removed from the tourist scene. It is so very comfortable and peaceful! We all loved the house and the awesome view.

Big Island Getaway
The house and views were amazing! Spent most of the days exploring the island, but the home was cozy, convenient, and in a great location for a quiet getaway. The location right in the water made it perfect to enjoy the breeze right off the ocean, and the master bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Big Island!

Coastal paradise
We really enjoyed our stay at this VRBO in Hilo. A perfect location with an incredible view. This is an older, quaint Hawaiian coastal home that fit our needs perfectly. Communication from the home owner was excellent, and the home had everything we could think of needing/using. And did I mention the view!?!? It was AMAZING. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Hilo. Mahalo!

Absolutely Breathtaking!
I cannot adequately describe how wonderful this place is. The view is unbeatable. The house is located right above the ocean, and the sound of the waves hitting the cliffs below is just awesome. The lanai is the best! Very large, with great outdoor table and lots of seating. Our favorite things were the hammock and the outside shower. The house has a lot of character and plenty of room. I have never stayed in a VRBO that was better equipped. They had absolutely everything you could think of needing, including condiments and everything you need to cook with. Because of how wonderful the place was, we cooked in every night. We just did not want to leave the house to sightsee because of how much we enjoyed it there. The owners were so kind and helpful. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! We hope we can come back one day!

Classic house with classic view
After carefully reviewing all of the online photos of this place, I knew it had a great view. But you can't fully appreciate it until stepping out onto the back deck with the waves hitting the shore almost directly below you. This is the kind of place that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like someone who is lucky enough to live here. This is a classic house that harkens back to a time before all of the beautiful places were overrun by commercialism. The only downside to this property is that you are tempted to not go out exploring the island and just stay on the back deck. What a treasure.

THE VIEW
If you are like me and want a lovely lanai with a beautiful view, then look no further. The pictures do not do it justice. We spent hours relaxing on the deck, listening to the waves crash and letting all the stress of the world melt away. Loved it.

This is a special place. The house sits on the edge of a cliff with views in three directions. The sound of the waves is mesmerizing. Palm trees wave from the cliff edge. Surfers catch waves in the distance. The house is not fancy, but ever so cozy. It was very hard to leave!

6 nights was not enough
We loved our visit to Saul’s house! It was pretty windy and rained almost every night but the design of the patio allowed us to still enjoy the amazing view when the weather wasn’t ideal. We all slept great! The unattached room/gym/yoga studio downstairs was a great office for one family member who needed to work most mornings. The house is cozy and had pretty much everything we needed. We loved watching the surfers and walking to the surf beach. The house is an easy drive to Hilo, Volcano NP, Mauna Kea visitor center and the Hamakua coast. We ate most of our meals enjoying the view. Saul was always very quick to reply and we’d love to return!

Sunrise and whale watching from the deck
Perfect place for my wife and I. We enjoyed a great walk along waterfalls to the swimming / surfing hole (you can see from the deck) Some steep sections on a quiet road with the sound of water cascading. We cooked at "home" in a well equipped kitchen and enjoyed, I am sure, one of the best tables on the Island. We spent 10 nights. Other than our walks and brief trips to the shops and farmers market we rarely left. No reason to. Loved every minute even the few rainy days.

Amazing & Comfortable Experience
From the moment we arrived we felt at home and comfortable. It’s a stunning piece of property with a gorgeous balcony that you can view surfers to the right enjoying the ocean and pods of dolphins to the left frolicking. World class views. Couldn't be closer to the water. Listening to ocean all night long so soothing.
The cliff house is the best house I’ve ever stayed in. We stayed for 7 days. Everytime we walked out to the deck, the comment was “Wow! I can’t believe we are here! Beautiful, Unique Home with the Best View
Such an amazing, magical place! You can certainly feel the love poured into this house. The view from the lanai is absolutely stunning - especially at sunrise. The house is super cozy and perfect for cooking, socializing, or just relaxing. The location is great - just a short drive from downtown Hilo, but far enough out of town to be quiet and peaceful. One of our favorite parts of our trip to Hawaii was lounging on the lanai in the moonlight, watching geckos crawl about, and listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean. We had a great time here and would rent this house again in a heartbeat!

This is the 2nd time we've stayed here. Saul is a great host and the property is beautiful. lt's was even better this time than it was the 1st time we stayed. We rented a Jeep Wrangler and spent a week driving all over the island. This vacation now ranks as one of the best we've ever take.

The owners had all kinds of nice amenities. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of towels. Lots of kitchen tools as well. They really thought of everything. The view from the balcony and the master was gorgeous and you could hear the waves all night. It is a quiet neighborhood so know that you can’t stay outside too late as the sound carries.

What a view!
As you can already tell from the photos, the views from the lanai are breathtaking. We spent every morning and evening soaking up the horizon. And thanks to clever sliding panels in the decking, we were able to enjoy the lanai even during rainy spurts. The location was also great - super close to the action in Hilo, but off the beaten trail enough to be quiet and peaceful. The accommodations were also solid - comfy beds, seating, and a spacious kitchen. Overall, great place!

Great week of relaxation
Had a great Mon-Fri week staying at this location. The setting is fantastic; we spent about half of the week just sitting around the house, particularly on the deck, and watching the world go by. The property owners have gone out of their way to provide anything you could think you would need. We really appreciated that respect and trust they had in their guests, asking only that we respect their place in return. The beds were comfortable, and the outdoor shower is definitely an experience! Would definitely stay there again. Had a great time.

What a view!
You almost feel like you are on a cruise ship from the balcony. Can get very humid due to the lack of AC, but there are a ton of fans to help you keep comfortable. The outdoor shower is wonderful and the view of the stars on a clear night are unbelievable. Very unique property and I’m so glad that we stayed here!

Hilo Magic
This house is full of the Hawaiian, especially Hilo, spirit. It is not what we expected but as we got comfortable we found more than we expected. The floors creak and the geckos are beautiful but the view is beyond spectacular. We felt safe and secure in this lovely home and to us that means everything. A bottle of champagne and a fresh papaya were waiting for us! If you want to experience the true Hawaiian spirit stay here!

Best Honeymoon
My husband and I stayed here for a week for our honeymoon and couldn’t have asked for a better location. This is our second trip to Hilo and second stay at Saul’s location, we definitely plan to return in the future. The property is amazing with such beautiful views. We couldn’t have asked for a better home and stay! Highly recommend!
