Restored, Historic Mill House Near The NCR Trail

  • Quaint, Maryland Registered 1856 Mill House close to the NCR Trail, Gunpowder River, Little Falls and Prettyboy Reservoir. Enjoy a quiet retreat in our small but charming cottage near beautiful farms and wooded hills, with a flowing spring, two patios, and second floor porch. Almost five acres of grounds with a stream and small field. The house has a first floor modern kitchen with stone walls and dining area. The second floor is a truly magical log sided living room, bathroom and porch. The bedroom is located on the third floor. A quiet and peaceful retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation, far from the madding crowd (but not too far - Big Truck Farm Brewery is 3 miles away). Ideal for couples and singles seeking a quiet place to work or play. House is NOT handicapped accessible. There is a chimnea on the patio and firewood for guest use. The fireplace in the house is not presently operational.

We rarely rent the same home twice but love the charm and comfort of this beautiful home. We rang in the new year again playing games in the kitchen. The middle floor is super comfortable where we lingered sipping morning coffee while watching a movie. The bedroom is decorated with comfort in mind and the bathroom is nicely done.. The house is very clean, and thoughtfully decorated to ensure a nice stay! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Great vaca away from it all

My wife and I really enjoyed outmr stay at the Old Mill House. It was exactly what we were looking for: away from the city, but with all the amenities if home. We especially enjoyed the use of the chimnea and grill on the patio, and the hammock on the balcony. Would definitely stay again!

A wonderful getaway less than 1 hour from Baltimore

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Just a short drive from Baltimore, we were able to reset in nature which was very needed. The house is very clean, well-maintained and well-stocked. It's perfect for a couple. We can't wait to hopefully return in warmer months and spend some time on the deck.

Lovely historic mill house with three levels of charm. Enjoy first level kitchen and outdoor covered porch entry, second floor living and third floor loft bedroom. Second floor offers a balcony porch and rear slate patio. Cozy style home with nice features for a comfortable hillside in the woods retreat.
Front Entry with charming rockets and glider to enjoy the view!
Attractive front patio with views of the wooded grounds, grill and fire pit provided.

artsy interior and serene surroundings

A lovely home with even lovelier art and amenities nestled in the woods for all the privacy one could want while being surrounded by nature. All one needs for a very relaxing get away. We were in town for a wedding and I only wish I had more time to explore and enjoy.

Perfect midweek getaway for a nature retreat

Beautiful, peaceful property. This was the perfect home base for me as I was attending a nearby training immersed in nature. Host was generous and responsive. Can't wait to return with my husband for another getaway.

Lovely and relaxing

A superior place to stay. We especially loved the second-floor porch (where we spent hours every day, reading in the morning and watching deer at dusk). Just one very small suggestion: better pillows for the bed and cushions for the outside seats.

Amazing

Hands down one of our favorite places we have ever booked! You can tell the owners take pride in their rental and don’t cheapen out like many other rentals do. So comfy and cozy! The area is so peaceful and our dog loved exploring, including swimming in the creek down the street. Make sure to check out the brewery nearby, it’s great! We’ll definitely be back!

Always Great

This is our third time visiting the Mill House and the reason is simple: it is consistently always clean, quiet, relaxing, and a beautiful place to spend a sunny weekend. We enjoy coming to the Mill House when we want to "disconnect from reality" an recharge. This visit, we made sure to make it and hike some of the great trails in the area which there are many. We'll definitely be returning again in the future.

Perfect Peaceful Getaway

Everything was lovely, tucked away in a 19th century stone Miller's house in a little valley by a stream. Perfect renovation with all details thought out. We were very comfortable & it was very quiet like being far into the woods, yet so convenient. Splurged to eat at the old Milton Inn in nearby Sparks, also a stone house, for an old fashioned weekend, back in time.

Perfect!

This was our second time at this wonderful place. First stay was in January, so this time we were able to enjoy the outdoor spaces, especially the front balcony & the chiminea. The house is lovely and extremely comfortable for two people. The kitchen is spacious and well-stocked, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, yet close to amenities. Everything you need for a restorative getaway weekend!

Second Visit

This was our second visit to David's property and it was just as great as we remembered it. We intended to do some more exploring and hiking, but the house is so relaxing we found it difficult to leave. The weather outside was nice, so we spend a lot of time on the second floor porch. We will be coming back to visit again soon!
