Old post station from 1857. Romantic thatched cottage, half of the house. Dog friendly!

This idyllic vacation rental is part of a picturesque thatched-roof cottage—a former post station dating back to 1857. The thatched-roof cottage, last renovated in 2018, is a duplex. One half is rented out year-round, while the other serves as the vacation rental. The thatched-roof cottage is located in Högsdorf, in the Plön district. In picturesque Holstein Switzerland. Approximately 11 kilometers from the beaches at Sehlendorf or Hohwacht.

It is located on a street corner: Krähenberg / Gowenserstraße, at the foot of a hill with three unusual houses—see photos. The thatched cottage on the street corner, the landlord’s residence above it, and another small office building at the very top of the hill.

The vacation rental spans two floors. On the first floor, there is a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom with a shower. Upstairs, there is a bedroom and a loft. It measures approximately 80 m².

In addition to a spacious seating area, the living room features a TV with Netflix access; a DVD player, a radio with CD player, and speakers for a smartphone or iPod, etc…

The kitchen is equipped with, among other things, a NESPRESSO machine, a milk frother, a kettle, a 2-burner stove, a toaster, a separate oven for pizza, etc., and a dishwasher.

The bathroom has a toilet, sink, shower, and hair dryer.

The bedroom upstairs has a double bed.

PLEASE note that the stairs are relatively steep due to the old thatched-roof cottage.

Wi-Fi is, of course, available; as are at least one fly screen per room, an ironing board and iron, and a small clothes drying rack. There is no washing machine, but laundry can be done for 5 euros per load in the landlord’s main house.

Smoking is not permitted inside the house; but dogs are welcome.

There is a parking space and storage for 2 bicycles in a separate shed.
The garden features benches, lounge chairs, a small table with chairs for breakfast or coffee, a deck chair, and a parasol. There is also an electric grill.

From Högsdorf, you can quickly reach the small town of Lütjenburg [11 km] for shopping at stores such as famila, ALDI, LIDL, REWE, and Penny, among others. See also Lütjenburg Tower Castle. Beaches in Sehlendorf and Hohwacht [11 km], or Plön am See [19 km], the small town of Eutin [18 km], or Malente [11 km]. A little further away are Heiligenhafen [33 km] and Fehmarn [51 km], as well as many picturesque manor houses. Kiel [45 km], Lübeck [61 km], and Hamburg [117 km] are also good options for day trips.
