Thanksgiving at the Ivy

Our family drove from Chicago to see my 80 year old dad and have an early Thanksgiving. The property was just right…beautiful design, cozy atmosphere. We all love it. Hope to come in the summer!

Family Outing

We had a great stay at the Ivy Cottage. Grandparents, parents, aunt and uncle, and two pre-teen boys spent a week prior to the boys starting school. The house had plenty of room and everything we needed was available.

Great for families

Fabulous place for children. My grandchildren loved it. The teen loved the air hockey and big screen and even the baby felt comfortable and loved all the space to practice her crawling. I would highly recommend this vacation rental if you are traveling with children

Great stay

We really enjoyed this cottage. The bed were nice and the place is clean. My only “negative” comment is that the guest staying in the basement have to go up 2-4 flights of stairs to take a shower/bath. Management was amazing at communicating and accommodating where possible.

Great location. The check in was perfect and great communication with host. The water was well and not well maintained. The showers heads were full of rust and I had to clean it off, only to find that there must not have been enough salt in the tank because it was extremely drying to your skin and it smelled. Very disappointing. If the water issue is resolved I’d give this place a 5. The coffee pot water reservoir was brown and that’s probably due to the water. We didn’t use it. We purchased bottled water to drink and to rinse our mouth with it. My previous home had well water and was never gross like this. Always drinkable.

Holland

This was a great property! We came for a quick trip for my birthday and for a GVSU tour. The house was clean, stocked and comfy. The homeowner was very available and commucated quickly and regularly. The house accommodated my family of five nicely. Lots of room and the projector screen and air hockey game were great for my teenagers. This house slso allowed us to bring our Jack Russell on our trip. This was a great perk of renting this house. The neighborhood is quiet and the house is close to the lake and close to shopping and restaurants. Great house and great location!

Holland MI Family Vacation

Phoebe was a wonderful host. Communicated promptly. The layout of the house was exactly what we expected. 4 bedroom and 2 1/2 baths, plenty of room for 3 couples and 2 small children. The house was extremely clean, especially the bathrooms, bedrooms, and Kitchen. We fixed breakfast and lunch every day at the house and dinner 3 of 5 nights. We had a fire in the firepit every night as it was cooler than normal June week in Holland. We brought our own Firewood, but we were also able to find a private residence nearby selling firewood at a reasonable price. We walked to the Beach ... only 2 blocks ... but there was parking at Riley Beach if you would prefer to drive. There were also bikes available in the garage, but we didn't have a chance to use them. The downtown area was a 10-minute drive, which we went to multiple times.

Not great

We had expected more than what our experience was. When we pulled up there was tons of spider webs all over the house. Covering windows and doorways. There was a hose sprawled out across the lawn and the landscaping was unkept. When we walked into the home there was a musty, moldy smell but got even worse when we went into the basement. The smell was so bad down there we were not able to use the theater or games. We contacted the host and she asked us to open the windows to get the air circulating but there were many spiders between the window and screens there was no way we wanted to open the windows. The host did have her cleaner come take care of the spider webs somewhat and said the smell was taken care of but when we got back to the house from our day out and about the basement still had such a bad smell no one wanted to watch a movie on the theater. I will say the host did try to make our stay better but I asked for a partial refund since we could not even use the fun areas of the house and that was not given.

This home was a great choice for us. It was close to family. We visited the beach, but it was December so we didn't stay long. However, we're planning to return next summer with more family and we'd like to stay here again.

Cute little escape!

Phoebe was fantastic to work with and was over-the-top accommodating for us. The house was impeccably clean, and had a unique layout with lots of different areas to sit. It is very up to date and on a quiet little street. We will keep this place in mind for future rentals!

Retreat

We had an event retreat that was virtual and decided to gather some friends and get away from home to make it a better experience. This house was perfect with the huge TV in the front room to watch our event on, lots of room to break off into small groups. They have thought every thing through and furnished it beautifully! From the super comfy floor chairs to the game station! Thank you, we would go back and actually talked about making it an annual trip for us!
