!!!DO NOT BOOK!!! Actual property is almost uninhabitable. DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE PHOTOS!! Mold on the drapes, drapes are non functional/torn. Furniture is garbage/stained. Fans/lights don’t work. Many repairs needed. This is a completely neglected property. I cannot believe it is being offered for rent. Unlock code was not provided at check in. I had to call multiple times and beg for it. Completely ridiculous. Worst travel experience of my life, but was non refundable. Photos were provided to the listing company. I was assured several times that my concerns see being “escalated to the local team”, which I assume does not exist. This is a criminal organization to say the least. !!!DO NOT BOOK!!! My family and I had a fantastic stay at the Ilima Suite in The Ilikai. The condo was exactly as described – spacious, clean, and comfortable, with breathtaking ocean views from every room. Waking up to see the surf and enjoying sunsets made our trip incredibly memorable. The location is hard to beat. We loved being close to the action of Waikiki while still in a slightly quieter spot; it was the perfect base for exploring Honolulu. The condo was fresh and clean upon our arrival. The condo is well-appointed and felt like a home away from home. We were three adults, and the two bedrooms and two bathrooms gave everyone plenty of space and privacy. The living area was spacious with a big sofa and table for 6. Although we did not cook, we appreciated the fully equipped kitchen as it allowed us to have coffee and snacks in the condo. There are a few restaurants and a convenience store right in the building lobby as well as Dukes Lagoon for surfing lessons and board rental. Duke’s service and pricing were outstanding! There are several ABC Stores close by which made it easy to grab a quick bite or last-minute items. Communication and check-in were smooth and professional. This property is managed by a local company (Grand Welcome Vacation Rentals), and they sent us detailed instructions ahead of time. The check-in process was effortless. Getting into the condo was no problem at all with the key code and clear directions provided. Having a key code is nice that you do

Stayed with our family of 6. Pros: great location within walking distance to beach, stores and waikiki area about 20min or bus stop is a few min away. Kitchen was decently equipped.Cons: as soon as we walked in the place was not as bright as the photos let on. It was musty and grimmy. The walls and doors are dirty, the furniture and beds are all worn (definetly not new as ad stated), the curtains were all torn. The place definetly shows its age, its a very old building. I suppose when comparing relative prices to other places in the area its kind of expected but still very expensive.

Do Not Book – Misleading Listing, Moldy Curtains, and Zero Accountability

I stayed at this property from May 19–29 and it was a complete disaster from the moment I arrived. The condo looks nothing like the photos on Vrbo. The furnishings are outdated and worn, and there was visible mold growing on the curtains—a serious health hazard. The unit was also unclean and clearly not maintained.I contacted the property management immediately, sent photos, and asked for a resolution. They told me the issue would be escalated to higher management—and then I never heard a word back. No apology. No follow-up. No solution. We were stuck for 10 nights in a place that felt dirty, unsafe, and absolutely not as advertised.This rental is blatant false advertising, and the total lack of accountability from the host or property manager is unacceptable. I would never book here again and strongly warn others to avoid this listing and this host entirely.

Has potential to be great

The space is pretty large, it worked well for 2 small families. Great location close to alot of places to eat, shop and walking distance to a beach. The room itself could use some help. The shower curtain the bathroom is moldy, there is no locks on the sliders (a bit of a safety hazard for us with toddlers), there's a hole in the wall where an outlet once was so no where to plug anything in in the bedroom. Lots of little things like that. No remote for the fan in the bedroom to turn on the light/adjust the fan. It just feels like there are renovations that never got done. Also the parking costs in the post should be updated. The valet cost is actually $45/day and the lot nearby is $28/day. I liked the area but Im not sure id stay at this condo again since there are so many good options nearby.

Amazing location and view

This was a truly beautiful view from every window. The property was clean and accurately described. Although there is some deferred maintenance that should be addressed, overall, the property is in good condition. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Unit needs repairs

The only thing that’s nice about this unit is the view. The curtains are ripped and don’t work in the living room. The ceiling fan in the dining room doesn’t work. Walls need to be painted, toilet paper holders are missing from the wall. We could never get the TV in the living room to work, the communication with the property manager is terrible. I reached out to them every day and I never got a response on the phone just that someone would contact me via text. There should be a check in binder in the unit with instructions and passwords for Internet. the whole condo unit was experiencing electrical outages , so those were challenges that we had to face. If The owner of the unit would spend some money for some much-needed repairs. It would be a nice unit. However, we will not be staying here again, nor will we recommend this unit. We live on the island of Kauai and we are property managers ourselves.

Love the location

There was 7 of us staying. 3 adults and 4 adult kids. Having a sleeper sofa, and the air matresses provided were great. We were hardly there since we were out enjoying the island. It worked out great for us, and would stay again.

Nice but broken

The curtains don't close all the way, are torn, and the apparatus do not function properly; the sliding doors to the lanai do not lock, which made me nervous with a two year old. The shower curtains were stained; there was no plug for the tub drain, no toilet paper holders--just a lot of standard accommodations I would have expected for the amount of money I was spending. Also, it was advertised that the Ilikai charges $28 for parking and they charge $45, so that was another surprise. Not what I expected. The rest of the unit seemed fine.

Issues

The view was amazing! The curtains were broken. I called to request more towels and they never called me back. The shutters on the doors were broken. Not enough toilet tissue for 6 guest. The shower curtain smelled like mildew. Everything else was fine.

Missing small details

Overall this is a great property and location, it just needs someone to pay attention to some easily fixable details. There were no instructions about what to do with the garbage. I left messages with the mgmnt company twice and no one got back to me until almost the end of our stay. We had bags of garbage sitting in the room for days. We paid a pretty hefty sum to stay here, so I would expect a little higher quality of place. The good- Excellent location, nice building, and great layout of the room. We really enjoyed our stay. The bad- room was not cleaned well, I had to sweep twice after check in, and got large piles of sand off the floor. A few other cleaning misses as well. The front closet doors were off track and just hanging there. Some fresh caulking around the tubs/showers etc, would go a long way. The cookware is terrible, old stainless steel, worn out pans. I bought a new non-stick pan just so we could cook breakfast without it sticking (which we left behind for the next guests to enjoy). Owners could easily replace it all for less than $100. There is an iron, but no ironing board. The boogie boards that were available for use, are so old and busted up, that we had to go buy new ones (which we also left behind). The curtains were falling off and didn't work well. There are blackout type curtains in the second bedroom, but not the master. The sun comes up on the master side, so it was bright as day in there by 6:30am- so much for sleeping in on vacation. These small details are easily fixable for a few hundred dollars, and some attention from the owners or management company. They could have been the difference between a 3 star and 5 star rating. This could be an amazing rental property, if someone just took the time to keep on top of these simple items before they become an issue. Thank you.

Great apartment in Waikiki for young family

The unit was a nice spot for our young family. Playpen was provided for baby to sleep in. There were sand toys, beach towels and beach chairs available for us to use. Functional kitchen. The pullout bed worked okay for a child, but would not be very soft for an adult to sleep on. The building is older; this unit has been renovated. Very easy to walk to the beach using the pedestrian ramp that connects to the lobby level. You first access the Hilton lagoon area (which is public), then can continue to main Waikiki beach. The lobby level swimming pool water was kept warm, my kids loved it on cooler/windy days. Onsite restaurants and shopping was convenient, and lots of restaurants and shops in the Hilton Hawaiian Village next door, very easy to walk to.

We had a great holiday in Hawaii however the suite itself was a disappointment as noted below. Painting & repairs needed throughout. Kitchen poorly supplied Curtains need to be replaced Lights do not work properly Bathrooms need new silicone & tlc In summary it is a very old building & is showing it’s age.

The property the Ilikai grounds were very well kept. The condo could use some sprucing up. Balconies could use some more furniture. One balcony didn't have any chairs to sit at. We experienced a water leak in the shower from the until above and could not get the contact person to return a call. Got hotel involved who later found that a pipe had a leak, Hall way to our unit was littered with trash cans and large blowers that were loud and annoying. Wallpaper falling off the wall. Just not what we had expected for our first experience in Hawaii.
