The casita layout and amenities were nice. Every meal we had at the restaurant was wonderful but be sure that you have time for a leisurely paced meal. We had a fun lesson with the golf pro. The walking trail to the beach was nice. It is true that the casitas have noticeable wear and tear but that had minimal impact on our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great place for a peaceful and private vacation.

Paradise in Paradise. Spectacular resort nestled amongst the mountains of Isabella, Puerto Rico. The casitas have thought of every amenity to ensure a peaceful, luxurious stay. The walkout shower overlooking the ocean and flora is breathtaking as is the individual plunge pool. Spacious room provides privacy and luxury. Restaurant is delicious but you cannot be rushed as service can be slow but worth the wait. Beach is 170 steps down a cliff but neighboring Jobos beach is worth the trip - surfers paradise with lots of restaurants/bars. Royal Isabela is for those that value quiet, luxury and a slower pace. I would not recommend for children as the resort is not set up for young ones and boredom will kick in disrupting the tranquility of those around them. Beautiful pools, great tennis courts and outstanding golf course. Security is very tight to ensure guest’s privacy. Pro’s - EVERYTHING THIS RESORT OFFERS, Cons/Suggestions - linen could use a refresh. Special mention for concierge workers and Manuel the bell hop and golf cart driver - they provided exceptional service. Lastly, I highly recommend renting a car as car service is costly and difficult to obtain and Uber is practically non-existent. Royal Isabela and its staff provided the most memorable birthday celebration of my life! We will be back, thank you for providing a memorable experience.

Missed Opportunity
Great scenery, wonderful food, very pleasant staff, somewhat remote. There is no beach to use. Property desperately needs investment. Beautiful golf course but POORLY maintained. Real golfers will be disappointed Rooms are nice but not receiving needed maintenance. Fixtures broken, amenities unavailable. Could be spectacular. Wait to see what new owners do.

Total privacy wanted and I can't believe this hidden treasure I found in my town of Isabela. I don't know any one who experienced this beauty. I would definitely come back and enjoy this experience again. The staff, food, privacy, nature scenery and oceanic view make it all everlasting experience...

Extremely picturesque fantasy hidden beau-treasure
Watchful from top of hill the sunset left an inner beauty and glow I'll treasure for a lifetime. The time spent was worth it, regardless was a bit on the expensive. The total privacy and isolation from busy hotels made it super special and welcoming for any couples' wanting a lone time and get away just to relax... I give rating of ***** (5 stars). Amazing hotel. Beautiful casasita!
The only chnage I would make is having better access to the beach. It was a fun and adventurous walk, but I wish the hotel made it easier to guests to get to the beach on their own and without any extra fee.

Small piece of Paradise
My husband had always dreamed of visiting this hotel and i decided to surprise him on our Anniversary. It was just stunning. Felt like royalty. Our in room tub with shower and doors that led to outdoor private jacuzzi with an oceanview. Total relaxation. Delicious dinner at restaurant in premises. And last but not least a bottle of champagne and snacks as a gift for our anniversary from hotel management! What else can we ask for.

My experience at the Isabella was amazing. The room was perfect. Great size "casita" with your own deck, pool & area. The hotel is gated off & has security which lets you in or out, so it's definitely safe. The gym has great equipment. The restaurant has really good food. Nice pool area. Rooms & everything was very clean & well maintained. My only complaint was one night we came back to a HUGE beetle by our bathroom sink. Not sure where it came from, or how it got there but other than that my stay was great.

Quiet retreat
Solid 4 star hotel, beautiful property and very quiet surrounding from our casitas. Lack of luxury feel for the furniture, bed and bedding. Lack of food choices and breakfast was not much of a continental since there were basically only some bread and fruit and cheese. No eggs, you can order but it will be charge. A sense of over promises and under deliver, our friends casita doors to the pool was stuck they said will get fix while we were out to eat, never got fix... Said there were slippers included in our room, I called for it and it never came. Only one restaurant on the property, food was decent. So beside the quiet and beautiful view from our room not much else was there and service was also just decent for the hotel class.

The staff was warm, and welcoming. The casitas were clean, comfortable and private. There was nothing the staff wasn't willing to help us find. They were knowledgeable about the surrounding area, and were able to guide us to enjoyable experiences on and off the resort. They treated us as if they had known us for years, rather than with polite separation.

Wonderful small family getaway
We had the most fantastic time! My husband, 6-yr old son and I stayed at Royal Isabela after reading that the resort was primarily for couples. We loved the idea of having a plung pool right outside of our casa! And it didn't disappoint! Each day, we used the plung pool for a few hours. Each day, we used elements of the resort, and our son LOVED it! The employees were friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. At many times, we felt like we had the entire resort all to ourselves. We loved the experience and look forward to returning!

Great private ocean front golf resort
Royal Isabela is a great and huge ocean front golf resort with friendly staff. It is ideal for people who would appreciate a quite vacation with amazing ocean view and golf oriented place to stay. It is pretty private and safe with only 20 villas and gated security. It is located at north west of Puerto Rico which means you have to rent a car for transportation. The resort could consider to have more dining and entertaining options for there is only one restaurant and a bar on site.

Fabulous!
Our stay at the Royal Isabela was wonderful. The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The casita was pure luxury...very private yet close to everything. The restaurant was really good. We only ventured outside of the resort one day. We stayed a week and didn't want to leave!

Went downhill
We stayed here last year and thought we could have the same experience. But we didn't. Service is non-existent. Hotel is way overpriced for what it offers in terms of service. Rooms or casitas, have not been updated at all, sunken mattress left all of us with back pain. Simple lunch of burgers and fish tacos took 90 minutes to serve at restaurant. Never again.

Just what we were looking for
This was our first stay at the Royal Isabela and first visit to Puerto Rico. Not only were the accommodations first rate, the staff were just the friendliest, most helpful and most diligent about making us feel comfortable and at home. The deck of our casita was a great place to let the hours just pass by with a magnificent view of the ocean with the breakers visible above the forest dropping below us. The sound of the waves and the numerous birds alighting on the all the vegetation surrounding our casita were the only noise we heard. The tennis court was beautiful -- cool and the sun screened just enough by the trees strategically placed around it. Walking on the back nine of the golf course early in the morning after clearing it with the pro was just breathtaking. The beach below the resort was easily accessible with a well-maintained stairway and pathway. It was two miles of beautiful sand with nary a soul in sight on most walks. We found a place to swim down by a rocky point that was protected. We had one of the best Valentine Day's dinner ever at the restaurant. Some of the other dinners we had were closer to an A- with some of the fish a bit over done. The continental breakfast every morning was perfect. Perhaps it was just the time of year that we visited the Northwest coast, but it was hard to find enough restaurants open in the early half of the week outside the resort, but there was always a table available there. Hoping to be able to return.

Incredible place and no mosquitoes!
Was a little worried about mosquitoes in Puerto Rico, but didn't see any in Old San Juan or at Royal Isabella. The Casitas are amazing, very private with your own plunge pool. Can hear the ocean and see the water on the distance. Restaurant decent with reasonable prices for a resort.

Great place to stay. I loved the property.
Royal Isabela is a wonderful place. The view is great, the food was good and the staff was the best. The golfing is expensive but I loved the course. The casita's are very nice, quite and private.

Ireland in the caribbean!
Booked this place by accident, it looks like you are in Ireland, but has caribbean weather. Gold course is amazing with ocean cliff views. The rooms called casitas(little house) are one of the best I have ever stayed in. Huge bed, huge bathroom area and your own very private deck with a pool !!!

Its a paradise for reatong and relaxing...no crowds or noise...just beautiful views and the sound of waves!!! If you want to relax, this is the place to go!!!

Most Elegant Place to Stay in PR: Relais & Chateau
The Royal Isabela is, from what I saw of Puerto Rico, the only Relais & Chateaux level (it's not official an R & C property but it should be) accommodation in PR. It's gorgeous, elegant, exclusive & the staff treat you like royalty! Hilary greeted us at theConcierge/Front Desk & this woman made us immediately feel like we had returned home. The golf course is very challenging with amazing views of the Atlantic. Everything about the facility is top notch including the dining which was easily the best food we found in PR! Others who were great included Gabby, Rafael, neichy... All wonderful hosts to this special place! 6 stars!
