Tolle, ruhige homebase

Sehr schöne Gesamtanlage In einem ehemaligen Landsitz mit viel Grün außen rum. Inklusive Park. Dass die Heizungen selbst im Juni laufen überraschte uns anfänglich aber es war trotzdem sehr angenehm immer ein warmen Ort zu finden. Ein Genuss ist die Swimmingpool und weitere Freizeitanlage. Für uns im Juni war allerdings auch sehr wenig los.

Quiet place

Good place when reach accomadation path to access not easy for disabled people. We were given information for disabled about flat which was correct but not about how to get there my daughter who has the self propelled wheelchair was unable to gain access in wheelchair which did make things a bit difficult as she is an adult.

Peaceful

Great location to relax and unwind but within easy reach to explore Devon. Good, comfortable apartment, lovely grounds and pool. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Very Pleasant Cottage

Cottage is spacious and airy, well equipped. Some care needs to be taken whilst staying to manage condensation owing to the humid micro-climate of the area. Communication with the owner was good and assistance was very quickly available to deal with a couple of trivial points.

very calm, beautiful place

the property is a country house not luxurious but comfortable enough. we stayed on a rainy week with our 16 year son and we had a great time. we enjoyed the commodities, tennis court, indoor pool, pong table, and the forest near the house is beautiful. the house is very well situated. nearby there's a lot to explore. Ivybridge and Bigbury-on-Sea were our favourite. we would go again and recommend.

Just perfect

We spent a very relaxing few days staying at Woodside. The property is located in a pretty and quiet area, albeit with close access to shops for necessities. The place is spacious, as seen in the photos, and fully equipped with all essentials. We felt very rested after sleeping in the comfy bed and thoroughly enjoyed all the additional perks like the indoors swimming pool and table tennis. The open plan kitchen was great for cooking while hanging out in the living room. Communication with the host was excellent, instructions were clear and Paul always responded promptly to any enquiry. Everything was just super smooth, would definitely visit again!

Lovely spacious apartment

We had a great weekend in this lovely property with it's own garden, set in the gorgeous grounds of the Colmer Estate. The apartment itself is very spacious with a cosy feel, and was very clean and welcoming on arrival, with cosy bedding, and crockery and utensils a plenty. Alongside being able to enjoy walks around the estate's grounds, having access to the swimming pool really was a treat.

Great, but check out what isn't provided

Everything stated is provided, it is all functional and clean. But it needs some tlc to make it warm and welcoming, and a little investment to bring the facilities up to date.

Lovely but in need of a deep clean

Colmer House, in which the property is located, is great. We were unable to use the outdoor pool (wrong season) but it was big and well maintained. We made extensive use of the indoor pool which is clean, modern and well maintained. The actual accommodation is a little dated and needs a deep clean. My wife cleaned the whole kitchen and washed the cutlery and dishes on arrival. The cutlery and some crockery were greasy. The oven and microwave were ‘used’ and hadn’t been cleaned in a while. If not for this we would have given the property five stars. Aside from this, bedding was clean and everything else was in order. The property is relatively isolated but within a short driving distance to various locations in South Devon or Dartmoor. We had a great stay.

Lovely little hideaway with use of a heated indoor pool

We stayed here to be close to family and it was perfect. The apartment is in an old house, but spacious with comfy beds, good shower and well-equipped kitchen. We stayed over New Year and it took us a while to heat the place up, but once we did it was lovely. Having unlimited access to a fabulous heated indoor pool was a real bonus and my grandchildren loved it. Would receommend.

Fabulous stay

We had a really great time staying at this accommodation and were really comfortable for our 4 day trip. We are a young family with a 2.5 year old and 4 month old baby and we found the apartment very family friendly, safe, and had some lovely toys in the living room. The indoor pool was a bonus, lovely and warm for all of us. One thing that I think would be useful to know is that there is a petrol station/SPAR 2 mins drive away that sells a huge selection of COOK ready meals which was AMAZING and would have saved some planning if we'd known this in advance - SO convenient! Thanks so much for a great stay.

Very pleasant cottage and location

A spacious and pleasantly decored and equipped cottage with a generous lawn area that catches the sun. Decent broadband and wi-fi for those with devices: on a heavily rainy day we watched Netflix (via our own laptop + HDMI cable) without issue. Good communication with the owner about a couple of minor issues. The Colmer Estate is a decent base for the generally calm beaches of the South Hams (20 minutes drive), trips to Dartmoor, longer journeys to Plymouth (30 mins) and the attractions of Paignton / Torquay (40 mins). The estate's two swimming pools keep the younger members of the family active and entertained (bring inflatables) and adults can use a small gym (rower / cross trainer / runing machine / cycling machine / core body bench) plus tennis court and fishing. The cottage is about 6 minutes walk to a small Spar convenience store and dining pub at California Cross, meaning that one can enjoy lazy days without too much worry regarding being able to eat: a huge Tesco Extra is 20 minutes drive away at Lee Mill. "Nice to have" features would be for the property to have a dishwasher and washer / dryer rather than the existing separate washing machine and tumble dryer.

Pleasant place to stay for a quiet break

This property is pleasant for a quiet break. Both swimming pools clean and heated. Decoration OK and all facilities in Woodside work. Play area a little disappointing. We would book again

High Quality Base

Lovely property that is in an excellent location making it easy to travel to the coast or other cities and attractions. Also, if you have a rainy day the indoor pool was there to save the day. Thoroughly recommended.

Grand building on the outside but the inside did not live up to the outside.

I had to hoover up all the cobwebs and spiders in every room,even in the wardrobe before I could put my clothes away. Very musty and damp smell in the apartment. Did not get two sets of towels and when we did get another two towels they were stained and damp and musty and not bath towel size. No light bulb in bathroom mirror light. The oven was dirty so we ate out everyday and only had to use the oven once to heat up something. The fridge freezer was not working properly and our ice creams in the freezer had to be thrown away as they didn't freeze. The shower head was dirty and rusty. The bathroom toilet wall was black with mould. One set of cutlery had no knives so not good if more than 2 people staying. When the weather did warm up we couldn't sit out in the garden as the chairs were rusty and had holes in one of them. The sofa was also musty and neither of the chairs were comfortable. It was disappointing stay and I wished I paid extra money and gone somewhere else. The swimming pool and gym were always kept clean and it was very handy in the wet weather. The garden was much better cared for than the apartment. My mother and I will now need another holiday to get over this holiday. It is sad as the location and leisure facilities were great but not the apartment. So we will not be staying here again nor recommending this apartment which needed a mrs Hinch clean up which requires very little effort to give any one staying a nice experience. We are no way posh or snobbish but just did not expect to find an uncared for place to stay.

Very comfortable holiday apartment.

Ideal base to explore south Devon. Great for families. Apartment and Colmer Estate well equipped to entertain active young boys. We've stayed in various holiday lettings at Colmer and this one most closely meets all our needs.

Enjoyable family holiday

We had a fabulous time at this location myself, wife and 2 children aged 11 and 14 thoroughly enjoyed the heated swimming pools indoor and outdoor and my wife's tennis has improved some what. lovely area, lovely setting and very peaceful Overall a great holiday thank-you

Die Wohnung ist in einer herrlichen Parkanlage gelegen.

Fantastische ruhige Lage in einem wunderschönen, riesigen Park. Leider gab es keine vernünftigen Gartenstühle inkl. Tisch um draussen sitzen zu können. Im kleinen Schlafzimmer riecht es feucht und nach Schimmel. Dort müsste unbedingt etwas gemacht werden. Der Pool für unsere Kinder war toll. Wir hatten trotz allem eine tolle Zeit um Land und Leute kennen zu lernen.

Perfect family holiday rental!

We stayed at Woodside last week and had a wonderful time. The flat had everything we needed and was so lovely and peaceful. The facilities on the estate are fantastic and all of us (family of 4) enjoyed every minute!
