My Geology Field Trip - Cobb Valley, Glacial Valley in South Island, NZ.

The Oparara Basin, tucked into the north west corner of New Zealand's South Island, is a walker's delight, with easy tracks to stunning locations. In this photo at Maria Gate Arch, a riot of colour is caused by the tannins in the water creating a river of yellows, oranges, reds and browns, which contrast with the white rocks and the lush green vegetation. Just stunning.

Kohaihai is a campground at the northern end of the Karamea highway on the west coast of the South Island. From there we enjoyed a two hour (return) hike to Scott's Beach (this shot was from a lookout along the way). We didn't see another soul the entire time!

The Wharariki Beach Holiday Park was the perfect place to base ourselves before exploring the best of the upper parts of the Nelson/Tasman region on our @airnzgrabaseat adventure.
