  • Come experience Makani Moana (Ocean Breeze). Set up on a hill in Lanikai overlooking the Mokulua Islands, this property boasts cool ocean breezes and unmatched views of the turquoise ocean below. Two expansive lanais provide endless opportunities to relax and whale watch, dine alfresco or have a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise.

    Situated at the end of a quiet lane, this property features lush tropical landscaping and ample indoor and outdoor living and dining areas. The ground level has a private outdoor shower with hot and cold water as well as a large, covered lanai, perfect for BBQs and getting those workouts in even when you are on vacation.

    A small set of stairs leads to the main floor of the home. This level features an open floor plan with a living room/kitchen/dining room that look straight out onto the vivid blue water below. Vaulted ceilings and comfortable furnishings make this a relaxing space that you are sure to enjoy. Professional and amateur chefs will have no trouble preparing meals in the bright, spacious and fully stocked kitchen. A media room, half bathroom and guest room with queen bed are also located on this floor.

    Upstairs you will find a primary suite with en suite, private lanai and ocean view, a guest room with queen bed, a guest room with two twin beds and a full bathroom.

    Access to the ocean is a 10 minute walk and Lanikai beach and the popular Lanikai pillbox hike are 5 minutes by car. Kailua town is a short 10 minute drive away and features local shops, restaurants, farmer’s markets and microbreweries.

    Split AC units are located in every bedroom.

Beautiful and Convenient

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed in this home for a month in February 2025. We love this and would be happy to go back. The view is stunning and the property is extremely well designed and well cared for. The people from private homes Hawaii our kind and courteous and cooperative. Wonderful Property - fantastic vacation!

We traveled to Oahu for a wedding. We were a party of 7 (all adults) and this was the perfect house for us. The house: The views from the living area and master bedroom balconies are simply stunning!! The house is very spacious - the kitchen is huge, the bedrooms are large and comfortable with 4 bathrooms. The house was spotless and well equipped with kitchen accessories which made it easy to cook meals on some nights. There is a storage area that has a kayak, as well as an abundance of snorkels, masks, and sand tools. There is also a wonderful outdoor shower area. The location: This house is literally only a 5 minute drive to Lanakai Beach! Go early before all the parking is gone! We actually preferred the 10 minute walk down the hill to the little beach access area there. It was so beautiful and quiet. We even took the kayak down and paddled out to the islands. Management: The owner, Rick, and the manager, Joanie, were a pleasure to deal with. They were responsive and helpful and made our stay so wonderful!!! We are regular VRBO renters and can honestly say that this house has been one of our favorite rentals!

Stay here for the views!

The view from this property is just as pictured. We stayed in February and enjoyed watching the whales out in the ocean,very active in the early am and late afternoon. The walk to the ocean is 5 minutes, and 20 minutes to the Lanikai beach. It is very quiet, and within 1.8 miles of downtown Kailua, which has everything, several local dining options as well as the usual chains, McDonalds and Starbucks. Whole Foods and Foodland for groceries. Candas, the property manager, was great, she met us as we arrived and showed us the ropes.

House with the best view in Lanikai!

Absolutely gorgeous! This was a true "island experience" without sacrificing convenience. Woke up every morning to a beautiful sunrise and watched the full moon rise over the Mokulua Islands! Isolated and very quiet location, but a quick drive to stores and shops in Kailua. A casual 10 minute walk to a very quite beach. The house is clean and well maintained with all the necessary amenities. Bikes, kayak, sand toys, beach chairs, etc. Island hospitality at its best! The house gets a little warm during the day (no A/C), but once the windows are opened, the cool island breeze makes everything perfect. Plenty of space to relax in the house. There were only 5 of us staying, but felt we could have had another extended family stay with us.

The perfect place to be

We really enjoyed the villa. The view on the sea is amazing and the way the house has been built and designed is so well thought. The sizes of the rooms were very spacious. There was a lot of greenery around the house was very nice as we had a feeling of nature all around. Each window has a net, so we could enjoy the nice breeze during the day and the night. The house is just few minutes walk of Lanikai beach which makes it great to go to the beach in the mornings. The neighbourhood is very quiet, clean, peaceful and charming. Actually the reality of the house is nicer than the feeling from the website. So I would really recommend this villa. We would for sure definitely like to come back.

Beautiful views fitting for a beautiful & functional Lanikai house!

Great house with incredible views! The pictures don’t capture the tradewinds, sounds of the beautiful birds singing and the fragrant tropical smells from all the flowering trees! My family of 5 with 3 adult children in their 20’s enjoyed many dinners, drinks and card games on the lanai. Lanikai Beach is beautiful and the kayak provided several trips out to the Mokes! Biked into Kailua for a crepe breakfast...felt right at home! Beds were all comfy, great water pressure in all showers and kitchen and Weber charcoal grill worked perfectly! Thanks for a wonderful home to make our week special!

We loved this property from the moment we opened the door!

Our family of eight was able to spread out and have space of their own. As a group we spent all our time on the upstairs porch - meals, reading and relaxing. The views from every room were spectacular. We appreciated the sports equipment and even made an adventure of hauling the kayak to the beach! The outdoor shower was used often after trips to the beach and one very muddy waterfall hike. Candy accommodated our daughter’s early arrival from Australia. Having 3 full bathrooms made our life easier with two teenagers. Our only problem was the uphill drive but our son mastered it quickly and was able to back the cars up with ease. We hope we get another opportunity to stay there!!!

Fantastic location, view and beautiful home

Our group of 8 family and friends stayed at this lovely home for 12 days. After a long day of travel, arriving at this property and stepping onto the porch, the view made it all worth it! The house was spacious enough to fit all of us easily, beautifully decorated, and everything we needed. The pictures do not do this view justice! It is also very quiet and private. Other reviews mention the steep driveway...which is true, if you have more than a couple of cars that driveway will require shuffling. Other than that...this is an amazing property with a wonderful responsive host. Book it, you won’t regret it!

Great house!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this house and were sad to leave. We traveled with two families and the four bedrooms worked out perfectly for parents and teens. The view from the house is exactly as shown in the pictures, even better really, because of the sounds and breeze. The house is a few blocks from the water with beach access within walking distance. It’s in a very quiet residential neighborhood at the top of the hill on the end of the street, so it’s very private. The teens were very happy with the beach and the WIFI! Security deposit promptly returned to us. Very clean, contemporary decor with beautiful furniture from Asia. We would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful home with the most incredible morning sunrise and views of the Mokuluas islands

An incredible week with the family in this luxurious and spacious home with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean situated on a hilltop overlooking the quaint town of Kailua. A short walk or drive to the most beautiful beach on earth followed by late afternoons relaxing on the grand lanai and terrific dinners. We look forward to renting this first class turn key establishment every year.

Beautiful property!

Everything about this property met and exceeded expectations. The pictures from the ad and property matched and were beautiful The views spectacular, the home was clean, updated, and in great shape. The amenities were as promised and the space was more than adequate for entertaining for a holiday dinner (Thanksgiving). Candy (property manager) was available, proactive and responded quickly when we needed her for a quick second In service on the tv. All bathrooms were completely updated, the linens were higher end (above hotel quality) and the feel of the property was as if you had arrived in a friend's home for a visit. The home gave an upscale island feel without the "pink whale"feel you see in many properties. The art was lovely and the owner's choice of furniture gave the sense of a home well appointed from travels abroad giving the feeling of Raffles in Singapore, and Hemingway coming home. All in all a great experience and a home we would rent again when we return to Hawaii.

Amazing house!

We were a group of 3 adults and 5 kids from 8 to 14 years old. This house was just perfect for us. House was clean, very spacious, incredible view from the main lanai and the master bedroom. We enjoyed many great sunrises over the ocean. It has a great location, good spot to visit most of the island (we did not go north). No A/C was not a problem because of the nice breeze. We would definitely recommend this house to our friends. Thanks Rick!

Such a wonderful and special place!

This is a beautiful home with amazing views of Lanikai Beach. My wife and I stayed with my parents and brother plus his fiancé for the week and it was perfect. The house had plenty of room, was well furnished and had everything we needed for a perfect beach vacation (make sure you take the kayak out to the Mokulua Islands). This is a dream home. Can't wait to return again soon!

Wonderful Home for Family Vacation

All our family (6 adults and 1 baby) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this well appointed home in Lanikai. It is spacious, comfortably furnished, and became our welcome retreat after a busy day. The amazing views from the balconies at any time of day or night had were mesmerizing! The best thing about it was being removed from the hubbub down below at beach level. The shops, restaurants, and amenities in nearby Kailua served all our needs. We were greeted by Candas, who gave prompt, cheerful and helpful attention to our questions. Beautiful Home!

We just spent six days at this lovely home. We are a family of four, two adults and two daughter's ages 8 and 11. We could all have some space. We live on the Big Island in Hawaii in a rural setting and wanted a change of pace. We got it! This home offers so much. The views are spectacular. It is an easy and gentle five minute walk to the beach. The neighbor brought us mangoes. The area is quiet. The restaurants are wonderful. Honolulu is 30 minutes away if you need a bit of "The City". We would like to come back. The price is not much different than two hotel rooms. Need I say more.

We had a great experience

We recently stayed at this property May 13th through the 21st. The home is absolutely beautiful and a pleasant walk to the beach. Great location at the end of the street and very private. Close to a public ocean front beach park and a great local restaurant, Buzz's. The management was great and easy to work with and Candy was very helpful upon our arrival and throughout the trip. I would stay at this property again. Note, after traveling all over the island I was very glad we stayed in this house on the Windward Coast. Best side of the island.

Amazing views, beautiful home!

One of the best family vacations we have ever had. The house is beautiful and well stocked. The views are amazing. Only issue we had was getting in and out of the driveway. It's very steep and narrow. We were traveling with our senior parents and the driveway and stairs were our only issues- and those were minor. We are already talking about coming back and we will definitely rent this place. Candy is super sweet and very helpful. Thank you for opening your home up to travelers and visitors-and for sharing your treasure!

Picturesque - a slice of heaven!

This is just a perfect place for a holiday with family or friends! The home is situated in an unbelievably beautiful setting. The views you see in the photo are authentic. We could have stayed on the front deck all day long and never tired of the scenery. We were vacationing with our 20-something children and we all had a fabulous time. The home itself is lovely and very well equipped (although grill is a bit tired). The furnishings are so nice and comfortable and everyone had plenty of space to be together or to have private time. The beach is gorgeous and we had no problem making the walk everyday. We used the kayak, snorkel gear and bicycles - all worked great. Drove to a couple of restaurants close by and hiked up the nearby hills for even more gorgeous views. Wifi was great also and very convenient. This is a beautiful part of the island and there couldn't be a better spot to relax and enjoy the scenery than this unbelievable home. Rick was terrific to deal with in every regard. Highly recommend!!!

Excellent stay overall, the house is everything that previous reviewers described. The one surprise for us was that you have to drive to the beach. There is a water access within walking distance, but no real beach. You will need a car to get to the remaining strip of Lanikai beach, or to the Kailua.

Beautiful area, wonderful time

This holiday was a celebration of two birthdays. We decided to meet half way, as family flew in from mid America. The house was just perfect and not one person was disappointed with our choice. It is a quality home and well stocked. We spent most of our time on the balcony looking at the spectacular views. Candy, the property mgr was very helpful as we had a few issues with the kayak and bike. The beach is close so some people walked and some bicycled. We spent hours on the beach and had fun kayaking. Kailua is close enough to ride into town on the bicycles. We shopped at Whole Foods in Kailua and had several BBQs. Would highly recommend a dinner at Buzz's steak house. This was truly a memorable birthday celebration and we would love to come back again.

Birthday celebration

We brought our mother to this beautiful home to celebrate her 90th birthday. Being her first trip to Hawaii we wanted her to have a truly memorable experience. Wow! This house is amazing and she did There is glass looking out to the blue ocean and islands from the kitchen all the way across the living room. The upstairs bedroom has the same great view with a deck. The kitchen is very well appointed and spacious. There is a TV room (though with the view we rarely turned it on), inside and outside dining tables, a game table and outside couch facing the ocean. A kayak and snorkeling gear was well appreciated as the beaches are so close. We hiked the "pillbox" hiking trail that runs above the house. There is so much to do in this area we couldn't do it all. This house is located at the end of the road so there is no traffic. We loved it and highly recommend it!

Beautiful Lanikai vacation home with awesome views!

Everything was perfect during our time here in Lanikai! This house is amazing - it has everything we could wish for in a vacation rental and then some. The beach is beautiful - we kayaked, snorkeled, walked on the beach, hiked the pillbox trail, and ate practically every meal on the deck. My husband walked around all week saying "it's really nice here!". Candy, the property manager, was very helpful as well. We'll definitely be back!
