    Located in Kendal, often referred to as the "Gateway to the Lakes," this cottage provides easy access to a plethora of outdoor activities and attractions. Enjoy scenic walks and hikes in the stunning Lake District, with numerous trails and paths suitable for all levels of experience. Kendal itself offers a wealth of cultural and historical sites, including Kendal Castle and the renowned Kendal Museum.



    The charming cottage comfortably accommodates up to four guests, making it an ideal choice for families or small groups. It offers the perfect blend of convenience and tranquillity for your getaway. Enjoy a restful night after a day out exploring in one double bedroom with a second twin room located on the first floor. The main bathroom features a separate bath, shower, and WC, plus an additional ground floor WC for added convenience.

Courtyard Cottage was a wonderful place to stay in a very peaceful surrounding and beautiful scenery. We were warmly welcomed by lovely hosts who were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage is thoughtfully designed and very cosy. Would come again!

Courtyard Cottage is excellently situated for exploring the coastline to the north and west of Barns

Courtyard Cottage is excellently situated for exploring the coastline to the north and west of Barnstaple (top surfing spots and the SWC path are 30 minutes away) as well as visiting RHS Rosemore (30 minutes to the south) and Exmoor. With fine views, lovely surrounding countryside, and peace and quiet it is a perfect retreat from the coastal hotspots. The cottage's lower courtyard patio gives excellent privacy with natural shade from the surrounding trees. Being near the top of a hill there was also a pleasant breeze during a mini heatwave. Evening sundowners on the top patio were an added bonus. Mika and Mark, the owners, were attentive without being obtrusive. They were friendly and informative about the local area. The interior of the cottage is beautiful and extremely well insulated from both cold and hot weather. The standard of facilities and comfort of the beds is superb. The ability to rinse and dry wetsuits in the courtyard, and a garage to store gear is very useful. The outside spaces are beautifully maintained. Very highly recommended.

Courtyard Cottage is a beautiful place to stay. The cottage has been lovingly renovated and decorated and is incredibly comfortable in beautiful surroundings. The owners are very welcoming and accommodating. A lovely welcome pack is left for you. Everything about this stay has been well thought through - a beautiful home from home.

Wonderful

Courtyard Cottage has everything one would need. It is equipped to a very high standard and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The hosts, Mika and Mark, are very helpful and go out of their way to provide any extra information that you should need. We would definitely stay there again if we are in the area. Overall excellent and definitely recommended.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings

We stayed for a week in this lovely cottage. The kitchen was amazing and had everything you could possibly need. It was light and airy and spotlessly clean. It was very centrally placed for visiting all North Devon has to offer without travelling too far. The owners live next door and were very welcoming, kind and helpful, especially with suggestions of places to visit and eat. We would love to stay again one day.

I would definitely stay here again, we absolutely loved our holiday here and didn't want to leave. Beautifully arranged and decorated cottage in a great location. Breakfast every morning on the terrace outside the main bedroom enjoying the early morning sun, and drinks and dinner on the terrace to the side of the cottage watching the sun go down. Perfect! Thank you to Mika and Mark for being so welcoming, friendly and helpful and for creating such a wonderful place to stay

Courtyard Cottage Barnstaple

We spent a week at the Courtyard Cottage, we were very impressed at the very high standard of accommodation. Well situated above the town of Barnstaple with stunning views of the North Devon Countryside, it was within easy reach of the coastal resorts (15-20 minutes by car) Mika and Mark were both welcoming and very helpful, full of information about North Devon, they were always on hand but never intrusive. This is a little Gem situated in North Devon and we will definitely be back,

Truly superb! Modern, comfortable and a home from home. Mark & Mika we’re excellent and always attentive making the stay perfect. The location itself has tremendous views and is very central to Barnstaple. 15 -20 minutes from most family beachesdays out. Especially ideal as you are able to easily reach in all directions for days out. Very strongly recommend if you’re looking to have the ideal location and a lovely, relaxing place to stay.

Lovely cottage

We've just got back from another wonderful week at Courtyard Cottage. The location is great, it really feels like you are in the countryside, but the town is 5 mins away. We spent several days at the sandy beaches (only 20 min car journey) that are perfect for body boarding and surfing, enjoyed sea kayaking and loved the coastal walks and views. The cottage has everything you need and to a high spec, making it feel luxurious. The owners are attentive, the welcome pack was delicious, and our children loved seeing their dogs and eating Smores by the firepit one evening. Overall a fantastic stay, we'd definitely go back again, there's still more to explore!

Fantastic week in stunning cottage

We stayed in Courtyard Cottage in August 2021. The cottage is beautifully appointed and everything you need has been thought of. The rooms are generous sizes and the cottage feels spacious and modern - whilst at the same time feeling full of character and interesting features. The location is perfect for local interest - with lots of different beaches nearby plus the beautiful landscape of Exmoor. We were able to do very different things each day and kept teenagers and adults thoroughly entertained. We hope to return again - and Mark and Mika were fantastic hosts offering help and advice if needed.

Beautifully equipped cottage in peaceful location.

Probably the best of all the cottages we have stayed in - beautifully decorated, equipped with everything that you could want, spotlessly clean and with owners that are around if you need them but invisible when you want privacy. The location is the ultimate in peaceful places, set at the end of a long private drive surrounded by fields and trees. No traffic noise just the bird songs to disturb the peace and yet you can be in the centre of Barnstable within 10 minutes by car. The cottage comes with the best sun-trap patio anywhere - just the place to sit with a long cool drink and soak up the sun and the peace and quiet. It's the sort of place that once discovered entices you back again and again.

Great for relaxing holidays, very hospitable owners

Recently renovated cottage with great attention to detail that lacks nothing. Everything is very modern, but comfortably furnished. Very quiet location (approach, however, is in quite poor condition with many potholes), perfectly situated for trips into the North Devon area. Several seating areas outside, which invite you to relax (with a little luck with a view of sheep). The couple who rents the house is very hospitable, we have rarely been received warmer than by the two. Mark always has good excursion tips ready. After our two weeks stay it was really hard for us to have to leave again.

Fantastic hosts

Our needs for this property wasn't for a holiday unfortunately, however mika and Mark were extremely kind helpful and very accommodating for our situation. The views from the property are great and there are multiple areas for seating to have a drink and something to eat. The accommodation is only a short drive from various towns and seasides. The property is highly recommended its comfortable warm and very well equipped the underfloor heating is great and the log fire a bonus. I'll be back again for a visit under different circumstances without a doubt. Thankyou mika and Mark.

Beautiful Cottage and Location

We stayed for one week in May 2022 and we could not have wished for more. The owners, Mika and Mark were on site to meet us and show us around and they made us feel very welcome. They recommended great places to visit in the area and we went to most of them. The accommodation was lovely with a large double bedroom opening onto a private patio area and a separate room with two single beds. Everythings was clean and tidy. The cottage is up a fairly steep single track lane but not for long then you reach your destination which is just outside Barnstaple. The surrounding gardens are lovely and there are views over Barnstaple to the estuary. We recommend this lovely cottage without hesitation and hope to return soon.

On arrival at Courtyard Cottage we were met by Mika and Mark who were great hosts providing many thoughtful touches making it an extra special stay. Prior to our arrival Mika provided us with a very comprehensive guide to the cottage and surrounding area. Thank you also Mika for the freshly made scones which were delicious and part of a lovely welcome pack and Mark for his enthusiasm and advice. Courtyard Cottage and it’s location were absolutely stunning. The cottage was extremely well equipped with modern appliances and a high quality finish throughout. The surrounding garden is divided into three patio areas with our favourite being the top terrace with its sunset views. A wonderful cottage, location and great hosts. Thank you for a fabulous holiday.

Second Stay This Year

My daughter and I stayed in Courtyard Cottage earlier this year and I went back for a second stay on my own. I recommend this lovely cottage to anyone seeking peace and quiet with top class accommodation. There is a private patio area and a choice of private seating areas outside and you feel as if you are out in the country yet you are only a short drive into Barnstaple. This is a lovely part of Devon to stay as there is something for everyone including a great choice of country houses and gardens, huge beacheslittle bays and harbours. Mika and Mark are very welcoming and offer adviceassistance if needed. I really appreciated the scones with clotted cream and local jam, just what I needed after a long journey. Thank you for another lovely holiday - I would give you 10 stars if I could.

We spent a delightful week in this stunning property, which has been so beautifully designed and furnished to an incredibly high standard. The owners live on site and were keen to check we had everything we needed as well as providing some helpful local advice. We had good communication with them from the moment our cottage was booked. Self catering cottages are our regular choice of UK holidays and this has to be in our top 3 places. Gorgeous inside and out with attention to detail everywhere. There is nothing we could even suggest that could have been changedadded. The location is ideal for wonderful coast, gardens and National trust properties. Our idea of heaven. Thank you Mika and Mark for having us.
