Skiddaw Skies - an apartment that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

  • Skiddaw Skies is situated in a quiet no through road in the heart of Keswick, an ideal location for easy access to local amenities, Fitz Park and the beautiful Lake Derwentwater, yet tucked away from any passing traffic or passers-by. This beautiful apartment is the upper floors of a lovely Victorian property, accessed by a flight of steps, and its elevated position provides fabulous panoramic views across the fells from all windows.

    The lounge is spacious, light and comfortable, with two settees, dining table and chairs, internet enabled Smart TV with integrated DVD, CD player and large windows looking across Keswick towards Catbells and the north western fells. This room has an open fire for cosy winter evenings and books and maps on the local area are provided.

    The modern fitted kitchen is situated next to the lounge and is well equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave and a breakfast bar with great Latrigg views.

    The luxurious main bathroom is fitted to a high standard, with a large shower, roll-top bath, wash basin and WC.

    On the middle floor, there are two adjacent bedrooms. The large double bedroom has oak furniture providing plenty of storage space, a flat-screen TV and a super-king sized bed from which the fantastic fell views can be admired. This room has an ensuite bathroom with a shower, wash basin and WC.

    The second bedroom has twin beds, oak furniture and views towards Skiddaw.

    The top loft floor of Skiddaw Skies has been recently converted to a third bedroom with twin beds, oak furniture and ensuite WC with basin. The two large velux windows on either side of this room provide amazing views of both Skiddaw and the north western fells. All bedrooms are dressed in luxury linens and towels.

    There is a superb roof terrace with furniture which is the perfect place to sit and take in the wonderful scenery over a sunny breakfast or on summer evenings. A private parking space for one car is allocated just opposite the property.

    Skiddaw Skies is suitable for bookings with one small dog.

    Please note the property has a number of flights of stairs so may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues.

    Reduced occupancy may be available for this property if only one or two bedrooms are required. Please contact the office to enquire.

A working trip with clients.

Great location. Super property. Enjoyed by my clients. Amazing views. Photos do not do it justice. XC60 car to park. Its tight, but it's parking which is tough in Keswick. If you've anything bigger it would be hard. Everything else spot on. Would stay again.

Perfect accomodation, perfect location! Couldn't have asked for more!

We stayed in Skiddaw Skies and the downstairs property The Ridgeway as a party of 10 ladies celebrating my 50th birthday! The accomodation was spot on for what we were looking for being perfectly located for the town centre but also walking distance to the lake! The property was well fitted out with everything needed including a fabulous coffee machine which luckily used the same coffee pods as my own machine back home! The bed linen and towels were of superb quality, which all added to the homely feel! We would totally recommend this property and are now hoping to make this trip an annual event going forward! Can't wait to come back!

Last week in November

Lovely stay as always . Excellent views ,central position ,kitchen well equipped with all you need for yoir stay . Lovely roll top bath for long soaks after hilltop walks . Huge comfy bed in main ensuite bedroom . This is our 6th or 7th stay . We will be back . Thankyou Keswick cottages .

We had a wet weekend stay with our 5 year old daughter

Despite the weather we had a lovely stay at Skiddaw skies. The apartment was beautiful, clean, well equipped and in a great location. My daughter loved the selection of toys and games to explore. We couldn’t have asked for more.

I have just enjoyed a weekend stay at this property with my brother and parents. It's very spacious and more than enough room for 4 adults and a dog. The location is ideal, just a very short walk from the main street. There are a lot of stairs but this was not a problem for us.

Wonderful property

Our first stay at Skiddaw Skies and we had a wonderful few days. A lovely property in a great location in town and amazing views of the surrounding fells. There's loads of space at the entrance for coats and shoes and a warm cosy feel to the place. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and the welcome packs for us and the dog were a nice touch. Beds were comfy and the showers good. We were lucky with the weather so got some good walking done but there's masses of books, games, dvds etc provided for rainy days or for those who just want to chill. It's worth being aware that the allocated parking space is a little tight so if you have a big vehicle it might be a struggle, and also to mention if you have mobility issues this property isn't for you as there's A LOT of stairs!

3rd stay and still perfect

We're recently back from our 3rd stay at Skiddaw Skies and just love it. We tried a different time of the year in the hope of better weather (than in the Autumn) and no such luck! Still, we had a fantastic time. The accommodation suits us perfectly as it's so conveniently located for buses and shops and local walk possibilities from the door. Plus it's so comfortable. It has the added bonus of plentiful books and maps to browse through and many puzzles and games if the weather really turns. And of course, the wonderful views, which really help with walk planning as you can see what the weather is doing. The many stairs are not an issue for us - the hardest ones are on the outside of the property and could be tricky in ice, but there is a handrail. I also like dealing with a local office. We'll be back!

Welcoming & comfortable with great views.

It is a lovely property and some of the views from inside were spectacular. We found that it was kept to a very high standard and was very welcoming. Anyway, all in all, we have all had a very pleasant experience. The common shower is INTENSE! Loved it.

September Birthday Get away

Skiddaw Skies is a lovely property . The views are amazing .The seating balcony out back is a must on a sunny day . The deep roll top bath is wonderful after long walks especially on wet days . The property has everything you need . Fridge freezer oven microwave and the welcome pack of tea coffee etc is lovely when you first arrive .The master bedroom has a very comfy huge bed .

Superb!

If I was mean, I’d try to put you off so we can book Skiddaw Skies anytime we like! We’ve been several times before and we love it. The views are spectacular and the accommodation is comfortable. Lots of steps to keep you fit, but great location for enjoying Keswick and surrounding areas. This time, we didn’t move the car once we had parked it in its off road designated spot. Superb!

Comfort with Views

We had an excellent week at Skiddaw Skies and the views did not disappoint. How great to be able to wash-up and see the fells at the same time. The apartment was warm, cosy and comfortable with plenty of books, games and DVDs and the central location was great for the shops and bus stops (we did not bring the car). We particularly loved the large map in the kitchen so we could plan our walks. The only improvement would be to have a pyrex casserole or two, with lids, for re-heating food.

Another amazing week

This is our 3rd stay in Skiddaw Skies and we love it more each time. The weather wasn't ideal (unusually high winds all week making it difficult to walk or even stand up above 1,000 ft on most days), but after mornings out spending the afternoons looking out at the ever changing weather made up for this. The cottage is cosy, the location great to pop out to the supermarket and having the parking space just outside brilliant. It is on the pricy side compared to other places (particularly when there are only 2 of you), but the benefits you get make it worth every penny.

What views

Booked for a week as our usual choice was taken. We are so pleased we tried this wonderful house. It is well stocked for self catering, has a large kitchen with breakfast bar with wonderful views over Latrigg. A very warm and comfortable house, a home from home. The bathroom is very large and spacious with a lovely large tub and shower. The sitting room is equipped with books, games and DVD’s along with fantastic views over Catbells, Causy pike and Scar crags and on a clear day you can see for miles. Good communication from Keswick cottages regarding arrival and departure. A very comfortable stay.

Just wonderful!

This is the the 5th time I’ve stayed at Skiddaw Skies (plus one stay in Ridgeways, the flat below)…. So that really says it all. It’s perfect in every way! From the gorgeous bathroom to the wonderful terrace. The kitchen is a ‘cooks kitchen’….weighing scales, casserole dishes, plenty of baking trays, measuring jugs etc. As a family we prefer to eat in, and the property has everything you need including ample crockery and glasses so that the dishwasher doesn’t need to be on every verse end! The only thing that I would consider to be an improvement would be the inclusion of an air fryer- but by no means a deal breaker!

What a stunning property in a fantastic location. The property is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a week or so away. The balcony at the rear is a massive bonus and we used it a lot, both in the morning and evening, with views across Latrigg and Skiddaw. In fact there are views from the front across to Catbells due to its elevated position. The only point you need to be aware of is the steps, there are a number of stairs to and in the property but as long as you are able this shouldn’t be a problem and the quality of the property far outweighs this. We have already booked again for next year!

Excellent holiday accommodation

The location and views were outstanding. The property was maintained and cleaned to a high standard. We very much enjoyed the decor, ambiance and beautiful paintings and photographs throughout the property. We were extremely comfortable throughout our stay. There are 6 levels: the ground level entrance hall, family bathroom, kitchen and living room, roof terrace, two bedrooms and the top small bedroom with spectacular views. Each level separated by a small flight of stairs. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and the living room had many quality books and games for all ages. The roof terrace was excellent for breakfast, and drinks and relaxation day and evening. The property provided us with a unique and very enjoyable holiday experience

Amazing views and location

We had a fantastic sunny week at Skiddaw Skies. The terrace gave almost 360 degree views of the surrounding fells and was a wonderful place to eat and drink al fresco at all times of the day. Furthermore, the views from nearly every window were stunning. The set up of two twin bed rooms was a real plus and meant our children could each bring a friend with them on holiday. It was really well equipped, and the tea, coffee and biscuits welcome pack was a lovely touch. Cleaning equipment and products were also available which is good. The bright raspberry pink living room walls were a real statement! Wall to wall carpets on the stairs may have presented a vacuuming challenge due to the dog hair, but I highly recommend this property.

An Early 2024 Break in Keswick

Skiddaw Skies is a large and comfortable property situated in an ideal position for access to the town while giving spectacular views of the fells around Keswick. Our stay was perfect, communications were good and the accommodation was actually better than the online images. Close to town but quiet and very comfortable. Nicely updated to include a lovely main bathroom, a modern kitchen and bedrooms thoughtfully equipped with nice bedding and pillows you can actually sleep on. En suite to the two rooms we used, again well appointed, although if you're taller than average you may need to watch your head in them. There's a handy decked balcony with table and chairs to the rear, a little slippy give the time of year and decking but not dangerously so and a large selection of games and DVDs for those Lakes days that test your outdoor gear. There are a lot of steps if you have mobility issues, but we didn't find that a problem. This is a great place to stay and could easily have been spacious enough for more than our small group.
