Property was centrally located near many restaurants, vacation attractions, and the beach. Wish the weather had been nicer. Otherwise very comfortable for up to 12 people.

Great location, great amenities, perfect for multiple families

Check in was easy. We loved the pool and hot tub. Having access to the beach was wonderful. There was plenty of space for our three families.

Glorious location

The pictures are completely accurate! The pool and hot tub are amazing! The new decking all around, and to the beach is perfect. This property has it all! Beautiful views from the main floor, plenty of room, great kitchen open to the family room area. We had zero rain our week, so indoor fun wasn’t really needed, but it was so nice to have available just in case. We briefly used the pool table, but did use the downstairs fridge for our drinks and food to cook on the grill, spending loads of time at the pool, and walking to the beach.

Great Vacation for Our Entire Family of 14

Property was in a great location; it was very close to restaurants and shops. Our family loved being beach front, and we enjoyed the pool, hot tube and pool table. Everything was clean, and everyone had enough room to have time alone if desired. Although the property was being sold the day after we got there, Beth, now the former owner, went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of, and there were not problems with the transition.

Just what we were looking for

Enough rooms and beds to accommodate everyone comfortably. The decking around the pool was a little weathered causing a couple splinters, but manageable with shoes. Views from upper decks were great watching the sunrise with no obstructions. The dryer needed to be watched, maybe the timer was bad. But it dried the clothes that were washed fine. Plenty of seating for games and family meals on the upper floor. There was a lot of foot traffic on the south side of the property being right next to the public access point, not really a problem when using the pool or the hot tub with the privacy fence. Overall a good place to rent.

Property needs some attention

Location is good just not good upkeep. Nails coming up on deck and stairs, hole in deck covered with umbrella stand, mold on windows seals on 3rd floor, stairs and path to beach overgrown, hole in cupboard near floor across from fridge, very dirty air vents in ceiling, outdoor showers need fixed, window in upstairs bedroom has holes and taped in the accordion enclosure, molding is loose where living room transitions to dining.

Great ocean & neighborhood, run down home & property

Bugs & ants in kitchen, shower curtains mold covered, musty smell from old musty carpets, blinds breaking or falling apart, 2 locks not working, 1 kitchen cabinet didn’t work, outside property totally not maintained, deck railing very much risky, pool steps need a railing, steps and bridge to the beach in similar condition as the house decks, over the bridge the pathway to the beach was completely overgrown and needs to be at least cutback. Nails popping up on the different decks.

Great Stay!!

This is an older cottage, but it has been updated in many areas. It is located in the middle of all the activity, so if you are looking for a slow paced and secluded vacation, this is not for you. You can walk to get great pizza and homemade ice cream. There's a hardware/variety store right across the street. The description of the bathrooms in relation to the bedrooms could have made choosing our individual rooms easier, but it all worked out. I was pleasantly surprised at the great ocean views and the pool is large and very clean. Beth even gave us some shopping tips. We had a great time!

Great stay for friends and families!

This is a great property! We were worried from previous reviews from summer 2020, but the cleanliness was great. The owner also had a new vacuum already. No issues. Agree there are some items needing updating, but the house itself, layout, location and view were great. Owner was super responsive! Would recommend!

Wonderfully Located

The location of the property was wonderful! Our family of 20 had a fantastic experience. The pool and hot tub were so nice + the outdoor showers too. Be prepared to bring/buy all of your own things - sheets, towels, blankets, trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, spices/oil for cooking, etc. Beth was very kind and accommodating. Thanks for a great family vacation!

Perfect location and lots of space.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. For 17 of us there was plenty of space and being on the beach was incredible. We spent most days in the pool or beach but when we did have one day of bad weather we were all very comfortable sharing the living space. The pictures of the common living area do not do it justice. We were surprised with the amount of space for our group to all be together. The owner was very responsive to questions prior, and while we did not have issues during our stay, she did offer her cell phone if we needed her. There are a couple small things that could be upgraded like a new vacuum, but all were small things that did not impact our stay. We were also the first guests of the season so it may be these things will be upgraded once the owner is made aware. Ample parking was accurate - we had 7 cars and no issues parking all and getting in and out easily. We really liked this property and would absolutely stay here again!

Great Oceanfront Stay

We had a wonderful time staying at Beth's house. You cannot beat the location, right on the water. The pool and hot tub were fantastic, incredibly clean and someone even came halfway through the week to clean and check everything. The layout of the rooms and bathrooms was great, we really appreciated having so many rooms with ensuite bathrooms. The walls and floors were insulated well so that when the noises of children playing on one floor didn't really disturb people on the other floor. The entire house was extremely kid friendly and we especially appreciated the doors on the staircases so the 1.5 year old could run around without us having to worry about him going down the stairs. We found the house pretty clean overall. No problems like some of the previous reviews stated. The only things that we noticed were just end of the beach season typical things for any house that has been rented out all summer, such as dingy mattress pads. We just popped them into the washing machine before making up our beds (we would have done that anyways since it is the middle of a pandemic, we also brought all our own pillows and blankets due to covid). Beth was wonderful and responded immediately to messages. She even had some replacement balls for the pool table shipped for us after the previous renters mentioned some were missing. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

A lot of potential.

Beth was great up front. But when we arrived and found issues there was no response. House was filthy, garbage around pool. Mice droppings in kitchen and mice visibly running about house. Pool furniture broken, pool light not working, towel bars hanging off walls. Really disappointing. Beautiful home lots of space great location but would not stay again. Had to clean for hours before we would let kids inside. With covid you should not be removing actual grime but we were. Had to buy sheets to cover visibly soiled furniture and literally wipe food and debris off walls. Needs to be cleaned and broken items repaired. Such a shame

Mice, Mold, and Cockroaches

This house has an amazing location and view - it’s right on the beach and close to all the major stores. The house itself, though, was filthy and literally falling apart in many places. We were unable to use several of the bed pillows because they were covered in yellow stains, and two of them had blood on them. Several guests spotted mice in the kitchen/family room area; one bedroom closet and under the kitchen sink were covered in mouse droppings. We then found two cockroaches in the kitchen. We immediately called the owner who reimbursed us for the new pillows we had to buy. She wasn’t able to send an exterminator for two days though, so we lived with the mice and cockroaches until then. We also reached out to the owner because the ceiling in the upstairs bathroom was falling down because of water damage, which had been there a long time and it looked like someone had tried to spay it as a form of mold remediation. The deck is in complete disrepair, to the point where we didn’t feel comfortable having the children on it. Rusty nails and planks were sticking up all over the place and the railings moved significantly and easily when you held them. Two guests cut their feet on the rusty nails. The owner sent a handy man to try to nail down some of the most damaged boards on the deck. He also nailed a board to the ceiling in the upstairs bathroom to keep the ceiling from falling. He said there was damage to the roof that caused a big leak. Additionally, every single window in the home was covered with mold and the wooden frames were shredded and falling apart. The handyman confirmed it was mold, but said there was nothing that could be done. The air vents also had black spots on them, suggesting mold. It rained one night we were there and water was dripping down the family room wall and ceiling. Lastly, the couch in the family room was covered in stains upon our arrival, making us feel uncomfortable sitting on it.

Pray for sun

If you’re willing to overlook many, many issues because you have great beach access, this is the place for you. Pro’s: ON THE BEACH, pool, hot tub, ocean views, beds were comfortable, spaciousness of 3rd floor common area. Con’s: not particularly clean, white couches are very stained, water damage and active leaks in 3rd fl bath and family room, no screens in windows, pillows are stained, nails sticking out of the deck and loose railings, poor outside lighting, yard not taken care of and grill was barely usable. You can have a great time here but buyer beware.

Great location...oceanview/beachfront

Our group of 16 really enjoyed staying here. It's in a good location near the main area of Kill Devil Hill and right near Nags Head and Kitty Hawk. Very nice sized pool and jacuzzi. Plenty of seating on main floor and well stocked kitchen. Loved using the outdoor shower! The bed on main floor was comfortable and good sized room. The rooms on 2nd floor were ok. The best ones were the oceanview ones that had queen size beds. The interior queen bedroom and the bunk rooms were pretty small. For our 8 preteens and teens, it was tight with little room to get around. They made it work. The bathrooms were fine. Some updating would be nice. The washer and dryer worked out well being on the same floor as the bedrooms. We noticed some reinforcement was done on the upper deck railing. needs to probably be done again at some point. The house could use some minor updating. But everything functioned, which was key. A/C worked very well!!! The basement rec room was smaller than expected and didn't have any comfortable seating for kids to hang out. Small tv, but the younger kids didn't seem to mind. The foosball table would have been better down there as supposed to the main living space, but we see why it was there. The linen service didn't pick up bags from previous renters for 2-3 days. We had to call the company so they would pick up the bags. Overall, we had a great time and nice experience. The fact we could wake up every morning and see the ocean, sunrise was wonderful. We would come back next time we visit OBX. Pros: location, beachfront, main floor seating, top deck views, outdoor showers, 2nd refrigerator, private access to beach, well stocked kitchen, large main floor with plenty of seating Cons: no pantry for food/snacks, outdated bathrooms and bed covers, inner bedrooms small, linens not provided (disclosed by owner), Basement rec area smaller than expected/no sofa or chairs aside from high stool chairs

Great view, horrible beds

Upstairs living area is great, but the bunk beds are extremely uncomfortable. The queen beds are better but freezing in the room( we were there April) wish they would update the mattress in all the bunk beds

Great location

The house was nice inside! Not fond of the bunk rooms but we made it work. Deck needs some repair and windows. Loved the pool and hot tub. Beautiful view of the ocean. Would rent again

Great house right on the beach

The house was exactly as described. The location was right on the beach next to a public beach access, but we had no issues with the beach being too crowded even though it was mid July. It was also close to good restaurants and shopping. The house, pool and hot tub were all very clean and the kitchen was stocked incredibly well. They had tons of dishes, silverware, pots and pans, baking and serving dishes, 2 coffee makers, a blender, and a crock pot. Also the bedding was very nice and very good quality. We would definitely consider this home for future vacations.

House had everything you would want for a vacation

Very convenient house for a beach vacation. Loved the direct access to the beach and the pool and hot tub were a wonderful treat after a long day at the beach. Having the washer and dryer on the same floor as the bedrooms was very convenient. Kitchen was well stocked and nicely laid out. Loved that everything was matching! Great house!

Great Place, and Great Location

Easy Parking for 4 cars, can fit 6 with occasional shuffle, and probably 10 if a few can remain unmoved. No problem gaining access. Easy dune crossing. Pool is super...water is clean and warm (August, not heater). Plenty of lounges and deck chairs. Large table on pool deck can seat 10. Air Conditioner worked great...balanced well on all 3 floors...set at 73* and never touched it all week. Ceiling fans everywhere. Refrigerator in top floor kitchen and another in 1st floor game room allowed for plenty of food & easy beverage access. Kitchen is well stocked with appliances, tools, utensils, glassware, flatware, dishes...even a bagel slicer. Large dining table accommodated 10 easily...probably more if needed (but we only had 10). Many games, toys, puzzles, DVDs, books, Bath towels are supplied, but bring your own Beach towels, Hand towels, and wash rags. Water pressure and water heater were fine. TV and 'input' devices were also fine, but we had a couple of techies (I would have struggled on my own.) Plenty of deck space...all 3 floors...front and back.
