This house is advertised as a 5 bedroom house with a "bonus room". It is in fact a 4 bedroom house with 2 pullout couches and neither room with a pullout couch offers any sort of privacy such as a door to close, which a normal bedroom would offer. The first day the hot water was out after a single occupant showered. It took 2 hours and MANY calls to get someone to address this. We were informed the hot water was working as intended but that the house only has a 30 gallon tank and we would need to space out showering. Completely inadequate for a house advertised to sleep 11 occupants. This house is not ready for guests. The fit and finish on the house is very lacking with a dated interior and there was construction going on outside every day we stayed there. Upon returning to the house we always found different equipment left laying around outside on the back patio and deck ranging from ladders, scaffolding, and a pressure washer, along with a host of dirty cigarette butts littered around the exterior from the workers. The hot tub was left completely off and with no instructions for use. The starting temperature was 60 degrees so that it would have taken hours to heat before using and the pool table needs leveling before use. The icing on the cake was the final day the host mixed up the move out dates and changed the codes to the house. This took another half hour on the phone with management to get sorted out. I would never stay here again!

We had initial issues with the access code that was resolved after speaking with the online service. The worst issue we had was no hot water to take showers which is a basic service to be provided. We initially had hot water for one 8 minute shower then no hot water. We were told by owner we had to wait 30 minutes between showers...However, after the second shower waited 30 minutes there was no hot water after the shower. The worst came on Thursday night when we had NO HOT WATER... The Hot water issue was not fixed till Saturday the day before we left. This was totally unacceptable and I am expecting a refund due to the minimum service wasn't even provided to make the stay even tolerable.

We had a FAMILY get together ages 70's thru 3 yo. This HOME was PERFECT, everyone thought it was Beautiful. The house, the view, the Lake, the yard, the location. We rented a boat for one day. We just had a WONDERFUL Family time. Also went on Airboat Ride. Thanks for sharing your home. We hope to come back.

Some House Quarks But Beautiful Lake Views

-Pros: Beautiful Lake, big house, Publix across the street, Hot tub clean/warm, & House is well stocked with linens and starter products. -Cons: No hot water in Master Bath shower, loose handle in guest bathroom shower, ice dispenser on refrigerator makes ice but won’t dispense, upper deck leaks on lower house deck so all gets wet below, hurricane type shades on upper deck with metal bars & easy to hit head on. Caught my head & then screw grabbed my hair and I got stuck on it, painted upper deck & stairs very slippery when wet, MIL almost fell, uneven dock floor deck (hubby broke his toe on it), & unknown smell in garage apartment kinda like gas. —There are several cameras on the outside of this property. Makes you feel safe but also watched. One is right next to the hot tub and kept lighting up & moving all the time. Did not feel private. We did have an issue while there. Property manager called my cell phone to report our nephews were engaging in what they felt was unsafe behavior caught on camera. We worked it out & my nephew’s were disciplined immediately and there were no more incidents. We were appreciative to have this information & understand boys will be boys, lesson learned.—Be prepared to sign a 10 page contract when staying with Val Gals. You’ll be relinquishing all your rights. Never done this for a VRBO before. To be fair, we didn’t bring any of these house issue up to management while there. Wanted to make the best of our trip. Maintenance can come after.

Lake Placid family trip

Everything was clean and comfortable. There was a beautiful view overlooking the lake. The location was perfect being near all the important stores and a quick drive to see all the murals. Thanks for hosting us!

July 20th weekend

I booked this home since we know so many people around Lake Placid. It was a surprise Retirement party for my boyfriend. This home is perfect for entertaining and also the peacefulness of being on the Lake.

Summer Lake Trip

Diane was great and the house worked perfectly for our llarge fanily and friends group. We have been going to lake clay twice a year for 20+ years to ski amd tube and this location was great for us. The house is very clean, updated and furnished very nicely. Master bedroom view was amazing and the automatic roll down blackout shades were a nice touch. Game room was a hit with everyone. Kitchen was great with everything you would need to cook and entertain and the house is located right across the street from publix, restaurants and pretty much anything else you might need. We enjoyed our stay and will be back next summer.

Lakeside Beauty

Communication with the property manager was Awesome! Diane was very responsive to messages. The home was Awesome! Lake Placid is my hometown so I know how the Bugs can be so I limited my time outside. We encountered no problems while there. Beautiful views of the Lake❤️❤️. Schedule a visit because you will not be disappointed. I will definitely return to this property anytime I need to return to Highlands County.

Great stay!

We had a really great time at the lake house! The house was the perfect size for all of us and great amenities! Here are some things to know about the property: 1. There's no fence. This made it difficult with our GSP that loves to run. Being so close to a highway was concerning, but we were able to keep her within our line of sight all weekend. 2. The house is about less than half a mile from Highway 27. This didn't present a problem to us, but it is good to know since there's no fence. 3. Publix is conveniently close. It's right across the highway and it was perfect for our group that needed something almost every day from the store. 4. You can't park on the grass to the west of the house. This isn't owned by the host; however, there was plenty of parking for four various sized boat trailers, trucks, and two cars. 5. The bugs are terrible at night! The host warned us about this, but it did make hanging outside a little difficult without citronella or a Thermacell. I highly recommend bringing those with you. 6. You can't hang outside if it's raining. The upper deck isn't covered and the lower patio leaks. It rained every afternoon for us, and we had to all go inside. 7. The dock is splinter central and there's sharp shells/rocks in the water. A couple of the kids got splinters and/or significant cuts on their feet. If you're bringing kids, I would recommend water shoes. 8. There is a beach area next to the dock that's great for little ones.

50th and Fathers day

We had a fantastic time celebrating with our family that traveled from multiple areas to be together. This house met every need. The property manager started helping us and answering questions the minute we booked, we could not have done it without her.

Extremely relaxing

House was very nice and great location a couple miner problems the bugs were out of control the floor level balcony did not have a roof so you cannot sit outside when it was raining and you cannot sit downstairs under the balcony because you would be wet through the decking you cannot go from the upstairs to the downstairs without having to go outside and if it is raining, you would be soaking wet. Otherwise we had a wonderful time. The lake was beautiful. The house was very accommodating.
