“Too many notes telling you not to scratch things. It was nothing like as described on website. Spoon holding the window fastener, other windows held together with duck tape. . Felt damp in there so needed heat. Bedding wasn’t Egyptian cotton, bottom sheet was pea green. Tap just dribbled water out of wash basin. Lane and track down to property was terrible, full of holes. We didn’t stay for breakfast or to sleep there.”

“Superb value for money, fabulous location as only a couple of stops on the train (3 min walk to station) and we were Brighton. Parked for free on links road. We had the en suite, which was a massive room & comfy bed. Only thing was bathroom blind needs replacing (for privacy) and shower thermostat wasn’t easy to change (went too hot) apart from that - brilliant base for exploring area/Brighton. We loved our stay thanks!”

“We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Chestnut Tree. Lisa, the host was the main reason, she is a great communicator which is important when booking. She was so very helpful with local information and incredibly kind. Our room was beautiful and the amenities in the bathroom delightful. The area is beautiful but with only one night, we didn’t get the change to do much exploring. Next time. Thank you Lisa for a wonderful stay.”

“I stayed for one night during the June 2026 heatwave. It was self check in, so no staff on the premises. The building is old, with narrow corridors and stairs. There is no air conditioning. The room I stayed in was like a sauna. I would suggest providing each room with a fan. I stayed in a similar property earlier in the week and the hotel had provided each room with a fan. This is essential in extreme hot weather. I can honestly say this is the worse night I have ever had in a hotel/guest...

“When I arrived at the property, I couldn't get into the building because I had received no checkin instructions. I saw a few message asking me to pay for a damage deposit in my Expedia inbox. But I didn't get any advanced notification in my gmail inbox until on the checkin afternoon. Because I was travelling, I couldn't have seen these messages until I arrived at the property. The message was very cryptic. It wasn't immediately clear what I needed to do. Another hotel guest kindly explained...

“un horror si poleis no reservéis con este hotel, te sacan una foto de su estudio más caro y lo ponen como foto de standard, y cuando llegas te dan una habitación de mitad de tamaño a lo esperado con vistas a un patio guarro. Si os ocurre eso quejaros fehacientemente... animo a expedia a que corrijan esta información en su web ya que siempre que hay un problema han respondido y en mi reclamación por teléfono me atendió un chico de manera muy profesional”

“Have to check in next door at the pub. Parking permits for the street are available for 24hrs at £10. No hair dryer in the room. Did have fans in the room but they just made noise rather than blow air. TV remote didn't work so we were stuck on one channel with an info box on the screen. The shower has two temperatures, hot and scalding. On arriving back to the hotel at around 11.30 we realised there was some kind of kitchen on the ground floor. The place stank of cheesy potatoes, it was pretty...
