Cottage on the Frio River

  • Drive in or fly in to relax in a cozy 3 bedroom cottage on the Frio River. Yes, we have an air strip for those of you who have the capability of flying in. The views will bring tranquility and you will not want to leave. Enjoy the fire pit on the rock patio that over sees the views of mountains and trees. The river is approximately 200 yards away where you can enjoy swimming or fishing. When not at the river, challenge your friends/family to a game of corn hole or horse shoes. The cottage on the river is a great place to get away from the business of life and to slow down and enjoy the ones that mean the most to you.

    ***please be aware that during a drought, we have no control over the flow of the river. Our refund policy is posted and it will be followed. **

The home is an authentic old farm house from the 1800's. It is not perfect, but it is perfect for a great family vacation! We loved our trip!

My family absolutely loved this place. The back porch was perfect for enjoying the mornings and evenings. The property provided a good bit of privacy too with a nice view. We went when to river was too low so we just made a quick drive down the road to Garner State Park and enjoyed the river there. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

Very clean home and comfortable beds. I would suggest however to gather groceries before hand, even though there is a mercantile in town, it is a bit pricey.. Definitely check out the river flow before since we can not control mother nature, but it was good enough for us and our fur babies to get in and cool off and let them swim around a bit. Overall we enjoyed the peaceful wildlife and searched for rocks. Had a great time since our girls just graduated from college and they finally got to rest their minds..

Communication during stay was not very good. We saw mice and bugs inside house. Wifi was out half our stay and lighting in kitchen was out. Reached out but owners nevered replied. In route to house, we were advised hot tub was broken. Uncomfortable that front door was wide open when we arrived for stay. Overall, our stay was fine.

This property just north of Leakey was charming and peaceful. It was roomy and comfortable for our family of four. It was easy for us to cook dishes for our family reunion we were attending. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. The back porch was a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee and a country view. Hosts were responsive and helpful, and concerned about my car when a storm was on its way, possibly with hail. They had me pull it into the nearby barn for safety. That was really appreciated. You will love the tranquility of this property, yet the ease to get into Leakey quickly to enjoy the fun in town and the Frio River!

Relaxing getaway

We loved our stay here. The view, back porch and fire pit were just what we needed to unwind and enjoy nature.

Cozy and Clean!

Loved the charm of the house but the best part is the view! Plenty of room for a family of 6, and it was nice that each room has access to a sink/toilet. Highly recommend!

Charming house

We enjoyed our stay at the house. It was very clean and very well furnished. We enjoyed the fire pit and the view from the balcony.

Cottage Cozy

You can’t beat the private river access this cottage has! It was the highlight of our trip. Property was clean, hosts were very sweet and accommodating and we would certainly stay here again.

Quit relaxing place to stay. Wildlife at the feeder early in the morning and late in the evening was nice to watch.

Frio River Fun

House is in a beautiful location. Kids loved seeing all the deer in the morning and bats and fireflies at night. Cute cottage.

Peaceful and beautiful

It was a peaceful place to relax and get away from the city. Beautiful land. Too bad the river in the back was dry but we still enjoyed a day at Garner State Park.

Cute cottage with clear water swimming hole

We stayed with family. The house was well stocked. We loved the patio with the bbq pit and hot tub. The creek is a drive down to area that had clear water and perfect for all ages to swim.

Excellent fly in cabin

Beautiful property, great views, very nice and comfortable cabin. Very convenient right on the airport. The airport is great, good asphalt and good tie down cables. Short walk into town. There was some road noise and shooting going on but it wasn’t bad, still a very peaceful setting .

Perfect Getaway!

This was exactly what we were needing! The cottage is adorable and private, which we loved. The sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking! We spent hours in the afternoons enjoying the river and I think our dogs enjoyed it more than we did! It was flowing nicely, clear and cold. We love the Frio, it’s always been our happy place! We will be back!

Our favorite little getaway spot

We absolutely love this cottage! We have rented it 3 times now and it is perfect. I really wish it had a washer and dryer that is really the only thing that it needs. The property is great! We love coming each summer.

A Great Frio Home Away from Home

This farm house was one of our favorite places we have ever stayed at the Frio. Quiet and relaxing yet close to the float. The screen doors and beautiful views with a great layout and very comfortable. We all fell in love with the character and views of this house. Loved the land to wander on.

Quiet, peaceful getaway!

We loved our stay! The view from the back porch was phenomenal and we ended up spending most of our time there relaxing. The house was very clean, our dogs enjoyed the fenced yard, beds were comfortable. The property is just on the outskirts of town, so you feel like you’re away from it all but close enough to town to get your necessities. You’re minutes away from Garner State Park and some gorgeous drives. Definitely would stay again!

Nice stay

We enjoyed our stay in this historic cottage. It was comfortable for 3 adults and two elementary age children. The view is great- sitting on the porch in the swing is perfect for morning coffee. Plenty of seating on porch and patio/fireplace area. Kitchen is adequate and charcoal grill makes meals easy.. Stargazing is spectacular!

My family and I spent a few nights for New Year's. This is a beautiful place, the entire area is amazing, the view is awesome, couldn't have asked for more! My family and I loved the cottage, all clean, comfortable, safe, the response to our needs was immediate and friendly. We have stayed at other cabins in the area in the past, but this one will now be our favorite place to stay; we are already planning our next vacation time there again.

Great Family River Trip!

We enjoyed our stay with 6 adults, 2 babies, and 2 dogs. The private river access was great. We enjoyed the firepit and hot tub also. Having a fenced yard was great for the dogs. Being right by the airport was neat. We saw a few planes and a gyrocopter! The owners were very friendly and communicative.

Nice getaway

A nice and relaxing weekend. The beds are super comfortable and the view was great. The place needs a little TLC but overall it’s really nice. The dishwasher needs to be secured to the cabinet, toilet paper holders are broken, the hot tub never warmed up - but we had a relaxing weekend and I recommend this location to fellow travelers and family.
