We stayed at Saffron Lodge at Roadford Lake for two weeks at the beginning of May. I have to say it was probably the best UK holiday we have had. The area around the lodges is superb. It’s very well maintained with beautiful grass areas and bushes/flowers, really lovely. Saffron Lodge was the ideal location for us, hidden away at the bottom next to the pond. The lodge was very clean and had everything you could want. We loved the outdoor seating area (It would be nice if some sun beds could be put there). The lake was lovely to walk and run around. The cafe next to the lake has great views and it’s a great place to get a coffee. Unless you’re happy to stay in your lodge/local to the lake, you need a car to get out and about. We dined at The Fox and Grapes, which is a pub in Lifton.
(Dog friendly). The food was home made and very delicious. Strawberry Fields is a gorgeous place to get groceries and they have a wonderful restaurant too (dog’s okay in the outdoors). Launceston has some big supermarkets if you need them. The location of the lodge is great for visiting other area’s in Devon & Cornwall. We visited Tintagel, Plymouth, Port Isaac and went for walks on Dartmoor a couple of times. We went to Black Rock beach in Bude (dog friendly all year). We also went to the Jamaica Inn. Next time, we’ll go a bit further down into Cornwall for the day. We have had the holiday blues since being back, as we had such a wonderful time. Luxury Coastal has some fab place to stay and will be using them for our September get-away.
