The one bedroom flat (shown in photos 31-40) was the perfect home base, and David was very welcoming and quick to communicate and respond. Furnishings and decor were true to the photos -- comfortable and functional (IKEA) and fast wifi. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed to make meals with a convenient dishwasher to clean up. And Waitrose is literally across the street -- this is a MAJOR plus, because the flat is situated in a mostly residential area with few shops. There is also a small Tesco Express open until midnight, and 5-6 restaurants conveniently situated around St Katharine's Docks. We can highly recommend the Captain Kidd pub in Wapping.
The clothes washer/dryer allowed us to pack light. The bathroom was a comfortable size with a good shower head and water pressure, all the soaps and shampoos you might need, as well as large fluffy towels. The bedroom was quiet with blinds to keep the room dark, though the view from the bedroom windows is spectacular! Lying in bed one night, I watched a gorgeous full moon rise over the Tower Bridge and cross the sky over the marina. The living room has a similar spectacular view with door out to the balcony. The footpath below is a public walkway. The flat is subject to the normal sounds of the city -- traffic, construction, voices, neighbors -- but quiet through the wee hours.
Access to a variety of transport is as described: Tower Hill (Circle/District and DLR), bus, cycle share, water taxi. More often, we set out on foot in every direction: along the Thames Path east to Canary Warf and west along the north bank and south bank. It was our mission to visit every riverside pub in Central London! We chose the flat for its location to explore the east end of London. It was the perfect home base for two weeks, especially as we enjoyed unusually bright sunny skies and summer-like temperatures in February!
