Good location and service but rooms fair.
The location was good near tube and local pubs. Room very small and beds not comfortable. Staff worked hard. A little underwhelmed.

Very old building
The first room was dirty, the door lock was broken, the bathroom didn't flush properly and filled with mold. The window didn't close and worst of all I had to pay for WiFi. The night manager Antony was rude and sarcastic when I mentioned the room conditions.

i arrived at the hotel and they said my reservation was cancelled never knew why. I had to walk with my bags all around London to find another hotel to stay in

First time for everything
I've stayed at this hotel probably 8-10 times and this is the first time I have had cause to rate it anything other than first class. I arrived to find my reservation had not been processed but the staff dealt this a minor IT glitch well and I was checked in. Room to the normal standard but at 05:30 I was awoken by the most horrendous disturbance in the street as the "milk lorry" seemed to deliver enough milk to last the hotel a year. Men laughing and shouting and obviously having no respect for guests. I would have hoped the night staff would have said something. Oh... and no electric in the room (hotel) when I arrived back after my evening. That said it is easy t forgive, this remains excellent value for money with a great, friendly staff and is in an excellent location. Shame about the milk lorry !!

Great place with a great price.
Really nice. Room was tiny but it's London, so to be expected. Pretty central location. Bed was probably the most comfortable of any hotel I've ever stayed at in London. Secret gem in the midst of not very good hotels in London.

EXCELLENT VALUE AND LOCATION
Booked one night and then had to arrive the day before so extended my stay with another booking. I rang the hotel to ensure I had the same room and they assured me it was not a problem - and it wasn't. Friendly welcome and you actually feel they want you to enjoy your stay - very helpful throughout my stay. Room was clean and well equipped. Like these "old" buildings there are some creaks and odd corners but that is part of the character.

Quiet hotel
Situated on a square, it avoids the bustle of London life, giving a more peaceful sleep. The headboard fell off the wall when I lent on it so it could be more kempt but for the price of London Hotels, I got what I expected. Great breakfast in the morning. Staff really helpful

Nice hotel in a lovely area
This is a great hotel in a lovely quiet area of Nottinghill. It's only a short walk to the tube station and Porterbello Road. The staff were very polite and friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was nice and spacious, and very clean. The bathroom was a bit pokey but to be expected for what we paid.

Needs renovating badly
My room was ok except for the floor not being flat, therefore the bed was not level so it was uncomfortable sleeping, the curtains don't cover the whole window anything on the flat was on an angle due to the floor not being level. No free wifi at all

Shhhh. Don't tell everyone
4th visit and 4th time happy and content. One of London's best kept secrets. Good value, clean rooms. Not luxury but very comfortable and clean. Staff are great, friendly and helpful. Location is close to bars, pubs and near enough to Notting Hill and other localities. Parking is easy too. What more do you want?

Still good !
Second visit and it almost lived up to the first visit - to be fair I did have a single room rather than the double the previous visit. Room fine, check in excellent and staff as friendly as ever.

I should not say this BUT.. I was expecting a lot less - the booking was made in a hurry and I was not expecting much. I actually found a great hotel - friendly and professional welcome, a room that far exceeding expectations - even down to the dressing gowns. The staff actually seemed interested in my comfort !! Enjoy

Nice 3-star hotel
Nice little hotel on a quiet back-street right on the border between Bayswater and Notting Hill. Not fancy or luxurious, but a clean and friendly tourist hotel. The room is small (so are almost all single rooms in London) but it had a good bed and en-suite facilities (clean and functioning). The staff was very helpful and service minded, so top-score there. Walking distance to the Underground and several restaurants in the area, nothing fancy though. As long as you set your expectations right, this is a good hotel well deserving of their 3 stars, and for the price it is highly recommended. I would stay there again when traveling to London. Seems a step better than many of the similar hotels nearby.

Great hotel for the price
I stay in this type of hotel fairly often - it consists of small rooms in what used to be one of london's grand town houses. It provides the basics, clean building, TV, comfortable bed and a small bathroom. Location was good and the staff friendly. At this price range you can get some really bad hotels, but the UMI kind of stands out - you can tell they have a similar budget to many similar hotels but use it more wisely. You can't expect the moon on a stick at these kind of prices, but what they do, they do it well. Check out some of my other reviews for similar hotels that don't get it right!

まあまあ広さはあったけれど
広さは価格の割にまあまあだったけれど、スタッフの対応はいまいちだった。ホテル内の公衆電話を使ったとき、お金を入れたけれど戻ってこないことがあって尋ねたら、「I dont know｣の一言で終わりにされた。 場所も思ったより駅より近くなかった。隣のパディントンにも泊まったがそちらのほうがよかった。

とても良かった
ロケーションがとても良かった。 Queensway駅、Bayswater駅、Notting Hill、Paddington、Kensington Gardensにすぐの距離で、お店も近隣にいくつもあり全く不便さを感じなかった。 ホテルの部屋も清潔で、シングルルームでは充分満足のいく大きさで寛げた。 部屋の目の前がPrivate Gardenだったので、緑の木々が心地よくとても癒された。 ただ、床が傾いていて軋むので、上階の部屋と隣の部屋の歩く音が気になった。 それと廊下を通る人の声がとても響き、深夜に戻ってくる酔った客の大声で目が覚めた。 次回Londonを訪れる際も、Umi Hotelを利用したいと思っている。

Everything was great, but matress needs an upgrade
Everything about this hotel was great, however, the matress had no padding on it at all, meaning I could feel the springs under me when laying on the bed. It was warm enough that I was able to sleep on top of the duvet cover, making it more comfortable.

Value for money - but a typical Britsh shower
This hotel offers good value for money - but don't judge it by US standards. The rooms are small and tired but. for the price, they are very good value for money. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the location pleasant. The shower shows all the signs of typical British attitudes - it's there, don't question whether you can get consistent pressure and temperature - but I'd use it again when lack of better options requires.

A lovely location first of all- typical notting hill setting- lovely gardens, gorgeous town houses and quiet streets...but just around the corner from bayswater tube and notting hill gate tube, with restaurants, cafes, bars...everything! Very friendly staff, very helpful and allowed to use the luggage room before checking in and after checking out. This hotel is not wonderful in terms of 5 * luxury, but you get what you pay for. it was well priced for what it is, and we had a lovely room (just like the picture on the website) good window, lots of mirrors, wardrobe, fine bed, tv, etc.....the bathroom is only a shower and a toilet- very small and the sink is in the room, but again this is fine and is to be expected with the price. Overall a good stay, I would recommend it to anyone- as long as you are not after a 5* luxury break - very reasonable, nice hotel, great location, friendly staff!

Definitely, this is a nice hotel. Surrounding areas is decent and it's close to the tube which can lead you to all the areas that you want to see in London. Few drawbacks - Bathroom is incredibly small. if you are over 6 feet tall, you will have problems fitting in the tight space. You have to pay for wi-fi internet access. Overall, it was a good stay.

the hotel has some of the best friendliest and most helpful staff i have ever met, but the hotel is old ,desperately shabby, damp and dirty . the staff re assured me that they get lots of complaints but that the hotel is due to be re furbished in the near future .if this happens then it would be well worth staying at because the position is excellent . currently even at the bargain prices they charge it is really not good value

das preis-leistungs-verhältnis war absolut okay. ich hatte ohne frühstück gebucht. in der umgebung gibt es genug andere möglichkeiten. gestört hat mich die hellhörigkeit im zimmer. ich war im 4. stock untergebracht.

Posizione eccellente..ma difficile da trovare
Per fortuna avevo guardato bene quali vie prendere (e il numero di strade), tenendo come riferimento il centro commerciale whiteley's (eccellente, vicino, e ricco di opportunita', dallo shopping al cibo) arrivata vicino, tutte le vie avevano lo stesso nome, leinster square, anche le traverse e le parallele del quartiere, e piu' volte, tornando , mi son persa smarrita. in compenso, nel giro di 2 o 3 vie, il quartiere è stupendo. è anche ottimamente collegato ai bus, il 23 è il piu' utile (va a marble arch..come a liverpool street): se arrivate con le valige consiglio il bus: vi risparmierte molti gradini!!! le metro son meno vicine di quanto segnalato, 5 minuti NO di sicuro, ma con 10 ci si può arrivare (mentre gli autobus di via westburne grove sono molto vicini) il letto era scomodo (parecchio) la stanza era grande (soprattutto per gli standard di londra, luminosa, con una bella finestra che dava su un giardinetto, sebbene in singola mi è stata data una twin particolarmente apprezzabile il set di accoglienza con il bollitore e il te scrivania, gadget, pulizia di lenzuola e biancheria da bagno: ottima del bagno media delle stanze, accettabile: molto scadente la manutenzione: finestra con fessure e poco richiudibile, WC che funziona con ripetuti colpi, lampada che si accende con una catenella, manutenzione dei particolari (chiusure del lavandino, delle finiture del bagno) assolutamente orrende lavandino con acqua calda e fredda separate (ma niente calcare) mixer della doccia complicato da usare nessun problema con l'acqua la stanza necessita di essere ri-pitturata la moquette non è perfetta e ricopre uno scricchiolante parquet l'insonorizzazione non è delle migliori, ma accettabile è frequentato da molte scolaresche. Consigliabile per la posizione, la cortesia del personale, la quantita' di servizi . rassomiglia piu' un due stelle che un tre, Ero timorosa riguardo alla pulizia, ma nella realta' dei fatti almeno posso rassicurare su quella. Hotellet skryter av " air conditioning." men dette er ren løgn. Ingen lufting i rom bortsett fra to vinduer som maks kunne åpnes 5 cm (kun 1 vindu lot seg åpne på rommet mitt). Det var fryktelig varmt, selv tidlig i mai så kan ikke anbefale dette hotellet på sommerstid. Fikk tildelt en vifte som hjalp noe. Hotels.com skrev at rommet hadde "sentral Ellers fungerte ikke dusjen første dagen (hele krana var løs), noe som passet veldig dårlig etter en lang reise. Den ble først reparert sent neste dag. Sløvt. Ellers har jeg betalt mindre for mer moderne rom i London før. Rosa flekkete teppegulv og enkeltstående vask midt i rommet (badet består av kun do og dusj) er ikke akkurat noe en forventer for denne prisen, selv i London. Grei lokasjon, 10-15 min unna buss/tube, samt hyggelig personale. Totalt: styr unna. Det finnes langt bedre hoteller til samme pris i London

Terrible smell
The hotel is ok in terms of price / quality + nice location. Small room with sink in the room. Decent shower. However, the smell in my room was really bad. Had to open the windows to live with it.

Gutes Hotel, einfach aber ausreichend für ein Wochenende in London.
Das Hotel liegt sehr praktisch, Laufweite 5-10 Minuten zu den U-Bahnstationen Bayswater und Queensway. In der Straße Queensway befinden sich sehr viele Geschäfte, Kneipen und Restaurants sowie Whiteley's, ein schönes Einkaufszentrum. Das Umi Hotel ist ein einfaches, aber gutes Hotel. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Zimmer sind eher einfach gehalten, das Mobiliar nicht neu, aber zumeist in Ordnung. Auf allen Zimmer gibt es kleine Flachbildfernseher. Das Bad ist z.T. sehr klein, in manchen Zimmern ist das Waschbecken ins Hauptzimmer ausgelagert. Die Fenster sind etwas zugig, alte Holzfenster zum Schieben. Das Frühstück ist in Ordnung, es könen 4 Dinge von einer kleinen Speisekarte bestellt werden, weiteres kostet extra. Im Kellergeschoß gibt es ein Restaurant mit einer Bar, die Atmosphäre ist jedoch nicht so toll. Im Haus gibt es Internetterminals und einige Gratiszeitungen. Alles in allem ist das Umi-Hotel ein gutes, günstiges Hotel in guter Lage.

Good option in a convenient location
We were very happy with our stay at the Umi. The location is good - close to three tube stations, with plenty of food options available in Bayswater and Hyde Park, Oxford Street and Notting Hill easy walks. The hotel itself is exactly what you expect from a mid-range London hotel - good service, tidy, compact room and good facilities. No complaints at all.

The location is great and the reception area looks decent, but the good things stop there! The single rooms are quite tiney and the floor is seriously uneven. The building is really old and some of the flooring is distubingly unstable. I arrived very early in the morning because of my early flight, and expected the hotel to show some cooperation in providing me with an early check in. The hotel refused to give me a room even 5 minutes before the published 1400. I have to say that the housekeeping standard was good.

Excellent séjour. Hôtel très calme (chambre donnant sur square fermé). Lits très confortables. Formule petit déjeuner très agréable. Hôtel très bien placé, à proximité d'une station de métro.

Ruhig gelegen, kleine Parks zwischen den Häuserblocks
Bereits vor 30 Jahren befanden wir uns in diesem Hotel. Im Vergleich zu einer damaligen "Bruchbude" hat sich heute einiges verbessert. Aus nostalgischen Gründen haben wir uns wieder dort eingemietet. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im Ergeschoss gebucht das modern und modernisiert war und ein Zimmer im 1. Stock, wo die Schranktüre aus den Angeln fiel, der Waschtisch völlig schief und das Bad insgesamt reperaturbedürftig (Klospülung ging nur tröpfchenweise, Türe und Boden von Feuchtigkeit aufgequollen, Dusche mit Schimmelbefall) war. Aber insgesamt hat es uns gut gefallen, der Service war sehr gut, das (englsiche) Frühstück reichhalig und preislich o.k., die Lage für uns optimal und wir würden auch wieder kommen.

Fint hotell, har hårføner, vannkoker, ok standard. Fin beliggenhet med mange restauranter og kafeer i nærheten. Ikke langt fra Hyde Park. Frokost ikke inkludert i prisen. Ca 10 min å gå fra Bayswater underground-stasjon. vi er et par i slutten av 20-årene.

Hôtel idéal pour un week-end , il est bien situé (non loin de Hyde Park et de Kensington palace - à 5/10 minutes à pied). Les prestations sont très correctes. La chambre est très propre mais en revanche je n'ai pas réussi à fermer la fenêtre complètement (pas gênant au mois d'août mais par contre en hiver ...). Par ailleurs le système de badge pour accéder à la chambre a une fiabilité douteuse (j'ai du demander à une femme de chambre ainsi qu'à la réception pour pouvoir accéder à ma chambre - un problème de démagnétisation récurrent ...).

You Get What You Pay For
What drew me to this hotel was the location: a short walk to the Notting Hill Tube, Portobello Road, Kensington High Street, etc. The price was also right, compared to other budget hotels in the vicinity. But perhaps I'm just a spoiled American; I've come to expect complimentary wifi (and it's not cheap here). It's also apparent that this hotel is a renovation job, as most of the attempts to modernize the space aren't really all that successful. If you're looking for a (sort of) cheap place and will generally be using your room to store your belongings and sleep, Umi is fine. Suited my purposes, at least.
