Cottage In A Peaceful Location

Our cottage lies nestled in the small village of Lozay in the south west region of France known as Charente Maritime. This area still retains the old fashioned feel of traditional France noted for its high percentage of sunshine and long balmy summer evenings. A place to relax as you meander through the rolling acres of sunflowers and maize in the beautiful rural countryside. Villages remain unspoilt, the people friendly and the small bars and restaurants offer classic French cuisine and wines at reasonable prices.

Lozay itself is a small rural village famous for its Romanesque church. The small market town of Loulay is 5 minutes away by car with a boulanger, butcher, bar and restaurant.
St Jean d'Angely is only 15 minutes with its classic buildings, squares, shops, bars, restaurants and famous Abbey.
Horse riding is available nearby, tennis and swimming at Loulay or at St Jean. The pool in St Jean is indoors and has fantastic slides for children, an Olympic sized main pool and a sun bathing terrace with picnic area for eating.
There are superb golf courses at Niot, Saint and La Rochelle. A truly tranquil retreat!

The cottage itself has recently been refurbished and now offers a modern twist on a rustic country house . The bathroom has been changed into a high end shower/wet room.
In the kitchen area you’ll find all the mod cons to create some lovely meals which can be eaten in the courtyard dining area whilst you gaze at the plethora of stars.
In the lounge you’ll find a log burner for those cooler evenings and the TV has Freeview for those cosy nights in .
As shown in the pictures the staircase, as in most rural cottages is quite steep. A baby gate can be provided on request .

The pool and garden is enclosed so it’s very safe and secure for children and dogs. The water is heated and remains at a beautiful 28 degree temperature . There are plenty of sun loungers to relax on and a couple of eating areas .
