  • Come and experience your own piece of heaven at Heaven Can Wait River Retreat—a rare Shenandoah River property offering a private pool and two separate homes for the perfect balance of privacy and togetherness.

    The property includes a charming log cabin and a light-filled pool house, together accommodating up to 10 guests, making it ideal for families or groups traveling together. The main cabin features a large yard and playground area perfect for kids to enjoy while adults relax and take in the peaceful surroundings.

    Start your morning on the expansive wraparound porch of the log cabin, sipping coffee and listening to the birds. Spend the afternoon grilling for your group on the outdoor gas grill or gather around the fire pit to share stories and make memories. Kids can splash in the pool while adults unwind at the tiki bar.

    If Mother Nature isn’t cooperating, no big deal—Heaven Can Wait River Retreat offers a spacious rec room complete with a ping pong table, cozy fireplace, and satellite TV at the main cabin, providing fun and comfort no matter the weather.

    After a day on the river or exploring the nearby George Washington National Forest, unwind in the large, bubbling hot tub. Here, you’ll enjoy all the comforts of home while being surrounded by the natural beauty of the Shenandoah River.

    The main cabin also features newly installed Starlink WiFi for improved internet service during your stay.



    📌 Good to Know

    • Check-in: 4 PM | Check-out: 11 AM (early/late may be available—just ask)

    • Pool is available Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day

    • **WiFi available at the main house only (no WiFi at the pool house)**

    • ~5-minute walk between the log cabin and pool/river area

    • Base rate includes 4 guests; additional guests are $30 per person, per night

    • Dog-friendly (main house only): max 2 dogs, $100 per dog, over 20 lbs with rabies certificate (no cats)

    • No trash service—disposal info provided, or housekeeping can assist for $5 per bag

    • Separate security deposit required (feel free to ask for details)

    • November–March: 4WD/AWD recommended in inclement weather

We decided at the last minute to get away for Christmas. Everything went smoothly. The wrap around porch is what sold us to pick this location. It did not disappoint. Kitchen was equipped for our holiday cooking. As advertised, WiFi is minimal. We found if you take the short walk to the river you can get what you need. We were able to get Netflix on our phones to watch Christmas Day football. We saw some wildlife on the gravel road, Billy goats, wild turkeys.

Excellent property and location!

We love hiking in and around Shenandoah National Park. I've stayed in and around Luray several times and this was my favorite place we stayed; would love to go back here again!

Great place to relax grandkids enjoyed the playground and hot tub ping pong is always a hit for them enjoyed watching movies at night by the fireplace and we even got to see snow falling being from Florida that was a great experience for them Would love to come back during summer time to enjoy the river and other activities

Awesome experience!

We loved the hot tub by the river, and the ping pong table! The views are great and the pool house is just a minute walk from the cabin. We loved our trip!

Perfect getaway

This was the perfect cabin especially with young kids. Our kids enjoyed the playground, short walk to the river, tetherball and fire pit to make s’mores. Inside was just as fun and comfy with darts and ping pong. We would highly recommend booking this cabin for a relaxing getaway!

This was a great relaxing get-away for us. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows at the fire pit and sitting in the hot tub after a long day in Luray. In the mornings while sitting on the porch we enjoyed watching the deer come into the yard. The home was nicely appointed and clean. The beds were comfortable and the linens were fresh. We enjoyed the wraparound porch with so many rockers and chairs. It was lovely to relax in them while enjoying the scenery. The only "negative" we had was the bathtub could've used a rubber mat because one of our members fell while showering (no injury except for his pride). We didn't have any children with us but the playground, tetherball, and pingpong table would've been instant favorites.

Lovely property

It was on a beautiful and peaceful property. The house was extremely clean. Hot tub well maintained. We enjoyed the fire pit at night. Our family had a wonderful time here.

Amazing place to stay!

This place is beautiful! Perfect location if you like secluded but not too far away from things. About 45 minutes from Shenandoah which wasn’t bad at all. Shenandoah rentals were fantastic to deal with. Any questions I had were quickly responded to. The river was beautiful to walk down to. Definitely would stay there again!

Northern VA. getaway

This was a beautiful cabin that is very remote ( it was about 14mi off the main highway, which about 6mi of the drive was on a gravel road, which was my only complaint) We needed to go back out twice while we were there and the gravel part of the road was not enjoyable. The cabin was very clean inside but could have used a wash down on the outside. The porch and hot tub area was pretty dirty.

Nice out of the way place

Way off the beaten path. Would be a REALLY nice getaway for a family. Especially if you wanna get away feom everything. Property is beautiful, just needs to be mowed.

Quite and off the beaten track

The house was clean, and the best stocked vacation rental we have ever stayed in. Everything worked. it is located down a gravel road so there was very little traffic, back in the country kind of setting but just about 20 min from downtown.

Great getaway!

Had a great time at Heaven Can Wait. Cabin was very clean and wrap around deck was awesome. Off the beaten path but less the 30 minutes from shopping. Shenandoah river was crystal clear and good fishing. Firepit at night was great! More than enough room for 6 people.

Exactly what a cabin should be

Great property! A short 2 min walk to the river. Hot tub, fire pit, and big children’s playground. Nice welcome basket and has both K-cup and drip coffee makers. Pet friendly. Definitely get your groceries before coming up — it’s 25 min drive back into town.

Lovely river setting. House is ideal for families and friends. I went with friends and we were able to relax and enjoy the calmness, but lord for kids to do too. Loved the layout of house and porch, can all hang out or have separate groups, because we know how families are :) hot tub right under porch, and two nice bathrooms. Highly recommend!!!!!

Beautiful!

Pros: everything! It was all beautiful! Basement had a bedroom and upstairs had 2! 2 full baths and 2 kitchens! My kids loved it! Nice hottubCons: couldn't get DVD player to work, couldn't figure out the grill and the fireplace was out of order. The gnats and carpenter bees were sooo bad we couldn't go outside! It's also a 30 minute drive to the closet store all on a small back road!all dminute drive

Almost exceptional.

The only complaint/issue was the bed linens on the bed my daughter and granddaughter used had pet and human hair on the sheets.
