The Cranach hostel is located in the former home of the Cranach family of painters, in the middle of the old town of Wittenberg. The famous artist and close friend of Martin Luther lived and worked here in the 16th Century as a painter, pharmacist, innkeeper and mayor. In this tradition, the Cranach Foundation runs its hostel to provide financial support to the painting school with its art education program for children, young people and adults. In this creative environment of painting school, printing workshop, ateliers and paradise garden, the Cranach hostel offers its guests a unique overnight experience. The corner house on the market and its quiet courtyard with a tube water fountain still tell of the wealth of the Cranach family. Via the Renaissance Wendelstein you can reach 26 lavishly restored and individually furnished rooms on three floors with a wonderful view of the historic market square or the idyllic courtyard. The guest rooms are equipped with modern furniture in a simple design, made in a local carpentry workshop. Colored lamps and antique furniture give every room its own accent. TV sets are not available.   The large house with its spacious hallways invites its guests to stroll and discover. Many details tell of the different design and use of the house over the centuries. Due to the historical building structure, the hostel does not offer an elevator and is best explored on foot, as in Cranach's times / as always.   Enjoy the unique atmosphere of the old town of Wittenberg and welcome to the Cranach family. Please note that the building has steep stairs due to the protection of historical monuments and there is no elevator. Dear guests, unfortunately no discounts for children can be taken into account when booking online. Please contact the tourist information by phone! Children up to 3 years stay free of charge in the Cranach hostel, the night for children up to 7 years is EUR 25.00 and for children up to 12 years EUR 35.00 including breakfast.

Arrival is possible from 14:00 to 17:00 and departure from 07:00 to 10:00.
